The Gathering
People Of Tomorrowland,
welcome to A Whole new adventure
You are invited to start a new adventure, a tale of ancient times… Behold: the Arising of Life. Hello, friends. How nice of you to join us. Come, gather ‘round, for we have a whole new story to tell. You will hear legends of music and myths of laughter, parables of romance and relations of paradise. That, after all, is why you came: to lose yourself once more in the paradise called Tomorrowland. And paradise it will be. We have invited dozens of artists, all of them masters of music, to make sure of that. You will hear veterans such as Tiësto, Armin and Carl Cox; you will dance
to new stars like Zedd, Knife Party and Porter Robinson. You may seek the hard way with Q-dance or drown in Daily Dubstep’s endless bass. You can roam our land of Tomorrow freely, watch Life arise, dance at any stage you want to. None of that matters. What matters is that we are together again, ready to party to our hearts’ content, never mind the outside world. What matters is this: you are here to write your own story. We can’t wait to hear it.
Are you ready for The Gathering? Dreamville gathers, and now our tale begins. It shall not end until the music stops. Tomorrowland, get ready for us! Dreamville, city of grass fields & canvas roofs, has housed Tomorrowland’s citizens since time immemorial. You are more than welcome to see it turn into a place of bustling activity for yet another weekend, and of course, your arrival must be

Don’t see your flag? Meet up @ Mainstage, Friday, 2pm.
Hello World
These days, a holiday abroad doesn’t count without at least one festival visit. Tomorrowland is a popular choice. Hello world! MAINSTAGE MEETUP FRIDAY, 2PM
Last year, we boasted about how Tomorrowland should really be called Tomorrowworld, what with seventy-six different nationalities present. That prophecy has since been fulfilled see page 9 and it seems even more parts of the world have caught our virus. This year, we have people from 92 different countries coming in just by plane. We’ve actually lost count of the people coming to us by car, bike, boat, bus, helicopter, and what have you, but the total tally is estimated to be above a hundred. Which means that this week-
end, you will be surrounded by people from more than half of the globe. Let’s say that again. A hundred different lands. That’s more than the number of countries that won medals at the latest Olympics. In fact, we’re starting to rival multicultural cities like New York – even though New York’s population is 150 times as large as Dreamville’s. Let’s not focus on the numbers too much, however. Let’s focus on the opportunity. Whether you’re from Belgium, Afghanistan or the
Faroe Islands (yes, we know you’re all here), you will be enjoying the Arising of Life together. So, people of Tomorrowland, say hello to the world. Strike up a conversation with that neighbor carrying the funny flag. It might earn you a friend for life, or a good story at least. And to all those from abroad: fly your colours! Tomorrowland thrives on diversity and we love to see where you’re from. So come to the mainstage, Friday at 2pm, show the world who you are, and get this weekend started together.
Two lucky birds from each country have been invited to the international meetup at the mainstage VIP. Come show your support, fly your flags, and make friends too! Everyone’s invited at the mainstage, Friday 2pm. Bring flags, national symbols, and bodypaint!

MEMORIES
DAVID GUETTA “I wanna thank all of you, this is my favourite party in the world. You are my favourite people – this is why I do this, for you. This gives me motivation, this is Tomorrowland!”
For all those who were there last year, and for all those who wish they had been: a look at Tomorrowland’s previous chapter. The Book of Wisdom, as it was called, can be summarized in 3 words: hot, hot, hot. First of all, the weather was god-damned hot. With temperatures blazing right past 30 degrees Celsius, it was no wonder that the indoor stages smelled a bit funky. But that’s a small price to pay for a whole festival weekend during which your sweater never left your suitcase. The tropical conditions also made people get up early and go to bed late, turning Dreamville livelier than ever before. And once the music got underway, there was no stopping the crowd. Sunlight seemed to whip each and every one of them into a slightly higher plane of euphoria than is usual even for Tomorrowland. It also made them remove their clothing – more on which later. Second, we can look back on a roster of artists that was hot, to say the least. Some of our mainstage guests were now worldwide chart-toppers, after playing at Tomorrowland for years (we like to think the latter has something to do with the former, by the way). For those weary of huge, roaring crowds, there was a swath of smaller podia, each manned by the crème de la crème of the underground. And believe us when we say these sweaty tents went off just as hard as the sunny mainstage. Again, with lots of people removing their clothes. Which brings us to our third point: the people (yes, you). Following suit with artists & elements, they too were incredibly hot. No, but really – there seemed to be no end to the successions of pretty girls and handsome men prowling the festival area. There was no dance floor exempt from the exposure of muscled chests and flat stomachs by the overheated crowd. Those who kept their clothes on were largely dressed in flags, banana suits and other fashionable outfits, keeping up with Tomorrowland’s ‘anything goes’ atmosphere. A bit of bare skin or a silly costume isn’t enough to make anyone hot, however. If you ask us, it was in the smiles. Sun, music, drinks, fun – it’s the stuff of dreams, and that showed in people’s faces, making them shine as bright as the sun itself. Which, we remind you, shone very brightly at the time. Of course, we can’t possibly hope to do Tomorrowland 2012 true justice on a single page. We’d need a whole book for that. What we can do is ask you to surpass last year’s edition – making this one even hotter. Show us some smiles of the above-mentioned calibre again, and we’ll be up for a hell of a weekend!

