Theodore Robert Bundy was an American serial killer, kidnapper, rapist, burglar, and necrophile who assaulted and murdered numerous young women and girls during the 1970s and possibly earlier. After more than
a decade of denials, he confessed to 30 homicides that he committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978. The true number of victims is unknown and possibly higher.

Bundy was born Theodore Robert Cowell on November 24, 1946, to Eleanor Louise Cowell at the Elizabeth Lund Home for Unwed Mothers in Burlington, Vermont. His father’s identity was never determined with any degree of certainty.
Bundy always liked being the center of attention but never was , even in high school he wanted to do something big as never even mixed with other kids. After his schooling he went to University of washinton state and later enrolled in a night school to study law.

Even when ted Bundy was convicted alot of people didn’t belive hecould have done it, what was about him that makes you doubt the facts and even your own judgement . The answer lies in his apperance, Ted bundy was a normal looking guy . He was handsome , clean cut , articulate , had big blue eyes that makes you believe in him . How can a young , handsom,”white” , college going guy could
have down such horrific unspeakable things? Some say “he wasn’t part of the “types” , wasn’t a person you would doubt on” But murders don’t come with huge teeth and black eyes , they are one of us only . Him being “white” at that time was a huge reason for his escape , people just didn’t doubt a “white” person at that time . Also women who he kidnapped and
why don’t we doubt him? murdered didn’t look him with suspicion, they would agree to help him and would talk to him . Even his girlfriend at that time , liz even though found a lot of evidence against him still wasn’t quite convienced that he could
do such things. Even with police were linient with him , he was hardly cuffed , his wife was allowed to visit him , he had a kid while he was in the prison. Such kind of murderer was not seen a threat by many.

In late 1974, Ted shifted to utah, where he countinued his pracrice of kidnapping, murdering and raping women. When he was in utah some people in washinton state found the remains of different women on the cascade mountain and even though liz his girlfriend reported that his boyfrirend name is ted and drives the same car and was suspious of him the police was not able him to tie him to the murder but one day when ted was speeding, an officer arrested him because of suspious w omen found in cas-things in his car but still from each other wasnt tied to the murder

Why wasn’t the police able to
The 70s and 80s was an entirely different era imagine communicating through mail and rotary telephones and payphones. While ted bundy was loose on the streets of different states these states didn’t communicated with each other so they couldn’t connect different murderers happening in the same manner .
catch him for so long ?
"didn’t have pooled database , nothing w as electronical, everything w as done through hand even communication w as done through mail"
12 "no DNA capabilties , no technology , lack of resourses and data, relyed on eye w itness and finger prints. People didn’t know what killing without motive was , the term serial killer didn’t even exist back then. So bundy was always one step ahead from them. DNA tecnology didn’t exisit back then so they were very technologically handicapped relying on eye-witnesses and only fingertips . It was very hard to cath Bundy with such few resources

But still held captive till his trail , since Bundy was not handcuffed sometimes he escaped once from the courtroom then after 5 days when he was found , he lost weight and sneaked out of the ceiling window and was on a lose for 2 months

Even after his convection a lot of people supported bundy and didm’t believe that bundy could have done those crimes, a lot women used to come to these hearings out of which ome such woman was Carol who was a close friend of Bundy from Washintion state and had reapppeared in his life, she came to every hearing and made her life’s goal to prove Bundy is innocent . Once when Carol was giving a statement as a character witness , Bundy asked her to marry him , which she agreed to . even after Bundy was sent to Jail Carol was allowed to visit him privately. Later, Carol even got pregrant with Rose Bundy . Along with Carol one person who truely trusted him was Louisa Bundy, Ted’s mother , who was a secrectarty and very ordinary - loving , caring mother who didn’t believe his son could do this and even requested the state to not to give Ted death sentance, she was broken when he confessed.

When Bundy was sent to trial after everything, he was provided a lawyer by the state; he had a charming personality so he was very much involved in his trial and questioning. He was offered a plea deal of life imprisonment but he refused claiming that this makes him look guilty which he is not. So the trial began, the intensity of the crime and the charm-
ing personality of ted Bundy made it very hard for the media to ignore, this was shot and televised for the people to se , the courtroom were always packed by women , one women in particular – Carole who was Ted’s friend from Washington and had reappeared in his life , she would go on record to say he wasn’t guilty along with ted’s mom. Ted case had interest-
Judgement and his trial ing break through like the bite mark model was created of Bundy’s set of teeth to show how they accurately fit in the bruise of Linda Levy , which had never happed before . Once when Carol was called for the character judgement of Ted , while she was on the stand ted asked her to marry hin which she did. Later ted was sentenced
death penalty by the jury for both the murders of kimberly and chi omgea case as ted didn’t confess to his murders yet .

Execution :Burn Bundy Burn Ted Bundy was sentenced death penalty for 2 different cases – the chi-omega and the murder of Kimberly leach. Ted Bundy was kept in prison for 2 years during which he used to meet his wife and even recorded 70-80 tapes telling his side of the story to 2 journalist and wait for death. They even tried to appeal to declare Ted mentally unfit, but after all fail. 2 days before his execution he confessed to 30 murders, rape. He even confessed to necrophilia, which he never mentioned before. Ted was supposed to be sent to the chair, he was given his last meal and he asked his ashes to be spread on the Cascade mountain where he claims “he had found peace” which was also the mountain where the victims remains were found. While every thing was going on inside people were cheering “burn Bundy burn “ and “its fryday” outside , people were celebrating the states victory over him .

Ted Bundy is despised by all not only because of his crimes and his horrific activities but also because he gives the feeling that the people we love, people we care for, we work with, our friends, our neighbors could practice such a thing and we might not be aware. This happened in the 80s but still terrifies people to hear about, May Ted Bundy not rest in peace
What sort of a person could have done these things ?
