We welcome the highly anticipated Mrs Jones the Baker to The Village. Lucy and Barry Jones started their culinary journey at The Savoy in London, and have been crafting their baked delicacies around the world ever since.

They bring serious international cred to the north shore; their St Ives store will add to their list of bakeries in Freshwater, Warringah Mall and Frenchs Forest.

When you walk into Mrs Jones, you will experience a sensory delight with a smorgasbord of choice, from beautifully crafted breads, captivating cakes and pastries to mouth-watering gelato.

‘We hand-craft all our artisan breads and sweet and savoury fare using traditional and modern methods based on learned techniques and hard work – with no corners cut and each item created from scratch. We bring top-notch, made-this-morning fresh, mouthwatering delicacies to our communities,’ says Lucy Jones (AKA Mrs Jones).

SUMMERY SIPS

Summer-inspired cocktails are the perfect accompaniment to canapéstyle entertaining. Do the prep ahead of time and when your guests arrive, all you need to do is pour, serve and relax. Cheers to that!

Pomegranate, Mint & Gin Cocktail

INGREDIENTS : Gin, tonic, fresh mint leaves, a whole pomegranate, strips of zest from a small orange, ice METHOD: Remove the pomegranate seeds by cutting it in half, then holding it over a large bowl and firmly smacking with a wooden spoon. Lightly crush some of the seeds to release their juice. Add seeds and juice to a large jug with mint leaves and strips of orange zest. Add gin, ice cubes, then top with tonic. Enjoy!

5 x 450g pineapple slices in juice

2 x 700g apricots halved in juice 1 x 680g Morello cherries, pitted

Ham Glaze

Leftover juices from pineapple, apricots and Morello pitted cherries 500g white sugar 500ml dry sherry

METHOD

For the ham glaze: Place all the ingredients into a large pot and simmer for 1.5 hours. The syrup will be thick enough to cover the back of the spoon. Keep in the fridge until ready to use.
