VILLA CENTOFIORI

GILI GEDE ISLAND

A Tropical island is undoubtedly very interesting and fascinating for what it offers. From the jungle to the sea with crystal clear waters and its seabed and fauna so abundant and varied. The fruits of the earth are also plentiful and precious. Often we judge the islanders of equatorial islands be lazy. I believe that the issue is deeper then that and probably the "guilty" of this way of life is the great generosity of Mother Nature. In these places you do not feel the cold, hunger and in general the need to think about the future. No need to worry about stowing supplies for the cold months of winter to survive as in many other places of our world. They go barefoot and with minimal clothing. Food is easily available and barter is still a practice not so archaic as in "evolved" society. A banana, a mango and many other fruits, "exotic" for us, are available to anyone who wants, fishes are plentiful and caught with ease. They... we sleep in the open or just protected from rain and sun. Who wants to accumulate assets is perhaps seen with astonishment, tomorrow all this will still be available and so why worry about it. The sea is a great asset and always changing and enriching. Only humans can perhaps destroy it eventually with their actions.
