Review any partnership updates Courtney Kalashian, SJVCEO went over all updates relating to the partnership. The first item being an update on the reorganization within PG&E. She stated that Jason Guntert would be the main point of contact for projects and or issues that arise. If it is a project item he will then forward the information along to Isaias Franco who has been the partners main contact for some time now. CK also updated the partners on the CPUC AB2672 meetings that have taken place over the last two weeks in May. She gave background information on the legislation as well as the outcome of the meetings. CK stated that there may be more meetings to come in the fall in either Ducor or Lindcove. She would update necessary partners as items progress. Samantha Dodero, SJVCEO, gave a brief update on the new logo that is gracing the headers of each attendees meeting agenda. She stated that the logo underwent a refresh earlier this year and hopes that all partners are happy with the finished product. 2.
Review of SCE Project Listing CK turned over the floor to Irfan Parekh, SCE, to go over the project listing. She informed the group that they will not find the listing attached as the partnership did not have time to print it out ahead of the meeting. IP sated that both the Visalia and Farmersville WWTP’s will be done by October. The City of Lindsay will not be moving forward with well #15, but they will be moving forward with the pool pump VFD. The City of Visalia 911 center is moving right along and expected to be completed by the end of the year. CK mentioned that over the course of working with Self Help Enterprises and Paul Boyer, Mayor of Farmerville, they have found out some additional information regarding the WWTP. It is rumored that the city is looking into solar to offset its electricity usage. Omar Faris, SCE, stated that he is not aware of that development but he will touch base with the city and go from there. IP wanted to go over a few changes within the SCE streetlight program with the partners. He stated that for those cities/counties that did not originally sign up for the program they are still able to upgrade streetlights through LIS1 option E. This option allows cities/counties to upgrade SCE owned streetlights to LED’s through a 20-year financing option that will show on the SCE bill each month. Joe Carlini, City of Tulare, wanted to see where the city now falls on the list for funding. IP stated that the city is now #2 in line. JC asked how the city could just move forward without waiting. IP stated that if the city can come up with the 1.2 million up front then they can get the ball rolling. Next Meeting: August 17, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.
JC doesn’t foresee that costs being an issue but he would like to see the ROI laid out to make his case to the city council. OF, SCE, let IP know that the city of Hanford and Porterville both have shown interest in the streetlight program. IP and OF to follow-up. 3.
Review of Staples April Report CK went over the Staples report for the month of April. She highlighted the work that is currently being done through DI, but also wanted to remind the partners that there is still a lot of opportunity for projects and savings outside of DI. She reminded them that they have Rochelle Thomas, SJVCEO, on staff as well as Steve Newvine VIEW PM that are always there to help. CK brought up a few projects that RT has been working on in PG&E territory 1.) WISE program out in Corcoran 2.) Lighting and WISE out in Avenal.
4.
Review of PG&E VIEW Award SD, SJVCEO, gave a brief overview of how the VIEW Award came to be as well as what the award is. She passed around updated status sheets for those partners that are eligible for the award. She stated that the updates were printed before learning about the cancellation of an upcoming event so they do not accurately reflect where partners stand.
Presentations: Natural Gas Pathways: Towards a Clean & Renewable Energy Future for California This presentation is to highlight how renewable natural gas can play a role in lowering GHG emissions and nearing nearzero emissions. Much of the smog and GHG emissions come from the transportation sector and the biggest polluter in that is heavy and medium duty trucks. There are new developments that have come up that help to get near zero truck engines. One technology is 90% lower NOx emissions and will help goods movements to meet the 2050 state targets. Other focuses that will help to move toward near-zero emissions are distributed generation, fast-ramping generation with renewable and power generation with carbon capture. A few real-life examples were shown to partners to show how these products are used in real life situations. Also, waste/biomass to hydrogen/biomethane and power to gas were highlighted in being an emerging technology. Power to gas was one item that many of the partners were interested in as much of the central valley is covered in solar panels. Many of the power to gas projects are being completed in Europe and slowly moving over into the US. Codes & Standards: Zero Net Energy Misti Bruceri presented on what new codes and standards are in place within the state to help advance ZNE in cities. The presentation highlighted some of the best practices of codes and standards as well as how we can fill the gap to meet the state requirement of residential ZNE by 2020. Many of the items highlighted went over the energy loading order 1) energy efficiency, 2) solar, 3) storage. She wanted to emphasis energy efficiency needs to be done before completing solar as many homes receive oversized solar. MB, stated she would be happy to share to the PPT with anyone that is interested. She also stated that she is an open book for those local governments that would like to pick her brain on any proposed ordinance they are looking at implementing. Upcoming Events 1. 8th Annual SEEC Forum, June 14th -15th in Fresno CK handed out the informational half sheets regarding the upcoming SEEC Forum in June. She asked VC who attended last year’s meeting if he thought partners would benefit from attending. VC stated he thought it was very much worth the time for information as well as networking. CK informed the group that the theme of this year’s meeting is bridging the gap from planning to implementation. She hopes partners will be attending. She also reminded the group that the partnership does help cover some of the travel cost associated with attending. 2.