The best place to wake up is in a dream During years past, it has been called many things. ‘City of Dreams’, ‘ungodly muddy mess’, ‘that place where those crazy campers stay, in their leaky canvas shacks’, and even ‘home’ – for a weekend. A true Dreamville denizen knows that all those terms are compliments. For Dreamville is not about comfort, nor even about sleep. It is about Tomorrowland and its people. You, your friends, your neighbours (who will soon become your friends), that girl who lent you her sunscreen (but disappeared before you could make friends with her), the pavilion tent-dwelling group down the road who invited you for a beer (and have thus become your friends) after you took the wrong turn trying to find your own spot back… we could go on, but no need. If you’ve been to Dreamville before, you know what to expect, even though a few surprises have been added as always. If you haven’t, well, you’re about to find out. Go, explore Dreamville, and oh… mind our photographers. Enjoy!
MARKETPLACE
The bakery
As always, Dreamville will be equipped with a market place to rival your average shopping mall. Supermarket, camping store, clothing & accessories shops – you name it, and it can be found at the big rainbow gate, right before the Main Avenue.
What better way to break your fast than with freshly baked bread? The bakery’s team will be slaving away all night just so you can get your morning delight. Want to know where to find it? Just follow the smell…

Only Towels Allowed After a long day (and night) of dancing, drinking, jumping and having fun it’s no wonder you’re tired. And sweaty. And dirty. And ready for a moment of relaxation. If so, we’ve got some great news for you! Locate on Dreamville, for the first time there is an authentic Finnish sauna!
NEVER FORGET
It is never an easy thing to gather your stuff, leave for the festival grounds, and get it right the first time. Without having to go back for stuff you thought you wouldn’t need, that is. Here are a few pointers on what not to forget: Your friends Ridiculous or sexy outfit (preferably with pockets) (boring outfits are strongly discouraged) • Sunscreen (seriously, do it!) • Smiles, lots of smiles • Wallet, containing money, tokens, and possibly condoms • Phone (charged) • Sunglasses (may also be worn at night) • Extra pair of underwear to fling into favourite DJ’s face • Lighter (great for making friends!) • Chewing gum (possibly even better for making friends) • Our own sexy self (best for making friends) •

The More You Know! SHOWERS Whereas Tomorrowland is for getting down ‘n dirty, Dreamville is for freshening up and catching some Zs. But not too many. To reward those early risers who make camping mornings bearable, a shower will only cost 1 token before 9:00am; it’s 2 tokens afterwards. Showers are paid with ordinary consumption tokens.
At the Hoyry Club you can enjoy the special steam, which is produced by throwing water onto a traditional Finnish heater called KIUAS that’s powered by logs. Next to that, the residents of Hoyry Club will provide you with music meant for chilling. DJ Samu will play tracks ranging from rock ‘n roll to Finnish folk, just to get you in the right mood. Alone, with friends, with strangers, it’s a place to meet new people.
The Main Avenue
So grab a towel, a couple of friends and take a little break from the madness that is Tomorrowland at the Hoyry Club at Dreamville. See you there!
Your route from Dreamville to Tomorrowland, and back…
SHOWER
The gates to Tomorrowland open daily at 12.15pm, but for you, the magic begins 12 o’clock sharp! As a citizen of Dreamville you’re ensured of a superior connection to the festival. The Main Avenue is a path specially built for Dreamville inhabitants like you. It takes you to the festival grounds, passing by rolling fields and rustling trees. You can reach the campsite at any time, to chill out at your tent or to enjoy Dreamville’s various facilities. Should you run into trouble, you can always ask one of our employees for help. They are glad to be of service.
NICE TO SAY We TML Today reporters have noticed that Dreamville is full of people with things to say, but we can never fit them all into our newspaper. This year, there will be a megaphone crew roaming the camping fields. Use their equipment, say what you want, and make it heard!
TENT TROUBLE If you’re having trouble setting up your tent or unpacking your stuff, Dreamville has just what you need: neighbours! Surely, those handsome men can wrestle your canvas into just the right curve. Or perhaps the girls next door can hold onto your herrings while you put up your pole. Have fun!

