HABAKKUK 2:2-3 KJV I WILL STAND UPON MY WATCH, AND SET ME UPON THE TOWER, AND WILL WATCH TO SEE WHAT HE WILL SAY UNTO ME, AND WHAT I SHALL ANSWER WHEN I AM REPROVED. AND THE LORD ANSWERED ME, AND SAID, WRITE THE VISION, AND MAKE IT PLAIN UPON TABLES, THAT HE MAY RUN THAT READETH IT. FOR THE VISION IS YET FOR AN APPOINTED TIME, BUT AT THE END IT SHALL SPEAK, AND NOT LIE: THOUGH IT TARRY, WAIT FOR IT; BECAUSE IT WILL SURELY COME, IT WILL NOT TARRY.

Editor's Letter A
s we enter the Winter/January 2024 issue of God's Purpose Magazine, I am thrilled to share with you a theme that beckons us to the heart of our journey —'Write, It, Pray, Believe, Act,' inspired by the timeless wisdom found in Habakkuk 2:2.
This scripture serves as a guiding light, urging us to inscribe our visions, hopes, and dreams as a testament of our faith. It invites us to a profound engagement with the divine, encouraging us to align our purpose with God's design. In the absence of an exclusive interviewee in this edition, our focus turns inward, encouraging each of you to embark on a personal journey of reflection and manifestation for the year ahead. The resounding call is to 'Achieve All That God Has for You in 2024' through intentional actions grounded in faith. For me, as the Editor-in-Chief, 2024 symbolizes the year of soaring on wings like an eagle. To soar requires more than mere flight; it demands patience, trust, and an unwavering connection with God.
Resting in His promises, I recognize the importance of translating His visions into written decrees. It is in the act of writing that we establish a covenant with the future, declaring our commitment to follow the path laid out before us. The journey of soaring is not a passive one. It calls for active participation—praying with conviction, believing with unwavering faith, and acting upon the divine guidance received. It is a holistic approach that transforms our aspirations into reality, shaping our destiny with purpose and intent. As you engage with the articles in this issue, let them serve as catalysts for your own contemplation. Take the time to write down your vision, make it plain, and let your prayers push it to the next level. As you believe, trust in the process, and when the time is right, act on that belief. May the pages of this magazine be a source of inspiration, a companion on your spiritual journey, and a reminder that in 2024, you have the wings to soar. Embrace God’s guidance, inscribe your visions, and with faith as your compass, set forth into the boundless possibilities that await. Happy New Year!

HABBAKUK 2:2 - A BLUEPRINT FOR ESTABLISHING DIVINE PURPOSE BY DR. VICKI L. OTARUYINA Habakkuk 2:2 is like a map for people who want to live the way God wants them to. When we write down our goals, understand our purpose, have faith, and make a firm decision to follow God, it helps us live a meaningful and purposeful life.

HABBAKUK 2:2 - A BLUEPRINT FOR ESTABLISHING DIVINE PURPOSE
As we embrace the wisdom encapsulated in these verses, may we find the courage to write, declare, and live out the unique purpose that God has envisioned for each of us. As we delve into the significance of this scripture, we uncover the many layers of wisdom that make it a guiding light for believers across generations: 1. Divine Communication: Habakkuk 2:2 begins with a divine invitation, a beckoning from God Himself. "Then the Lord replied..." signifies a direct communication from the Almighty. In a world filled with noise and distractions, this verse underscores the importance of seeking and listening to God's voice. It's an encouragement to establish a dialogue with God acknowledging that our purpose is intricately woven into the fabric of His plan. 2. The Power of Writing: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets..." Here, we encounter the transformative power of writing. The act of putting pen to paper is not merely a mundane task; it is a sacred act of declaration. Writing down our visions, dreams, and revelations serves as a tangible commitment to the path God has laid before us. It transforms the intangible into the concrete, creating a written covenant between us and our Creator. 3. Clarity in Purpose: "So that a herald may run with it." The clarity of expression is emphasized in this portion of the verse. By making our visions plain, we enable not only ourselves but others to run with the message. It speaks to the contagious nature of purpose—when we are clear about our vision, it becomes a rallying cry for those around us.
PAGE 9
Clarity in purpose is a magnetic force that draws others into the journey of divine manifestation. 4. Faith in Action: Habakkuk 2:2 is a call to faith in action. It encourages believers not to passively wait for divine intervention but to actively engage in the manifestation of their purpose. The combination of writing, clarity, and action forms a holistic approach to living out one's faith. It's a reminder that belief without corresponding action is incomplete. 5. Establishing a Decree: The act of writing down a vision is akin to establishing a decree. It's a proclamation that reverberates through the spiritual realm. In writing, we declare our trust in God's promises, affirming our commitment to the unfolding narrative of our lives. Every written word becomes a testament to our faith and an anchor for the journey ahead.
Scriptures on Vision and Clarity Ephesians 2:10 (NIV): "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Isaiah 40:31 (NIV): "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Matthew 6:33 (NIV): "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Romans 12:2 (NIV): "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

