“For me, punk is a way of thinking when it comes to being creative. It’s a form of approach to things, like saying ”fuck you, I’m doing my own thing”. Punk should in my point of view be a form of destructive cultural force, which tries to avoid every single status quo. Punk is about being your self and doing it yourself ” father, so I wanted to play in a band as well, he taught me how to play the guitar as well” - he says. He has played in many different bands, and several different genres. His first band was called “Puturefaction” which was a kind of metal/trash band. Later on he has played numerous smaller bands, primarily just for the fun of it. He also did a noise project, and 3-4 versions of what is now called “Aktiv Dødshjælp” Emil got the interest of music when he was around 10 years old. He had discovered that his grandfather played in a band in the The music Emil plays now is a gathering of 50s. “I have always looked up to my grand- all the thoughts and ideas he has about muEmil is a friend of mine, who I met for the first time at a concert in Copenhagen. Emil is a skater like me, and he plays music as well. He partly introduced me to punk and metal, although I listened to some bands before. I had a talk with Emil about how he started playing music, and his thoughts on punk. The following text is based on that interview.

sic. When he started playing with others, the type of music that they played was very wide and seeking for what they wanted to play. Now he feels that he has a better understanding of what he wants to do with music, and what he will get out of it. Emil grew up in North Zealand with pretty unmusical parents and a fairly decent childhood “I guess”, he says. He says that he has always liked being a bit opposing and thinks that had an influence on the music he know plays.
I asked Emil what his thought of punk was. “For me, punk is a way of thinking when it comes to being creative. It’s a form of approach to things, like saying ”Fuck you, I’m doing my own thing”. Since i started at Bryggeriets Gymnasium, I always dreamed of going on a trip somewhere in Europe. At the end of second grade, I got the opportunity. Oliver came to me and said: ”Eilert and I talked about going to Paris in the summer vacation, do you want to come with us?” I’m pretty sure that I said yes promptly, so we started planning. A week after we finished school, we met at Copenhagen airport, ready to have a good week of fun and we sure did. It was a good time, good weather, maybe a little to warm considering it was first meant to be a “skate-trip”. Well, we made it through the day, seeing things, and going places, until the sun finally made its way down, lowering the temperatures. Then headed out to a spot, which we found the first day, but we brought the video camera this time. I also had my Minolta Film camera this evening and this is where the story begins. We got out of the apartment that evening after eating dinner and headed over to Oberkampf Metro Station. I had few train tickets in my pocket and gave one to Oliver. Eilert went to buy his ticket while Oliver and I went through the gates and waited at the other side. I thought “why not take a picture while Eilert makes his way through 10

the gates?”. I picked up the camera, pointed it towards Eilert and made the shot. Immediately a lady from the ticket office or whatever she was, stepped out from a little room behind the gates. She yelled at me in French, a language which I don’t understand, and pulled me further down the stairs to a middle section between the two stair sets down to the Metro. The police, or ticket controllers stood there. Apparently I had taken a picture off the angry lady, which had not intended to. They held me back and I was actually shaking a bit cause I didn’t know what I had done wrong. They told me: “Delete the picture, that you took of my colleague!” I tried to tell them that I had taken a picture of my friend and not his colleague, while they kept yelling: “Delete the picture, you can’t take pictures in the Metro!” I told them that it’s not possible to just delete a picture like that with a film camera and that I would ruin my film, but they wanted to pull the whole thing out. So they pulled the film out, and my mood was pretty much ruined for the next hour or so. But I hope it made for a good story.

BWOY DE BHAJAN
Bwoy De Bahjan The Copenhagen based music producer Søren Thygesen who goes by the name ”Bwoy De Bahjan”, has a very unique and significant sound. Listening to his music gives you a feel of walking through an exotic landscape, and it is in many ways truly fascinating. Søren took a big risk when he in the of his first year at high school decided to drop out and focus only on music, something he does not regret today. Not only has Søren played around his country Denmark, his latest announcement was a big festival in Australia, and he is as well playing in India this summer. Radar, Aarhus I attended Søren’s last concert in Aarhus at a place called “Radar”. It was a really great concert, but it blew my mind more than I had ever expected! He started out with his classic chill style, and his whole set felt like one long song, though it wasn’t. When it came to the last ten minutes of his set, he had build up an up-tempo almost Drum´ N ´Bass sound, which was so cool, because I’m not used to hearing that from him. People also started getting really hyped when the music evolved!