TOMORROWLAND TODAY PHOTOGRAPHERS
After a breathtaking day at Tomorrowland, your return home will be a lot less wearisome at the peaceful Main Avenue. Various lighting effects give your evening stroll back to Dreamville a very special dimension… See you guys there!

You’ve arrived at Dreamville. You’ve gone to the Gathering, you danced, you sweat, and now it’s time for a refreshing shower. You grab your beauty case and… damn. All your preparations be damned, you forgot the soap. If this is you, not to worry! Ecover has been kind enough to supply us with several thousand bottles of shower gel, freely available for boys and girls at every shower unit. In keeping with Tomorrowland’s eco-friendly policies, Ecover’s gel is 100% bio-degradable and will not hurt the pretty little birds & butterflies of Dreamville. So go ahead and shower to your heart’s content!

VOICES of Tomorrowland You are walking towards the mainstage and decide to order a drink at the bar before you continue dancing, but suddenly you hear a voice covering the area. We hear you thinking: “Who’s that guy on stage holding the mic?” Well, that’s MC Stretch! One of the many MC’s performing at Tomorrowland 2013. We tried our best to let the best masters of ceremony come to Boom to guide you through this amazing weekend of musical entertainment. MC Stretch will make sure that the interaction between the artists and the crowd at the mainstage is flawless, for three full days. MC Shurakano, MC Gunner and MC Villain will also let their voices be heard on all three days; Shurakano in the Samsung Galaxy Secret Forest, Villain at the well-known Q-dance stage and MC Gunner will even represent three different stages. Actually, there are too many MC’s to mention them all in this article, but we’ll give you the opportunity to meet some faces. There we go!
Written in the stars
Tomorrowland Rules… Bring the madness! The world is waking up to the importance of dance music. We are at the forefront of an awakening like never before. 25 Years ago in London we had the acid explosion. It changed lives, set trends, brought people together and introduced a teenage Stretch to House music. Ever since then, the culture has grown into a way of life. Every genre of music has its own lovers & haters, but I’m with the theory “if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it”. Don’t be hating on anybody for revealing their souls, hopes & dreams through the music. You’re a fool if you have hate in your heart anyway.
Welcome to Tomorrowland. The final destination, a little universe within our boring reality. A hide-out from for everyday troubles, a world full of magnificent things that you could only dream of. No one knows what this weekend’s going to bring. No one? Well, maybe someone. Find out what’s waiting for you right here… March 21 to April 20
Villain
We all have this weekend in front of us to prove to the world that we are the future, and that we can change the world together. Love will save us all, so whoever you are and wherever you’re from, when setting up your tents or checking into your rooms, find out who your neighbour is, smile and say hello. It costs nothing!

You’re the Obi Wan to our Skywalker, the Aragorn to our Frodo, the Braveheart to our Scotland. Full of determination to enjoy Tomorrowland to its fullest, you lead the way. You’re the one holding the flag so you’re friends know where to gather. Be careful though. In your enthusiasm you could take things a bit too far. Listen to your friends when they’re trying to keep you away from stagejumping during Steve Aoki!
The silent muscle of the group. Passion is your strong point. Dancing ‘till you can’t dance no more, only to dance some more when the beat kicks in once again. A true Taurus, you’re easy going until someone yanks your tail. If there’s a Libra amongst your friends, keep them close. They’ll be able to sets things in perspective for you. A spilled beer during Carl Cox isn’t really that bad.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you too live every moment to the maximum and enjoy the fairytale that Belgium has created for all of us to enjoy! We celebrate 9 years, 9 years only, and the fact that we’ve come such a long way since the very beginning. This year there are over one hundred different nationalities being represented with tickets being purchased from all 4 corners of the globe, WOW! I have yet to see the stage but I’m pretty sure that, after last year’s amazing structure and the team behind production, it will once again be a mind-blowing experience… Have a safe and brilliant Thursday night, see you in Tomorrowland!
23 to August 22
You have a big, very big heart. A natural born lover. Casanova on steroids. You did pack ‘protection’, didn’t you? Don’t go looking for love in every corner of Tomorrowland. It will present itself. It may be the boy you’re bumping into while fighting your way to the bar during Steve Angello, or the girl with those weird sunglasses dancing at the Q-dance stage. It’ll come to you. Don’t worry.
Virgin
A walking agenda, you know everything at any moment everywhere. You should apply for stagemanager next year! Efficiency you hold very dear and by now you’ve figured out the best way to get smashed as quickly as possible, we guess. Good for you! But it’s a whole weekend, so keep calm and drink slowly! Go see Markus Schulz. Cause what’s more efficient than one DJ at one stage all day long!