POSITIONED FOR PURPOSE: THE BLUEPRINT FOR MANIFESTING VISION IN THE NEW YEAR BY JOYCE SIMS In 2001, amidst the budding stage of my law career, I was stricken with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus, commonly called "Rhupus". At thirty-one years old, married with three children, I was determined not to let the diagnoses derail me. Therefore, despite the pain, I continued to do everything a "normal" person would do.
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE
POSITIONED FOR PURPOSE: THE BLUEPRINT FOR MANIFESTING VISION IN THE NEW YEAR
Twelve years later, Rhupus led to an incurable illness called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). When my physician delivered the diagnosis, I was in congestive heart failure with roughly a year to live. Devastated, all my husband and I could do when we made it to our car was hold each other and cry. When we told our children, I said, "We're not crying about this anymore. If we say we trust God, we will trust God." Then, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and social distancing was worse than all my illnesses combined. My husband was an essential worker, my grown children could not visit, and our church was shuttered indefinitely. Thereafter, depression engulfed me, and I found myself drifting away from God. Thankfully, my husband encouraged me to write, and I began to find solace. Isolation transformed into motivation, and by God’s grace, I published my first novel in September 2022 and my second in 2023. Now, reflecting upon my journey and the lessons found in Habakkuk, I am reminded that God is always at work and will often use difficult situations to usher us to our destiny. Habakkuk 2:1-2 provides the blueprint for manifesting vision in 2024. Habakkuk states, "I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what He will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint. Then the Lord replied: "Write down the vision and make it plain on tablets so that he may run who reads it."
PAGE 11
Habakkuk directs us to: 1) Get in position. He understood the importance of purpose and wrote, "I will stand my watch and set myself on the tower." Just like a pilot must navigate a plane from the cockpit or a football player's purpose determines his position on the field, our purpose determines our position. 2) Remain perceptive. Vision is divinely revealed at the appointed time, only for a while. Habakkuk declared that he would watch to see what God would say to him. His attentiveness yielded God’s response. We, too, must actively seek His guidance. 3) Pen it. God told Habakkuk, "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets so that he who reads it may run." We must avoid seeking validation from others before “writing it in stone.” For it is not their vision. At the appointed time, God will align us with allies who will help bring our vision to fruition. Then, they will receive it and run. So, as we strive to manifest our God-given goals, we must understand that vision embodies three qualities. It is clear, enabling us to see and understand His plan vividly. It is collaborative, requiring the participation of passionate allies to help us. And finally, it is constant. When we trust in His unwavering power, others can take the vision and continuously bring it to pass… even after we are gone.

r u o Y e t i Wr n o i s Vi a devotional by Dr. Vicki L. Otaruyina
Scripture: Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV) - "Then the Lord replied: 'Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.'" Devotional: In the quiet moments of our lives, God often whispers His dreams for us—visions that are unique, purposeful, and filled with divine promise. As we stand on the threshold of a new year, Habakkuk 2:2 calls us to action: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets." There is a profound significance in the act of writing. When we put pen to paper, we are not merely jotting down words; we are etching the dreams God has planted within our hearts. The process of writing is a sacred partnership with God, a tangible expression of our commitment to walk in the footsteps of His purpose. Consider this: God, the Master Planner, invites us to be co-authors of our destiny. He urges us to write our visions, not in the cryptic language of ambiguity, but in the clarity that resonates with our hearts. Why write? Writing is an act of faith. It transforms intangible aspirations into concrete declarations. When we write down our visions, we are proclaiming, "Lord, I trust You to bring this to pass." Our written words become a covenant, a pact sealed between us and the One who holds the future in His hands. So, take a moment. Find a quiet space, and with a heart open to the whispers of the divine, write down your vision for the coming year. Be specific. Be bold. Pour your dreams onto the page, knowing that God delights in the partnership of co-authorship. As you hold your written vision, remember that this is not just a piece of paper; it is a sacred scroll bearing the fingerprint of God. Carry it with you, pray over it, and watch as God orchestrates the fulfillment of His plans in your life. May the words you inscribe become a testament to the faithfulness of our God, who not only speaks but also invites us to be active participants in the beautiful story He is unfolding. Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I write down the vision You have placed within my heart, I surrender it to You. May my words be a reflection of Your divine purpose for my life. Grant me the faith to believe and the courage to act in alignment with Your will. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

