Architecture, as a discipline, profession and a lifestyle, is indeed scary but in lenging and encouraging way. For me being an architect/urban designer is a c contribution to society, a society of different cultures, mindset and needs. It a constant problem solving - sometimes incredibly uninspiring - yet very ant. I do believe a great architecture is a great combination of creativity an thinking, an union of left and right sides of a brain, and an inner perpetuum
I also believe that the process of creating a physical form whether it is a building ban space or the whole city is not less important than a form itself. I feel that indiv and a team work can be well combined and the best approach to a good design is t a strong research. I know that a hard work with a bit of fun will always lead to

Home Ownership Community
South Dhahran Master Plan is a conceptual master plan for a future 1000 ha town in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Comprised of 7,500 villas and a vibrant mix of uses, the development is a model for sustainable, livable, walkable, and energy efficient communities throughout the Kingdom. Well developed neighborhoods together with commercial, cultural, educational and other facilities are organized around the main parkway, containing recreational, cultural and spiritual moments. Parkway is to be maintained with storm water facilities. The master plan integrates open space and joins different parts and/or uses with a variety of connections still keeping neighborhoods closed and safe. The most important facilities are reachable within 500 m walk, all neighborhoods are designed to provide the best pedestrian connectivity. The Master Plan of South Dhahran is designed to provide a community of excellence.

After the World War II the planning conception of ‘central areas’ (first announced in the beginning of the 20th century) was the main idea used in the development of the majority of European cities, and Vilnius was not an exception. A strict hierarchical net of city cores was the goal of this conception which lead to
the rapid formation of new residential districts of Vilnius. Even though all these districts are kind of similar to each other and nowadays have a nega-
tive Soviet allusion, some of the decisions in forming public central spaces were quite innovative and unique. In this project I tried to distinguish those urban spaces of a higher value and give them a new urban life by forming a strong net of connections between central public spaces together with the redevelopment of the surroundings of Ukmerges st. But why is this street so important in Vilnius city urban life? Firstly, it stands out because of it meridian character – the street crosses or/and adjoins with several residential districts, and this is why a clear urban structure of the street needs to be formed so the chaotic streetscape would no longer disturb in the formation of the potential of this place. Secondly, it is one of the main arteries in the city so its redevelopment could lead to the better living conditions of surrounded neighborhoods. However, the open plan structures are dominated in those areas so planners face problems with inarticulared open spaces. Are there any ways for redevelopment them? Definitely yes, if followed those 3
steps:
- to form a specific streetscape which would distinguish the street as a main artery of the city; - to remodel the open plan development to a mixed-use structures; - to create a hierarchical net of public spaces and connections between them.

REDEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC SPACE SYSTEM IN UKMERGES ST. AREA, VILNIUS
A monitoring study of proposed conception. The view from a start point - an entrance to the city. Landmarks are proposed to emphesize and distinguish the proposed core center area.

A strong research of Ukmerges st. area and its surroundings is made according to three important studies: core model study showing the fractal composition of district urban models; urban web theory study on a site showing the existing and potential connection between main public spaces; and a streetscape study identifying different layouts of particular street sections. All three studies are used as a main key to prove the ideas of potential development for the Ukmerges st. area and a final sollution is done according to the findings of these urban studies.

The river. The city. The architect. How these three could build a friendship? Water. Heritage. Urban design. What do these three have in common? Culture. Architecture. Community. Where do these three meet? The objective is to design an annex to the 20th century residential villa which now is a home for the Lithuanian Union of Architects. The place meets three problems: there’s no access to the river, the heritage is squeezed between high-rise glassed houses, there is a lack of cultural function and a quality public place in the area. The annex is designed as a pedestal for the villa so it could be highlighted in the glass-looking background. By organizing cultural function underground with the link to the river a problem of public place is solved while the roof is used as an amphitheater space. At the same time connections between the old and the new are formed.