Dora the Explorer ain’t got shit on you. Indiana Jones was your grandfather. Exploration is your middle name. As a strong believer in change, you’re always searching for the next thing. Capricorn
A loner, that’s what you are most of the time. That’s fine and all, but that’s not how we roll at Tomorrowland! Open up to the madness, to the colors and sounds! You are the most patient potato here, and are able to take a step back and see the big picture. If you do need some help with that, hop on the ‘Cloudrider’, the giant ferris. Independence and freedom are the two things you stand for. It’s not unusual for Gemini to wander off and lose sight of their friends, who’re huddling up to see that particular DJ. As long as you have an agreed upon point of return, you’ll be fine. May come in handy to bring along a timetable, with your favorites marked in advance. Tomorrowland welcomes you with so much to explore and to enjoy!
It may seem too obvious, but you’re the most balanced person in the group. Making friends all over Tomorrowland from all over the globe, that’s what you love doing. Don’t let minor setbacks ruin the fun for you! What happens at Tomorrowland, stays at Tomorrowland. Be free, be wild, be happy and be sexy! Our tip for the weekend: have a look at the Minus stage this Sunday. Nothing’s as balanced out as!

Scorpio
In normal life, you don’t really like changes, surprises or unpredictable things. But this is the weekend where you can let it all go! You like luxury, so check out the real Finnish sauna called The Hoyry Club at Dreamville this year. Calm your moodswings with steam, while making new friends who’re also wearing nothing but towels. Or visit the restaurant where you can enjoy a meal prepared by the very best chefs around.
You may act like you don’t care, but you do. You may go nuts on Korsakoff at the end of the day, but secretly spend the hours before listening to Esther Duijn. Don’t be ashamed of your soft side. It makes you even more attractive to all those other beautiful creatures of Tomorrowland. We’ll love you anyway. We’ll smother you with affection. Love overdose. You cranky loveable you <3

Your fantasy and creativity make up a big part of your being. You’ll feel at home immediately at Dreamville for sure. During the nights, various light effects on the main road will escort you to your tent, stimulating that feeling of awesomeness and wonder you had all day. The tension you felt on your way to Tomorrowland has made place for pure joy. You’ll return home full of energy and ideas, totally recharged.
Pisces Whatever happens, happens. You don’t look to far ahead but just enjoy the moment. A calm personality, you follow the crowd. At Tomorrowland, try to do something you’ve never done before! No, we don’t mean sex with strangers. But if everybody rushing to the mainstage for some artist, turn around and find something like the Cocoon Heroes stage. The sweet sound of grandmaster Sven Väth may just reveal a side of you that you’ve never encountered before!

All you had to do was make the most unique and awesome picture or video with ‘The Arising of Life’ and the Tomorrowland logo and post in on the official Tomorrowland Facebookpage. And damn, thousands of you submitted brilliant pieces of work. But there can be only one…

JULY 25TH 2013
It’s always important to stay connected, especially at a festival like Tomorrowland. For several years, Charge Stations have been the standard practice at every festival, but this year it’s time for the next step. ‘Laad Maar’ rents portable chargers that recharge your phone in two to three hours.
3.
You can now charge your phone during the festival or just overnight in your tent and return the charger when your phone is charged. Renting a portable charger costs one token but beware: there will also be a deposit of seven tokens. You’ll get them back when you return the charger. Note: try to hand in the charger at the point where you got

it. That way it can be recharged quickly, and handed over to the next customer. The portable chargers are available at the DreamVille Market, the Infopoint and Buurthuisjes (community centers) at Dreamville.

Marina
A flock of strange visitors has been sighted all across Tomorrowland. They hail from a newly discovered dimension, known only as ‘Art for Thought’. Can you spot every one of them?

Name: Marina - pop Age: 90-something Birthday: Yes please, the more the better! Favourite scent: Patchouli with a dash of Eau de Cologne 4711 makes me rather moist. Favourite destination: Straight to third base, thank you. Favourite movie: Shaving Ryan’s Privates. Pyjamas or nightgown: Stark naked my friend! Contact lens or glasses: Blindfolded, with handcuffs. Favourite quote: “If you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” What brings you to Tomorrowland? I’ve known Manu & Michiel Beers (the founders of Tomorrowland - eds.) since they were still wearing diapers. And won’t you look at them now… Anyway, I was there eight years ago, when you could still buy your tickets at the door! I haven’t missed an edition since.