VISION IS LIFE BY EVELYN COLLINS There are 365 scriptures about combating fear in the Bible. Many of the scriptures encourage us to choose faith instead. I stepped out in faith and published my first book. It wasn't a bestseller, so the accuser whispered that I was a failure. However, I'm grateful, as it taught me to step out in faith, dependent upon God. I had to ask myself, "Do I stop after one failure or remain steadfast and hopeful until I succeed?"
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE
VISION IS LIFE
The Bible reminds us that failure does not define who we are. But being faithful despite our fear does. Since that time, I struggled with doubt and wondered if I got ahead of God's timing. I waited without a clear idea of how to proceed. Once again, God impressed upon me the scripture, "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19, KJV) I knew I needed to change my approach to writing. Hence, I joined a transformation challenge because my deepest desire is to live my God-given dreams. This challenge inspired me to develop my vision, and I created a list of 100 dreams. This Bible verse describes the importance of vision. "Where there is no vision, the people perish…" (Proverbs 29:18, KJV) Vision is life! Do we desire to live life to the fullest? Frequently, I reach for small obtainable dreams without realizing that my mindset limits and destroys what God wants to give me. When I listen to the devil, tell me it's unachievable, I create a ceiling based on my ability. God wants you and I to achieve impossible dreams and rise to higher heights. The idea of writing a list of 100 dreams paralyzed me, but as I wrote the things important to me, I caught the vision of my ideal literary life. Then I wrote a statement dated three years in the future, describing my life and feelings when all dreams become reality. Each day I read it as a declaration and joy fills me.
PAGE 17
This challenge changed my life. Here are a few practices I implemented: 1. Learn to persevere. Heartfelt desires have the power to change the world, but often people never live beyond their wildest dreams. Instead, they give up when things get rough. 2. Let the fact that many famous people failed multiple times before succeeding encourage you. 3. List 100 heartfelt desires in different areas of your life. 4. Recognize that dreams require sacrifice, hard work, and steadfastness. 5. Seek God about what He says you are rather than accept the thoughts in your head. 6. Don't allow the devil's taunts to kill our dreams. In moments of doubt and fear, draw strength from the presence of Christ within. You can conquer anything. Replacing wrong habits with good ones takes continual effort and time. By letting go of fear and placing our faith in God's ability to do the impossible, we unleash our unstoppable potential. This doesn't mean that it isn't challenging. We take part by listening to Him, sacrificing our time, and doing His will. Delight thyself also in the LORD; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (When we focus on our dreams, and not our circumstances, our lives change and joy abounds. Psalm 37: 4, KJV) God fulfills the dreams of those who love him. When we focus on our dreams, and not our circumstances, our lives change and joy abounds.

