This is a document focused solely on my Masters Project, Patterned Nostalgia. A visual document with links to reels, quoted pieces from myself and sketchbook pages. This showcases the processes taken to create this project.
“This final part of my masters was all about exploring the possibilities and potential of pushing the boundaries of what surface pattern can and could be. Creating a concept store, I have explored a large range of different mediums and materials; from wood, jesmonite, paper and of course actual textiles. Thinking about product placement, colour, scale and composition for an overall desirable product.”

“To find my colour schemes, I used to just dissect tones that I liked from garments I owned or things I saw. Which is fine, but I need deeper reasoning to be a better designer. So, I started using WGSN, which I love as a tool. Its really helped give clarity behind my colour theory, alongside backing up fashion trends. I am working on getting a fine balance between looking at trends and being authentic to myself in my work, and I feel that I have got that down now!”

“Last week I curated my own concept store @circlespace.Norwich showing my final MA project; Patterned Nostalgia. It was so exciting to see my work in a professional gallery / shop space. 🌈 And @kerrycurl and @copper.crayon came along to document it for me, thank u so much”

“My mind was instantly drawn to big things because this is my final project on the Masters. I was thinking about installations and pulling inspirations from lots of different practices and contexts including fine artists and music. I produced the idea of starting the projects printing on a big range of different surfaces and not thinking about a final idea or outcome. But I naturally flourished with printing on wood, I found the way that I could continually layer and move the material interesting and fast paced.” Making the plinths https://www.instagram.c om/reel/CQiS6UYqA5Y/?ut m_medium=copy_link

“I have played around with jesmonite and hurculite as these mediums have an experimental design quality, mixing soft and hard materials together. Choosing to screen print on several my pieces, this translated the printing qualities of my printing knowledge and style onto the whole of this project, creating fun and joyful home wears giving my practice a wide mass appeal to surface pattern design.” https://www.instagram. com/reel/COgLp4zDgHM/? utm_medium=copy_link

“I chose to design all these pieces as more functional garments compared to my last projects pieces which were more feminine with floaty synthetic materials. Using softer fibers such as jerseys and cottons has made these pieces more suitable to a broader range of customers and can be worn everyday.”