‘Floor’, the new youth platform for lifestyle around flowers and all what’s green, will also attend Tomorrowland in the form of Flowerqueen Floor, who will be handing out free flower tiaras.
She will be wandering around near the Pearl tent. Do not hesitate to pose with her and get a fresh picture taken while showing your flower power side because every day she will choose a Flowerqueen or Flowerking. The photo of this person will appear in the fesitval paper of Tomorowland Today. However, all photos can be found at floor.be, so reason enough to have a peek. Do you like this idea? Go find the Flowerqueen near the Pearl tent! We hope to see you soon!

Maison Bru Restaurant
Luxe Hamburger at De Burgerij
This has become a tradition: enjoy a meal made by Wout Bru and his colleagues, served by a waiter with a glass of wine and a view on the huge mainstage. Wout Bru’s restaurants won 3 toques in the French edition of Gault & Millau. Maison Bru is totally sold out, so if you didn’t buy a voucher in advance you have to wait until next year.

Alain from the Antwerp-based café Lombardia is an ambassador of healthy food and he is no stranger to Tomorrowland. During past festivals, he has already prepared many vegetarian and vegan dishes for the performing artists, including for Moby in 2009. Are you the next artist to discover the delicious “Tomorrowland Magic Mushroom” and earn the next stamp?
Sandwiches
Belgian Fries
Fresh Smoothie
Some Belgians believe that the term “French” was introduced when American soldiers arrived in Belgium during World War I and consequently tasted Belgian fries. They supposedly called them “French”, as it was the official language of the Belgian Army at that time. The potatoes used for these fries are hand-peeled, resulting in: very authentic and tasty Belgian Fries!
After the fries and hamburgers, it may be time for you to get that vitamin level back and make it to healthy levels on Sunday. Fresh fruit, blended into a healthy cocktail: this bar offers you everything to make your mother proud and collect 1 stamp. Get your healthy smoothie at Dreamville or Tomorrowland!
When breakfast is over at the camping, where you can see and enjoy our own ‘Good Morning Bakery’, you can still enjoy these fresh baguettes and earn a stamp exclusively at the food court near Stage 1, the Butterfly stage.
International Street at DreamVille
Sushi
Belgian Strawberries
Authentic Pizza
Look around; the world’s food is united at Tomorrowland and Dreamville! If you are a Dreamville guest, you’ll find 6 international food stands to choose from at the front market place. Mexican, American, Greek, French, Spanish and Belgian food, each country can serve you a great dish and a stamp to get your Mojito!
Nothing better than fresh handmade sushi by Asian Sushi-chef Duy. Enjoy your raw fish dish and get that extra stamp!
This morning these strawberries were still sunbathing on the field, now you can enjoy them at Tomorrowland, thanks to Veiling Hoogstraten. Handpicked for you, one stamp for a small portion of this healthy and 100% Belgian fruit.
Backstage, more than 10 people are preparing the pizzas for the festival, all day long. Italian Chef Pepe d’Amici (La Botte) helped to make the best tomato sauce ever! These pizzas are baked in a wood oven. It can’t get any fresher and better than this. One slice of pizza gives you that extra stamp you’ll need.

