Make a splash with some 35 ton visitors Once again, Clipper Vacations brings you Gray Whale Watching from downtown Seattle. NEW THIS YEAR: two Whidbey Island stopover options are available: Coupeville or Langley. Gray Whales are magnificent marine mammals reaching up to 50 feet in length and 35 tons. Every year they migrate north from Baja Mexico to Alaska with their calves in tow. Gray Whales are known as coastal cruisers who stay close to the shore feeding in shallow water. These baleen whales (whales lacking teeth), feed on small crustaceans found in the mud. You will have an opportunity to spot these creatures as they move north on their long journey, stopping to feed along the way — just look for a tall blow near the shore. Knowledgeable on board naturalists give you the best chance for a peek at these special creatures as well as the many other marine life and birds living in the Puget Sound area.

Also includes a visit to Coupeville or Langley on scenic Whidbey Island Unique to Clipper, your day includes a stop in either the historic town of Coupeville or the waterfront village of Langley. Visitors to Coupeville will have two hours to visit the seaport town. Features not to be missed are many historic buildings, stores, and the red wharf building containing the skeletons of a gray whale, a porpoise and a sea lion. Passengers who visit Langley have two hours to explore this village perched on the 60-mile long finger of Whidbey Island. The town is known as an artist’s mecca showcasing galleries filled with local and regional talent, an eclectic mix of jewelers, antiques, clothing boutiques and book stores.