PLAN AND BE FLEXIBLE BY JULIE CASTRO Ideas or plans from the Lord are usually bigger in scope than our minds can imagine. The instruction I received to produce and direct a movie that will change the hearts and mindsets of mankind toward the sanctity of life, was beyond comprehension. Films require the various stages of development to be recorded – the treatment (one sentence that describes each movie scene), screenplay, budget, and call sheet (written daily production details).
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE
PLAN AND BE FLEXIBLE
These are all written components for movie production, but require flexibility as, “The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps” (Proverbs 16:9, NASB). For my instruction, following Jermiah 29:13, “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (NASB), the direction to produce a movie about life began to unfold and the treatment and screenplay were developed; life would be presented through dance. I began to journal the thoughts and ideas that came to mind that answered the question, “What does dancing the first 40weeks of life look like to Him?” I sought God’s face for the answer and according to Matthew 6:33, the answer was “added.” Since filmmaking was beyond my knowledge I waited, prayed, and sought wise counsel according to Proverbs 12:15. As wisdom, knowledge, and understanding unfolded, the dances were conceived, the production crew was formed, and the costumes and props designed – all with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. I relied on Luke 12:12, “… for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say” (or do for the movie, comments added). The more I waited, the more I trusted the Lord for inspiration and instruction. Even the budget was written in detail. Yes, a budget is part of the vision, especially when God has asked someone to accomplish an idea. One needs to know the finances needed to bring the idea to fruition. Once the funds are determined, the person can petition the Lord for them. He already knows what is needed, but the prayer request shows trust and faith in Him to bring forth that which He has called to fruition.
PAGE 11
Even following the Holy Spirit’s lead, I found myself having to be flexible. Pushback was encountered at all stages of the preproduction and production processes. Cast or crew would become sick, so the filming schedules changed. Studios and outdoor locations were subject to availability. If something went wrong the Call Sheet needed to be rewritten. After two years, filming finished in late 2023. The Lord has brought me to the place of postproduction by faith knowing that, “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NASB). Only the Lord knows the magnitude of the film, it’s His vision. The film is a ministry to save the physical and spiritual lives of His children, as this is the heart of the Lord. I wrote His vision and ran with it. As it is written, “… I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10 NASB). By implementing His plan and seeking Him for guidance and allowing Him to order my steps, I trust that He will finish what He began, as Philippians 1:6-7 promises, “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” (NASB) Follow the progress of I Am Life using the QR code below that will take you directly to the Thirst No More Productions website, or just to cheer us on by liking and following @Thirstnomoreproductions on Facebook and Instagram. BEING PATIENT WHEN GOD PROMISES SOMETHING BY PROPHET SOLOMON JAMES Sometimes, we have to wait for things to happen in our lives. It's like waiting for a promise to come true. In the Bible, there's a part that talks about this. It says, "For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay" (Habakkuk 2:3, NIV).
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE

Trust That It Will Happen
Trust What We Can't See
When we're waiting, it's important to know that there's a special time for things to happen. God has a plan, and His promises are sure to happen, even if it takes some time. Habakkuk teaches us to trust that God's timing is perfect, and what He promised will really come true.
If you're waiting for something, don't be discouraged. Even if you can't see it, God is at work. Trust that He's doing something important, even if it's behind the scenes. The waiting time is just as important as when we see the promise come true.
Believe That It's Worth It Waiting isn't just sitting around doing nothing. It's about believing that good things are coming even if we can't see them yet. Being patient means having a strong and lasting faith. It's knowing that waiting is not a 'no' from God but a chance for our faith to grow. Find God in the Waiting Time When we have to wait, it's like being in a waiting room. But it's not wasted time. It's a special time where we learn to depend on God more. In the waiting, we discover that God is always with us, even if we can't see what He's doing right away. Learn from Nature: Waiting for the Right Time Nature teaches us about waiting. Think about a seed. It gets planted in the ground and waits until the time is right to grow. Our lives are a bit like that. We go through different seasons, and each one has a purpose. The waiting time is when God is preparing something beautiful in us.

