And they invite you to come and do the same this summer and autumn.
LNBP Community Boating is a registered not-for-profit charity run by volunteers who each year provide the opportunity for community groups, clubs and associations to enjoy inexpensive canal boating trips and short break holidays on the Grand Union and Oxford Canals in Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and the Midlands.
LNBP welcome a wide variety of community groups of all ages and varying interests which include:
• uniformed organisations and associations such as Scouts, Guides, Cadets
• senior and veteran clubs and associations
• church groups
• social and retirement groups such as The Women’s Institute (WI), U3A
• mental health and wellbeing groups
• organisations working with those with special needs
LNBP Community Boating have two boats - called Lancelot and Guinevere - moored at the historic junction of the Oxford and Grand Union canals at Braunston in Northamptonshire. Each is fitted with a modern well-equipped galley complete with refrigerator and microwave, two toilets, central heating plus sleeping accommodation for residential breaks. Both boats are operated by experienced and fully-qualified skippers who take responsibility for the running of the boat during all trips, as well as providing guests with an insight into the boats, the history of the canals and local area.
There is opportunity for boat guests to try their hand at many activities including steering the boats through open countryside, photography, countryside walks, team building and route planning. Or simply sit back, relax and take in the views and the peace and quiet, and enjoy watching the world go by at a slower pace.
Day and evening trips for local groups LNBP will once again be running a series of full or half day trips on selected midweek days during June, July and September (subject to availability) this summer specifically for local and regionally based community groups and organisations.
So why not think about bringing your group aboard Lancelot and Guinevere for a day trip or even a short break to experience the unique beauty and heritage of our local canals.
