On behalf of the City and County of San Francisco, it is a pleasure to welcome you to the 50th Annual San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration. I am proud to be Mayor of a city that leads the country in extending civil rights to all, regardless of who you are or who youlove.
San Francisco takes pride in our LGBTQ community. This year’s theme, “Generations of Hope,” greatly reflects our LGBTQ communities’ long history of activism and resilience, from Compton’s to Stonewall, from the AIDS crisis to the war against our trans community.
Since San Francisco’s first Pride Parade in 1970, we have overcome many challenges on our path towards equality and San Francisco has never given up or lost hope, and this current crisis is no different. We will get through this, we have done it before and we will do it again together.
This is what Pride means, pride in our City and pride in our fierce LGBTQ community. I hope you will keep finding safe and creative ways to come together to celebrate and support one another.
To you, your friends, and families, and LGBTQ communities around the world, I wish you all a fabulousPride!
With warmest regards,

London Breed Mayor City and County of San Francisco