SEVEN TIPS TO STAY THE COURSE BY VIRGINIA GROUNDS Tears ran down the face of my husband as he sat in a training session led by a police sergeant. He heard about the need for help for the wounded and God gave him a vision that day. From that vision, a plan took shape for beginning a ministry that neither of us knew anything about and were unprepared for. It was God’s call for our lives. Because the Lord gave the vision, he also gave the plan for something out of our comfort zone.
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE
SEVEN TIPS TO STAY THE COURSE
Yet, out of that plan, 3,000 volunteers received training to respond to the wounded in cases of disaster and crime. Prayer, counsel, and supplies saved and encouraged lives for survival. As an analytical person, it was my job to put the plan to paper with guidelines, training tools, and response kits. Many times, those written documents were the grounding needed to keep everyone working as a team when tensions were high. People may ask, what do you mean “a calling? How do you know?” I believe when God calls us to a mission, he gives a quickening in our spirit, a vision in our mind, and a burning desire in our heart. The vision God gives requires a plan to accomplish the mission and his purpose. It may not be easy or what we thought we would do with our life. But it will be beneficial to others and fulfilling for us. Our calling, therefore, is what God has purposed for us. By acknowledging His purpose, we create the plan. As we age or when we are under stress, we can forget things. Therefore, it is important to have things in writing, especially how you see God at work in your life and the lives of others. The writing and action of the mission become our testimony, giving hope and encouragement to others who may be struggling. Life is hard. We all need as much encouragement as we can get to stay the course, to stand firm in our faith, and to pursue God’s call. Hope is not something to be ignored. It is the confident expectation of something good, and that good is Jesus. He is our living hope. Keeping our focus on him through the trials of life helps us to have the peace that no one can understand.
PAGE 23
The Bible tells us to draw near to God and he will draw near to us. As we draw near daily, we become sensitive to God’s leading. Proverbs 19:21 tells us “many are the plans of man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand” (ESV). We learn from this that unless we seek the counsel of the Lord when making plans, our human intent will unravel. Plans must come from the Lord as he inspires. I am a list maker, but not everyone is. Making a to do list when there are too many activities on my calendar helps me to prioritize and accomplish what is most important. For years, I have been journaling—writing about how I am inspired by God’s word and what he has done in my life. My plan for each day has the same beginning. Get up, make a cup of coffee, sit down with my Bible and notebook to pray, study, and write what God inspires, instructs, and guides me through his word. When I begin each day like this, I can accomplish what is before me. Just as my husband stayed the course of his calling until the day he met Jesus face to face, we can too. So, what can we do to stay the course each year? Make a list and follow a plan. Here are seven tips to help: 1.Draw near to God each day. (James 4:8) 2.Listen for the guidance he gives through prayer and his word. (Prov. 19:20) 3.Ask God to reveal what he calls you to. (Phil. 3:14-15) 4.Write a plan for how to activate the vision he gives. (Prov. 19:21) 5.Serve in life and work with Jesus and others in mind. (Phil. 2:3-5) 6.Make it a regular action to draw near to God. If he is involved in the plan, he will ensure its accomplishment. (John 5:36) 7.Pray and praise him as you go about your day. (Ps. 146:1-2, Ps. 150:6)

SURRENDER TO GOD’S PLANS BY SARAH FERGUSON Since I was a teenager – and I’m in my 40’s now – at the end of each year, I ask God for a “word” to guide me in the year ahead. Most years, God gives me a new word and sometimes He continues with the one from the year before. Some of the words I’ve received in recent years are “rest” and “breakthrough.”
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE
SURRENDER TO GOD’S PLANS
As 2023 approached, I followed this same activity, praying and asking God for a word for the new year. Every time I prayed, I heard the word “shaking.” I was really bothered by this word, and for two weeks I wrestled with God and His idea of “shaking” things in my life. What did this mean? Why would He want to shake things? Since 2020, we’d already been through significant transition: a new school for our children, a new church for our family, a move to a new community, and more. I wasn’t sure I could take another year of transition and movement. But, as I wrestled with God over this, He revealed to me Heb. 12:25-27 (NLT) “Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking…. ‘Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.’ This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.” I knew that God wanted to do something significant – and permanent – in my life, and it required my surrender. While I wasn’t excited about the shaking, I was excited about what might come from it. Enter 2023. My husband and I made plans for the year, both personally and professionally. We established some financial goals and looked with anticipation at the year ahead. But by the end of January, everything started “shaking” in a good way. The doors started opening for significant growth in our business – something we had not anticipated. A month later, God led me to leave my consulting career and focus full time on my family and help my husband build our business. This was a huge financial step for us, but one we really believed God was directing. That same month, we ran into some challenges at our children’s school. (This is the school we had just moved to in 2020, and now we were being led away.)
PAGE 27
Each day our life felt like we were on a roller coaster: We were moving faster than anticipated and holding on for dear life. Just a few months into 2023, we were facing a career change for me, a new school for our children, significant growth in our business, a shaking in our finances, and affirmation along the way that we were on the right path. My prayer each morning became: “Order my steps today according to Your word, God.” (Ps. 119:133) As the year progressed, I started seeing the reason for the shaking. God was answering a much deeper desire of my heart to fulfill His purpose on earth, a life that requires an increased discipline and faith that my life did not have prior. As I write this post, my life continues to “shake.” Some things have settled into a permanence, but other things remain unsettled. As I continue to surrender to God’s plan I am learning to: Hold my plans loosely and lean heavily on the promises of God’s eternal purpose. Value the things eternal in life, versus seeking after the material possessions that make life more difficult and overwhelming. My dreams and desires aren’t always God’s best, and that’s okay. He sometimes sows those seeds of vision for a future reality, but the shaking in my life right now is what is required for His end result. God’s way is straight and narrow and full of discipline and surrender, but the fruit of this choice is much sweeter, life giving, and soul renewing than I could have ever imagined. If God is speaking something to your heart, possibly a word for this year, and you’re struggling to surrender. I strongly encourage you to follow His leading and allow God to transform your life. You’ll be glad you did.

