Just a word Firstly I would like to apologise to you all for not attending the forthcoming Wednesday club meeting. This is the second consecutive meeting I have missed, last month was for family reasons, this month it is my annual pilgrimage to all things Saab which this year is being held in Latvia. So whilst you are all enjoying your club evening I will be boarding the ferry to Riga. I would also like to apologise to those of you who were disappointed with the Hog Roast Restaurant on our last drive. I can only say that it was nothing like what had been promised when the organisers visited the restaurant. No blame can be laid on the organisers; they did an outstanding job, as always and were just as disappointed as the rest of us at the service we received. Now onto better things. I am working on an extra drive out for September, probably the 7th, to the Palm Gardens in Elche. Starting in La Marina village and heading north for a change my aim is to approach Elche along the N340 from the Alicante direction and calling into RHS coche clase for a coffee and a tour of the workshop for those who are interested. When I visited there was a Mini the undergoing a complete restoration and a Bentley getting a full respray as well as other work going on. We will then visit the Palm Gardens followed by a drive to La Marina for traditional English Sunday lunch at Rojos for about 10 euros each. Some of you might remember going there after the first Treasure Hunt, everybody agreed that it was a good deal then and although the ownership might have changed I have been assured that the same high standard has been maintained. So put the date in your diary now, 07/09/08. Unfortunately I will miss the drive to RUTA de VEGA BAJA so have a great day out and I will see you in September.