No one is more representative of Tomorrowland than Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, the duo from Willebroek. Dimi & Mike rose to fame just as the festival did and this weekend, they’ll be performing at both the mainstage and at their own Smash the House vs. Dirty Dutch podium – just like last year. Their grandfather Karl Mampaey – aka Bompa Vegas – lives nearby and proudly watches his grandsons blast heavy bassdrums through his back yard every year. We got together (first with grandfather, then with grandson) to ask them this and that about Tomorrowland, old times, and growing up to choose your own path.
LIKE GRANDFATHER… Dimitri and Mike are known to some as the ‘Kings of Tomorrowland’, how does that make you feel? Bompa Vegas: To us, as their grandparents, it’s fantastic that they can be a part of such a big, impressive festival. Many people from around the area don’t know Tomorrowland that well yet. They were invited to the grounds once, but you have to see the festival in action to grasp its real size. Three years ago, we first went to watch the boys play and we had no idea what to expect, apart from ‘boom boom boom’ (laughs again). But I was thoroughly impressed, not in the least because everything was put together so well. There’s plenty of emergency exits, and you can always jump into a pond if the need is dire (another hearty laugh). What we have difficulty understanding, though, is the positive hysteria of the crowd. When we were young, we never saw anything like this. And three years ago, we were on top of the mainstage mountain and we almost needed binoculars to be sure it was really our boys playing the music. It’s that big. And then a Dutchman came along, asking what old folk like us were doing here. He found it so cool, though, that he went and bought us a beer. Can you imagine that? A Dutchman buying rounds?” As neighbours, how important is Tomorrowland to you? BV: “Well, there’s no way around it. I buy a newspaper every morning at a store by the Kerkhofstraat and their back yard is right above De Schorre (the official name of the Tomorrowland grounds – eds.) The cashier knew that our boys would be performing there and she found it unimaginably cool. In the meantime, the store changed hand and the new owner had no idea what was happening to her when one Monday morning, she couldn’t open her shutters because three young men lay asleep against them. Especially the part where they kept telling her how they’d had the best weekend of their lives was baffling to her.” When the boys started making music, did you understand what they were doing? Were you supportive? BV: “I have to be honest… I tried my utter best to turn them into athletes. It might
have pleased me better to see them compete in the Champions League, even though they are now squarely in the Champions League of music. When they still lived on Ibiza (where Dimi & Mike used to work before Tomorrowland became their home), they had jobs as hotel entertainers. I found it amazing how they managed to do so much with so little – you could see there was some kind of talent in there. But once the hotels started turning into all-in resorts and the people began getting drunk early in the afternoon, their job got very difficult. Still, I didn’t understand why they switched into a music career.” Was there no hint of musicality when they were little? BV: “Dimitri’s always been creative and a little odd. When he was mad at his parents, he’d always out his frustration in peculiar ways – by hanging up notes expressing how he felt around the house, for example. You could tell he was made to be on some kind of stage. And Mike always was a singer, or a ‘rapper’ as they call it nowadays. Did the age-old question whether they would be able to make a living out of music matter to you? BV: “I’ve always doubted if they could. Music is a risky business. A place at the top is not something that comes easily, and you can lose it just as quick as you gain it. Myself, I grew up with the idea that one should strive for a steady job with a steady income. When the boys had to help out around the shop, however, you could tell by their faces that they were not cut out for it. When they are forced to do a thing, they will not do that thing. That does not diminish their capacity for hard work though; they would never have made it to this point without that skill. Success is something you do need to force, and I think that’s exactly what Dimitri and Mike did. I am a very proud grandfather.”
26
…LIKE MIKE & DIMITRI VEGAS! With Tomorrowland in full progress and TomorrowWorld just around the corner, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike are working around the clock to get everything done on time. “A whole lot of coffee!” says Dimitri when asked how on earth the brothers keep up with all the madness surrounding them. You’d think they’re only focusing on these two major events right now. “Unfortunately, we don’t get two weeks off to bury ourselves in Tomorrowland and TomorrowWorld. While fine-tuning the anthem, preparing our set and show and everything else, the tour goes on. No rest for the wicked!” Currently the brothers are touring through Europe. And after Spain, Sweden, Belgium, the UK and more they’re heading straight for the US of A! Do they ever stop for just a moment, and think ‘what the hell is happening?’ “No, not for a moment. The only thing on our minds is the next gig, the next track and everything else that has to be done”. It’s going to be magical and unforgettable, Dimitri promises. “We’ve got so much new material to play!” Considering their reputation as producers of big and bombastic dancefloor filling tracks, you (as visitor of Tomorrowland) are in for a whole lot of breathtaking beats. “And champagne. Lots of it!” Dimitri laughs. One of those much anticipated tracks is ‘Chattahoochee’. As many of you may know, the very first edition of TomorrowWorld will be at the Chattahoochee Hills near Atlanta, Georgia (USA). “We chose this title because we thought it was only appropriate to introduce the word ‘Chattahoochee’ to the world, with TomorrowWorld coming up so fast. It has that tribal touch that we like to bring back in many of our tracks like ‘Wakanda’. Not only musicwise is their upcoming extravaganza at Tomorrowland something you simply cannot miss. “Next to the sh*tload of new tracks, we’re using a lot – a lot – of visuals.” Imagine that – just when you thought they could not possibly make their gig any bigger, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are going to pull something new yet again. Maybe Tomorrowland didn’t win that IDM Award for nothing, after all. And the best thing: you reading this means you’ll be a part of it! “You guys are the lucky ones. It’s going to be epic, crazy, pure madness!” Dimitri says. “We can’t wait to see you all at the mainstage, and party hard together!”