MY VISION AS A GUIDE BY NICOLE KENWOOD-BROWN Like I’ve heard on many occasions the importance of “writing your vision.” Even more so when I became a Christian and realized that there was an actual instruction given to believers underscoring the same. Many of the goals that I’ve managed to accomplish were realized through the employment of strategically holding “the vision” before me and planning accordingly.
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE
MY VISION AS A GUIDE
I didn’t know that having a clear vision before could literally save your life. It was not until I got to a place in my life where everything pointed to the fact that there was no way out and there was no point in staying alive that my vison came to my rescue. It was seven years into my marriage and of course the number 7 is supposed to be God’s perfect number. It’s where everyone tells you that once you get to the 7 year mark, it’s smooth sailing from there and I was absolutely looking forward to set my sails and take off. That, however, was not was in the cards for me. My marriage and life took a nose dive and the discoveries I made brought me to the place of near insanity and suicide. I started to hear voices in my head. I began suffering from suicidal ideation as everything that I knew to be my life had completely shattered and there was no way to pick up the pieces. It quickly came to mind that the eyes of my children were upon me and I truly could not leave them alone. As a matter of fact I couldn’t just roll over and die because I’d come to the end of my rope. In the midst of the darkness, hanging by a thread I decided to take a leap of faith. I began to gather the material. Newspaper clippings, magazine articles, online images, scissors, glue and cardboard. I decided for the first time in my 42 years of life, to do a vision board. I couldn’t actually “write the vision,” because in my mind there was no sense in believing, in living.
PAGE 55
So it started as what was meant to be a distraction, something to take my mind off things, something that would take me away to a place far away from what was drowning me. Something that was not created for me by someone else, but something that, guided by the Holy Spirit, I could create myself. I didn’t need to be confined and restricted by the hurt, pain and heartbreak. I had the privilege and full autonomy to create for myself a world where I could ‘Manipulate My Pain for Purpose.” On my vision board I was an author, a speaker, I was present for my children, I was eating healthy and working out regularly. I had moved away from depression, prioritizing myself and using my experience to pull other women out of brokenness into healed, impactful versions of themselves. Fast forward October 2023, most of what I captured on that vision board has manifested, and is being manifested in my life. I completely understand, some days you just want to roll over and die, but deciding to create a vision for your life where you can dream up scenarios that are foreign to your current happenings, gives you the power to hold your own pen and “write” whatever story you choose to allow yourself to narrate. It just may save your life.

WHEN A VISIONARY DOES A VISION PAGE BY ROSIE J. WILLIAMS I started doing a vision page nine years ago when I bought a planner at a writer’s conference that included one on the first page. They had me at “vision”.
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE
WHEN A VISIONARY DOES A VISION PAGE
Proverbs 29:18(a) KJVAE says “Where there is no vision, the people perish”. I have always been a visionary but hadn’t put that vision in writing. When I began to visualize my areas of interests and big picture goals, it was clarifying and motivating. It was an intentional time of asking God how I could better follow Him and what needed to change. I found myself looking back at my page during the year at times when I felt myself drifting off course or stuck in the mundane. I have been journaling for years and had just begun experimenting with bible and prayer journaling. I dove in armed with stickers, pictures, glue, and all types of ephemera….and pens, did I mention all kinds of pens and markers known to man? I started by thinking about different areas of my life that I wanted to highlight as important for the coming year. I enjoy going away for a day or two of personal retreat in the fall so I can have uninterrupted focus and prayer. The primary reason I love doing a vision page, is that it clarifies my steps forward in areas of faith, family, relationships, career, and health. I was amazed after I did a vision page the first time how much of what I wrote down came to pass for me. An example of that was my first book. The Lord had prompted me to write a book for people who were facing obstacles in having a meaningful quiet time. I began with a title of Jump Start Your Quiet Time. I cut out some letters with the title and pasted them on my vision page. I tried not to overthink it but look at the big picture. As I was preparing for this writing project, I looked back at those old pages and saw that the following year, I had pasted a picture of the actual book which was now published had a title of Repurposed Faith: Breathing New Life into Your Quiet Time. I was surprised at how effective it was to visualize my goals and illustrate the dreams that had been hiding in my heart for years.
PAGE 57
There were some dreams that didn’t get fulfilled, and I would go back to prayer on those things and either delete or transfer them to the next year’s page. There was something about doing an “outline in pictures and color” that sparked my creative side. I start with my faith, praying that God would show me a word for the year which I put front and center on my page. Last year, my word was “rest”. I took a sabbatical from writing and read books on rest which led me to meditate on what it means to “enter God’s rest” in Hebrews 4. This year, I went to a rest retreat where I was able to meet the author of my new favorite book! It was like my vision page came alive! Here are some ideas to create a vision page: Faith: A cross, a sticker with a bible, a picture of a stained-glass window, cut out words to a song from an old hymnal, write a favorite verse from the Bible. Self-care: Hobbies you enjoy, retreats or getaways, pictures of a spa, health Family: Names of close family members, a piece of a map or picture of an airplane, or cute tiny pictures of children or grandkids Relationships: Names of close friends, old friends to connect with and new relationships to invest in Career: Big picture dreams and goals, draw it, paste it, imagine it! One year, I needed to be sure I was following God’s plan and not my own. I looked at Acts 5&6 as my template for what my passion and plans could look like. I thought of the song “Be Thou My Vision” which is now on each new vision page I do. Why? Because that is the desire of my heart!

