Figure 14: Surface of the thumb depending on the angle while pressing
From the research an interesting obser vation was made . When using the device to type , different movements of the thumb follow. By tabbing the char acter s that are positioned close to thumb, a relative small surface of the thumb is needed. The char acter fur ther from the thumb are harder to reach and need a bigger surface . To please the future user while typing, different sizes of char acter used for the final concepts. The char acter s were placed both at and the back of the product. As a result from the research the punctuation function and enter were placed at the back. When typing the user is within a flow with his thumbs, after his main sentence is finished he gets the possibility to hit on of the back keys to proceed. This division of tasks showed ver y positive results. The user found it quite pleasant to have an alter nating task at the end of each sentence .
