Gelati by Mike Ranked #1 in North America at International Gelato Convention P aterson native Chef Mike Guerriero was recently honored at Sigep Rimini in Italy by being awarded two crowns (gelato equivalent of Michelin Stars) and ranked the #7 gelato chef in the world by the Gelato Festival World Masters. Guerriero is the youngest and only American Chef to crack the top 10, and one of the newest chefs to burst on to the scene quickly, rising up the ranks after just one year of competing. Over the last 14 months of Gelato Festival, Guerriero has broken barriers by becoming the first American born chef to win a Gelato Festival stage, and then going on to win the first ever North American Finals.
Guerriero will represent the United States in 2021 in the Gelato Festival World Masters, which will see representatives from 20 countries, and over 30 chefs competing for the title of the World Champion.
Guerriero got his start in the business working for Gelotti Ice Cream in his hometown of Paterson, NJ. A trip to Sigep Rimini in 2010 changed everything when Guerriero was introduced to the international gelato culture. “I remember coming home so inspired to be authentic, to take pride and hone my craft like they did in Italy.”