THE GATHERING
Murdock 22:30 – 23:30
His name comes from the A-Team’s wacko but being the entrepreneur he is, Hans Machiels should’ve named himself “Murdoch”, after the Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Ever since James Brown’s death, Antwerp based DJ, label boss and party promoter Murdock can easily apply for the title of hardest working man in showbizz. His DJ activities ask for a 5-day weekend and his parties attract more people than most venues can hold. In between all of that he took some time out for a Q&A with Tomorrowland Today. You’ve probably been asked this question a million times before, but how did drum & bass become this huge (again)? Murdock: The “DnB revival” started about two or three years ago when producers such as Sub Focus, Chase & Status, Camo & Krooked, Danny Byrd and Brookes Brothers injected the genre with electro and house sounds. Also, adding vocals became cool again. The refreshed DnB sound instantly became more accessible to people who were generally used to Booka Shade, Crookers and 2ManyDJ’s. On top of that, dubstep came along and since the two styles appeal to the same crowd it didn’t take long before the spotlight was set firmly on both.
detect a hint of real talent, can count on my full support, even if his or her style isn’t really up my alley. At the moment, I am really down with Belgians such as Atmospherix, Syndaesia, Grimelock and Science and UK producers AMC, Dubba Jonny and Stanza. Being well respected and well-connected in the scene, you have been vital for pushing Netsky to the top. Are you working with any other protégés at the moment? Murdock: Anyone that is serious about making music and in whom I can detect a hint of real talent, can count on my full support, even if his or her style isn’t really up my alley. At the moment, I am really down with Belgians such as Atmospherix, Syndaesia, Grimelock and Science and UK producers AMC, Dubba Jonny and Stanza. Netsky’s buzz has been good for your career too since the last year you’ve been going at a dazzling speed. Murdock: The Netsky buzz has been really good to everyone who is involved in drum & bass. It has opened people’s eyes to see the possibilities of the music and it has made the genre acceptable as the new peak time music, even at non-DnB parties.
I’ve never really tried to achieve any of those things, to be honest.
How and when did you roll into music? Murdock: I started buying records when I was 18. At university I met Edwin (part of Ed & Kim) who already had a huge stack of vinyl and I used his records to play out, mainly mixing techno, house and breakbeat. Meanwhile I was primarily buying hiphop and funk and mixing that as well. I bought a raggajungle track once in a while but I wasn’t entirely convinced right away.
So when did the jungle fever got a hold on you? Murdock: I remember being all shaken up after a jungle night at the Brussels PK venue, it must’ve been around 1994. A shitload of London based soundsystems, dj’s, MCs and dancers came down to Brussels for a big Jungle showcase. Back then people in Belgium couldn’t care less about that style of music and the attendance at the party was amazingly low, maybe 60 or 70 people. But the vibe and the music were amazing. I was sold. Are you working with any other protégés at the moment? Murdock; Anyone that is serious about making music and in whom I can
31
For the last couple of years, you’ve also spent some time in the studio, how’s producing and remixing working out for you? Murdock: To be honest, I hate sitting behind the computer for long stretches of time on my own, so I’ll never be the sound scientist that breaks the barriers and sets the new standards. But when I’m joined by someone that I can have fun with, I like studio time a lot. Working with Netsky, Ramon Tapia and Atmospherix, for example, has been a lot of laughs and good times. You’ve achieved quite some things: played at the coolest spots, share friendships with some of the scene’s biggest names. What’s still on your to-do-list? Murdock: I’ve never really tried to achieve any of those things, to be honest. Most often the best things happen because somebody steps up with a proposal and everything else comes naturally after that. The main thing is making sure my parties and DJ sets are the best they can be.

TIËSTO FOCUS ON MAGICAL FRIDAY Mainstage 22:30 - 00:00 A deejay at a young age, Tijs Verwest adopted the name DJ Tiësto and has captivated worldwide audiences ever since, with his track selection that ranges from trance to progressive. His technical skills are also rather unique; he can destroy the decks like few can and raise the crowds’ energy like this was his calling. And his calling it is.
So, how does one become Tiësto? Here’s the tutorial.
So, how does one become Tiësto? Here’s the tutorial.
Tiësto’s popularity began to grow during early 2000s. Since then, his career has been peppered with a lot of innovative moves to expand his fan base. It began with his six-hour long ‘Tiësto Solo’ sets that he performed in concerts. The idea of a DJ playing to a large crowd through the night without other guest DJs or even opening acts was original. His consecutive performances were big sellers making Tiësto the first DJ ever to hold a solo performance concert in a stadium.
Riding the wave of success, he was also asked to perform for 90 minutes at the Summer Olympics in 2004. Again, he set the benchmark for being the first DJ ever to perform live in the opening ceremony. While Tiësto has some very impressive studio releases, it is, like most deejays, his live sets that let you in on his prowess. Anybody lucky enough to have caught one of his sets will agree that they were blown away by the force, power and melody that he demonstrated. In fact, Tiësto has become

