RAMP: APPROACH ONE SECTION AA

THIS PROJECT, UNFOLDING INTO THE LANDSCAPE TAKES THE EXISTING VALUES OF THE FAMOUS FARNSWORTH HOUSE AND INTEGRATES IT INTO THE LANDSCAPE. THE HEAVY CONTEXTUAL MASS OF THE SITE SLOPE AND INTEGRATING A LIGHT FLOATING STRUCTURE IS THE EMPHASIS OF OUR APPROACH. BY TIEING DOWN THE HEAVY SOIL WITH RETAINING WALLS AND ADDING A LIGHT WEIGHT STRUCTURE FLOATING ABOVE WATER, THE VALUES OF THE FARNSWORTH HOUSE AND KEPT INTACT: THE FLOATING LIGHT STRUCTURE EXISTS RETROFITTED INTO THE AUSTRALIAN LANDSCAPE. THE “UNFOLDING” OCCURS FROM THE VIEW OF THE RIVER, UNFOLDING ITS PLANES TO INVITE GUESTS TO A HEIGHTEN VIEW OF THE RIVER.
