loft
two curves
Creating a loft from two curves resulted in a quite simple and elegant form. Limited by only having two curves to create the loft, the generated surface is able to somewhat maintain a sleek form at the expense of flexibility. In terms of economy, this may be difficult to create as they are double curved surfaces. To minimise costs, these surfaces have to be panelled to be planar or one curved in one direction.

The addition of another curve introduced a new complexity within the generated geometry. A greater degree of control and flexibility was also exhibited, this however could be detrimental to the over elegance of the object as the form becomes too complex. The economic issues of the two curved loft also applies in this case.

Similar to the effects of the three curve loft, the addition of another curve creates a more complex surface with more flexibility. While this complexity can detract from the aesthetic quality of the surface, careful tweaking to ensure that flow is maintained through the geometry will help maintain elegance. The four curve loft exhibits similar economic issues as the previous two

voroni 3d
Utilising the voroni 3d function as well as a lofted surface, a fragmented box was able to be formed, with the fragments being somewhat directional. Whilst it its not smooth, the tectonic nature of the produced geometry is somewhat elegant as it is a logical culmination of parts. The tectonic and modularity also allows for some degree of flextibility in relation to the spaces able to be created through removing certain pieces.

Through using a planar surface and delaunay edges, a frame like structure is able to be created, forming a somewhat tangible architectural object. Flexibility of the members are limited in some ways, with the right side of the structure being overly complicated. Overall though, the created geometry has the potential to be made into something that is both elegant and plausible in construction.

This was an experimental piece create with a sphere and the voroni function. The overall form is quite elegant with the pieces being logically exploded out. Movement of these pieces make the geometry quite flexible, however it may lose its overall congruence if moved too radically.