AVICII
FOCUS ON INCREDIBLE Saturday Mainstage 22:00 - 23:30
After an incredible 2010 - with worldwide hit singles like Bromance and My Feelings For You plus hit remixes of Tiësto, Robyn, David Guetta, and Bob Sinclar – the Stockholm-born Avicii made both 2011 and 2012 his ‘moment of glory’. Avicii had only been producing a few months when his friends noticed that the productions were amazingly professional. Later they realized they witnessed the birth of a great talent. Avicii started out by doing a remix of the theme music for the Commodore 64 game Lazy Jones, but decided to let it go as it inspired him to make his own ‘Lazy Lace’. That song was released almost immediately on Strike Recordings. Since then, the world has been his playground, to say the least. Avicii was instantly fascinated with producing and spent many hours in his home studio creating one fresh tune after the next. He never tried to get caught up in a specific subgenre of house, but wanted to keep the productions up to date and innovative. Avicii’s music is inspired by the likes of Laidback Luke, Steve Angello and Tocadisco, but also Daft Punk, Eric Prydz and that of Axwell. By now he’s gotten so far that he holds his very own spot between his heroes. Just like them, all he wants is to create music for people to listen to and come to love, whether it be at home or in a dark nightclub. Avicii puts great emphasis on melodies in his productions and wants to appeal to fans of many different house music genres.
stardom and international success seems to imply the aforementioned transgressions. For instance, his career has been carefully directed by his mentor and manager, Ash, who has guided him like a father. Likewise his “bromances” with world-renowned DJs like Tiësto and Swedish House Mafia, definitely are evidence of his talent. His music, a mixture of upbeat, anthem-driven trance and fist-pumping, melodic Swedish house, uniting electronic music influences of all kinds, is renowned and praised around the globe. Interestingly enough, the word “Avici” is also commonly explained as the “non-stop way”. Going on and on, those who experience a lifetime of purification only to be reborn and do it again. This too seems applicable to Berg, who deals with the tireless process of touring, going from town to town, the boredom of waiting at a venue before and after performing, and the schedule that prevents him from spending time with friends and family without ever wanting to stop. Not only this, but Berg has reincarnated himself under many aliases through the course of his short career (Tim Berg, Avicii, Tom Hangs), an endless stream of identities that obscure who he really is.
Veni, vidi, Avicii: Meet the guy who built Rome in a day
Avicii is without a doubt one of the most hyped electronic acts of the current music generation. He comes packaged in a slender frame, with boyish good looks, and scraggly blond hair, though an ethereal aura radiates from him like incense smoke billowing from a wooden burner. Was this the key to his monumental success? Did Berg reach Nirvana only to bring its bliss to us mortals through his beautifully positive and euphoric music?
Translated from Sanskrit/Pali to English, Avicii means “without waves.” And above all else, this seems to be the state Tim Berg currently subsists in. When asked what music he listens to on his downtime, he replies that he doesn’t, preferring silence after being bombarded with music all day, every day. Amidst all the attention, the flurry of media and industry buzz, the endless praise from his colleagues and fans, Berg attempts to maintain his humble and optimistic attitude, acting as the calm ocean emitting waves to the distant shore. But make no mistake: he may be rather calm himself but he’ll easily make you all go wild like no other!
Whether it’s coincidence or just reincarnation, Berg’s recent rise to EDM

PARTY, ‘CAUSE THERE’S NO TOMORROW! Don’t let this last day be an end to your amazing weekend but see it as the beginning of a memory to hold on to forever. By now we know that we can count on all of you to get this third day to be the icing on cake. By the time you’ve woken up and brushed your teeth on Sunday you’re all sure to have taken a very special place in the hearts of all those people that have worked hard for a whole year and ten times as hard these last few days, only to give you a weekend beyond your wildest dreams. They ask nothing in return but you all having the time of your lives. But here’s an idea: let’s give all those hard working people a little extra this year! We know they do a lot for us, the question is: what can we do for them? Go crazy. Yes, we’re aware of the fact that that’s exactly what you’ve all been doing for the last couple of days, yes. As a massive ‘thank you’ to the people
that made this madness happen, we should all go crazy like we’ve never gone crazy before. Dance, love, shout, sing, kiss, move, clap, stomp, hug, embrace, smile, enjoy, laugh, jump, swirl, twirl, giggle, listen,… and look your girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband, friends, mates, girls, bitchatchos, gang, homies, bros, sistas, brothas and even that weird dude you’ve met at the campsite in the eyes and tell them how happy you are to have them here, next to you, to share this amazing experience. Tomorrowland loves you, thanks for loving us back. Peace, Love, Rave.