“WHAT WILL *THEY* THINK?” BY WHITNEY KINNE
Do you know what one question most often stands in my way of following God’s vision in life? “What will *they* think?” My brain, body and heart ask that question, often subtly and subconsciously, hundreds of times a day.
DIVINE PURPOSE MAGAZINE
“WHAT WILL *THEY* THINK?”
In the midst of making a lot of decisions recently, I found myself in that familiar state of analysis paralysis. I paused to check in with God and it became clear my “what will *they* think?” soundtrack had grown louder and louder. It was keeping me from choosing God’s vision as my ultimate goal. The last time I ran across this verse in Galatians, it nearly jumped off the page to reach my eyes. More importantly, God used it to reach my heart and mind to re-center on His vision as my top priority. Paul wrote in Galatians 1:10: “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (NIV) As a woman who deeply cares about others, it is essential you check in with God frequently. How else will you be certain you are not placing the vision, voices and opinions of other people above the vision, voice and opinion of God Himself? If you find yourself in a state of pleasing other people, let’s consider how you can overcome the nagging question: “What will *they* think?”
PAGE 59
I have said "no" to two big volunteer projects in the last couple of years, and both times there were people I love dearly who did not agree with or understand my choice. But I was confident God had different plans for where I invest my talents, time and energy! I could have pleased people, but I would have been distracted from God’s vision for my life. Sometimes following God’s greater vision means we say “no” to something good, so we can say “yes” to His greater plan. Here are some questions to discuss with God the next time you are considering a decision and find yourself thinking more about pleasing people than pleasing God: What faces and names come to mind when I worry “What will *they* think?” How much power should those peoples’ opinions have over my actions? Am I giving someone else more power over my actions than I am surrendering to God?
How often does this question… …keep you from taking specific actions toward the vision you are certain God has called you toward? …cause you to make decisions you wouldn’t otherwise choose for yourself?
Earlier today I was considering asking a friend for feedback on a project at work. With a short moment to pause, I realized her voice was not one that God would affirm as wise counsel on this topic. I was delighted that God so smoothly led me in a different direction, because I stopped to seek Him first.
When I was younger I was quick to make decisions based on what specific friends might think instead of choosing what I knew God wanted.
My prayer for you is this: Seek God first and ask Him to reduce the burden you feel of others’ expectations of you.
Our situations change with age, but worrying about what people think doesn’t automatically go away.
You will never regret being so close to God that you can make sound choices in your life that align with how He is leading you to live. Ultimately you are the one who has to live the daily life and answer to the decisions of your days. Thank goodness for the redemption and reconciliation we are given through Jesus for the decisions we get wrong. We will still mess up, but when we are putting God’s voice first, He helps us get back on the path He designed for us.
My husband’s thoughts and opinions have value in my life, and God has placed him in my life as a leader and partner. However, I can never value my husband’s voice, opinion or vision over God.
Wise Men Still Seek Him Wise men still seek Him Who appeared so long ago. They come now by grace Through faithful hearts aglow
Wise men still seek Him, For He is their "Bread of Life" A sustaining inner strength Through times of sorrow or strife. Wise men still seek Him The Christ of Calvary God's only begotten Son Crucified as sin's penalty. Wise men still seek Him, Jesus, God in human array. PARENTING IN 2024: NURTURING VISIONARY CHILDREN BY DR. VICKI L. OTARUYINA In the fast-paced world, parenting has evolved into a delicate balancing act, steering our children toward not just success but a purposeful and faith-filled life. As we navigate the complexities of modern parenthood, the timeless wisdom of raising children with a sense of vision, prayer, faith, and action on God's Word becomes more crucial than ever. In this article I outline key tips on how to nurture your children in 2024.

