THE PALACE OF PARLIAMENT: This is the world’s second-largest administrative building (after the Pentagon) and former dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu’s most infamous creation. Started in 1984 — and still unfinished — it has more than 3,000 rooms. A tour is recommended.
THE ROMANIAN ATHENAEUM: The George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra performs a wide array of classical music concerts from September to May inside this exquisite venue, where scenes from Romanian history are depicted on the fresco inside the Big Hall.
REVOLUTION SQUARE: This is where the revolution of 1989 started. The statues around the square represent elements of the communist era in Bucharest. Here, you will find the former headquarters of the communist party, the National Museum of Art, the University of Bucharest Library, the Memorial of Rebirth and more.