PARENTING IN 2024: NURTURING VISIONARY CHILDREN
PAGE 63
Help Your Children See Beyond Today
Practical Tips for Visionary Parenting in 2024:
In a world filled with distractions and instant gratification, instilling a sense of vision in our children is like equipping them with a compass for life. It's about teaching them to look beyond the immediate and envision a future guided by God's plan. Just as Habakkuk wrote down his vision, we encourage our children to dream, visualize, and articulate their aspirations.
1. Family Vision Board Night: Create a family vision board together, allowing each member to express their dreams and goals visually.
Help Them Build A Life Long Communication with God In the midst of busy schedules and technological advances, fostering a culture of prayer within the family becomes an anchor for our children. Encourage them to talk to God openly, sharing their dreams, concerns, and gratitude. Just as Habakkuk engaged in dialogue with God, our children learn the power of a relationship with the Divine—one that guides, comforts, and empowers. Teach Your Children to Trust in God's Plan The challenges of the world can be daunting, but nurturing resilient faith in our children empowers them to soar above adversity. Help them understand that faith isn't just a set of beliefs but a confident trust in God's promises. Like an eagle, faith allows them to rise above circumstances, seeing challenges as opportunities for growth. Show Then How To Have Faith And Turn Faith into Action In a world that values instant results, teaching our children the importance of acting on their faith is a transformative lesson. The Word of God isn't just a set of principles to know but a guide for intentional living. Empower your children to translate their beliefs into actions, fostering a sense of responsibility, compassion, and purposeful contribution to the world.
2. Bedtime Prayer Routine: Establish a consistent bedtime routine that includes a time of prayer. Encourage your children to express their thoughts, joys, and concerns to God. 3.. Scripture Exploration: Regularly explore scriptures together, discussing their relevance to daily life. Choose verses that inspire vision, faith, and purpose. 4. Setting and Celebrating Goals: Teach your children the value of setting realistic goals and celebrating small victories. This cultivates a sense of achievement and purpose. 5. Service and Acts of Kindness: Engage in community service or acts of kindness as a family, reinforcing the idea that faith is expressed through loving actions. As parents in 2024, our role extends beyond providing for our children's immediate needs. Together with God, we are molders of their character, guiding them to become visionaries who pray earnestly, have unwavering faith, and act on the principles of God's Word. In doing so, we equip them not just for success in the world but for a life filled with purpose, guided by a divine vision that surpasses all understanding. May our parenting journey be one that shapes future leaders who, like Habakkuk, confidently declare their visions and trust in the unfolding plan of a faithful God.
Holistic Well-Being in 2024: Nurturing Body and 1. Prioritize Spirit In the hustle and bustle of our modern lives, the pursuit of well-being extends beyond the physical realm to encompass the spiritual dimensions of our existence. As we embark on the journey of 2024, let us intentionally strive for a harmonious balance between our spiritual and physical selves. Here's a guide to nurturing both aspects of well-being in the coming year
Spiritual Growth

Begin your prayers with expressions of gratitude. Reflect on the blessings, both big and small, in your life. Gratitude shifts your focus and sets a positive tone for your conversation with God.
Explore Different Prayer Techniques: Experiment with various prayer techniques to find what resonates with you. Consider journaling your prayers or engaging in conversational prayer where you speak openly and honestly with God.
Use Prayer Prompts
Use prayer prompts to guide your conversations with God. These prompts can be based on specific themes, scriptures, or aspects of your life. They serve as helpful starting points for your prayer time.
Pray with Scripture
Incorporate scriptures into your prayers. Choose verses that resonate with your current circumstances, and allow God's Word to shape and guide your prayers.
