Jojoba Hills SKP Resort holds annual Colossal Yard Sale Diane Sieker ANZAEDITOR@REEDERMEDIA.COM

The much-acclaimed and anticipated Jojoba Hills SKP Resort’s Colossal Yard Sale was held Oct. 13-15 in Aguanga. This event may have been the largest and most successful bargain event in its 21-year history. The RV community’s sale is an annual affair which was first devised and organized way back in 1996 by resort resident Gary Hagelbarger. It has grown and become more renowned every year. “All donations come from the park members,” Hagelbarger said. And this year, the donations added up to a massive collection of clothes, jewelry, tools, electronics, sports equipment, collectibles, books, craft supplies, furniture, kitchen wares, linens, bicycles, accessories and more. The “colossal” event is held on

Edwards, Adan Lopez, Christian Medina and Kalyn Silva. “B: honor roll awards were earned by Aiden Heredia, Ben Clegg and Brandi Marcus. Next Julie Nevills honored several teachers for their efforts. Cindy Watson, Linda Clegg and Mrs. O’Hanlon were recognized for their hard work and dedication. Renette Davies, AVCS chairman of the board, took the podium and gave a quick update on grants and the playground. The equipment and development of the grounds requires about $60,000 to complete, and she encouraged all parents and school personnel to assist in locating grants and approaching benefactors to help get the facilities completed. She also reported the results of the fundraiser “Ride on the Rez,” which she revealed had raised just over $3,000 for the school. In regards to the “Ride on the Rez,” Davies said that four local churches helped with the event and that she and the school were

appreciative of their heartfelt cooperation. “It has been another successful year. God has blessed this school,” Davies said in closing. Upcoming events such as a joga-thon, San Diego Zoo field trip, School Grounds Work Day, certain school days off and Thanksgiving dinner were discussed. Drop-off and pickup procedures were reviewed. Four students who enter the Veterans of Foreign Wars essay contest read their essays, and the audience applauded their efforts. Senior Austin Staudenraus, eight graders Alex Lopez and Brandi Marcus and sixth-grade student Brent Edwards read their creations with confidence. School contact information was outlined, a closing prayer given by Pastor Nevills and the room full of people was let loose upon a bake sale, hosted by the Upper Learning Center classroom to earn money for their student convention next spring.

“Anza Valley Christian School, a ministry of Anza Baptist Church, exists to foster academic, spiritual, social and physical growth of students and to help them and their families learn to love Jesus Christ with their whole being and value

Ashley Paulson said, “We went and thought it was awesome. So much stuff!” On Sunday, everything was reduced to half price, then at noon it was all reduced further to a dollar a bag. Buyers were supplied with 30-gallon trash bags to stuff as many goodies into as possible. At the very end, the remaining

items were loaded up by a local organization to be dispersed further within the local community. For more information regarding the Jojoba Hills SKP Resort’s yard sale, visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/JojobaHillsSkpResort/ or their website: www.jojobahills.com/.

The Anza Valley Christian School held its first quarter parent meeting Thursday evening, Oct. 19. The assembly was packed with proud parents, honored teachers and eager students as it opened with recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance, pledge to the Christian flag and pledge to the Bible. An invocation by the Rev. Matthew Nevills and the recitation of the school verse got the meeting underway. AVCS Administrator Julie Nevills immediately focused on the “A” and “B” honor roll recipients. She described the requirements that must be met by the kids and announced the name of each student as they came up and received their certificate. “A” honor roll awards were presented to Victoria Chacon, Sadie Dinnyes, Josette Heredia, Rachel Clegg, James Davies, Brent

All proceeds from the sale benefit the resort members. It helps pay for things like live bands, catering and other extras for social gatherings. It also serves as a way for the residents of the park to recycle their cast-offs, unneeded items and enable them to clear out their closets. former presidents of the United States who were and are members of Lions Clubs: President Gerald Ford and President Jimmy Carter. Lions Clubs International also holds a seat at the United Nations, and Lions founder Melvin Jones was part of the group of people that were instrumental in the formation of the United Nations. Charleston went over the plans for the 2018 Centennial celebrations, including a huge float in the Rose Parade, and encouraged the Anza Lions to become involved in the process. He also showed off some new Lions apparel, such as Tshirts, hoodies and bags imprinted with colorful artwork. “The Lions motto is ‘We Serve,’ and you have in Anza a dedicated group of individuals that are examples of what Lions Clubs believe in through their many projects to help make your community a better place to live. If you ever need any help with the needs of your community, I urge you to contact the Anza Lions Club,” he said. costs, unlike other organizations that take a percentage of the money donated for salaries and other operating costs, he stressed. The Lions Clubs were initially formed in 1917 to help people in need. In 1925 Helen Keller challenged the Lions Clubs International to become “Knights for the Blind,” which the Lions Clubs accepted. The clubs are now known worldwide for providing services for blind individuals by providing free glasses, vision screenings for adults and through the KidSight USA program, which screens children from six months through 6 years of age. However, there are many other things that Lions Clubs are or have been involved in through the years, include eradicating river blindness in Central America, measles throughout the world, at-risk youth programs, disaster relief anywhere in the world as needed, diabetes, pediatric cancer, environmental programs, student speaker programs, international peace poster, just to name a few. The Lions Clubs International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, meaning any money collected from the public goes back to the public. No administrative or fundraising fees are taken out of any donations. Lions Clubs International has been nominated for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize twice, and there have been at least two

LIONS from page A-1 Plans were made outlining the last gymkhana of the year; prizes and buckles will be awarded to the high point earners of the 2017 season. The event will feature a vet clinic, grooming clinic, first aid for horses, a farrier clinic and raffles, as well as the buckle awards. Brown added that the Lions will be assisting the Anza Civic Improvement League with their coat drive and Russell Kitchen of KOA with his toy collection events. A lasagna dinner was served with salad, bread and desserts. The district governor and his cabinet were introduced. They represented Lions clubs from Temecula, Apple Valley, Yucaipa, Spring Valley and Jurupa. In total, there are 47 Lions clubs that make up Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Jones spoke of his project, “Canine Companions for Independence,” an organization that strives to give one specially trained service dog to a deserving person every day of the year. Recipients of these dogs are people with post-traumatic stress disorder, people with hearing disabilities, diabetics and children and adults with autism. Jones also educated the group about a pilot program, “Lions Diabetes Camp,” which is a getaway camp for teens 13 through 16 years old with Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. They and their families get diabetes education and take part in fun camping activities. The Lions Camps at Wrightwood and Teresita Pines offer a campfire area, archery range, volleyball, basketball, hiking, swimming, a climbing wall and a gaga ball pit. Hannon talked about his inspiring time at the Lions Club International USA Canada Leadership Forum in Portland, Oregon. Over 2,500 Lions attended and participated in leadership training and motivational lectures by special guests. He described the emotional reaction that he and the audience had while listening to author and speaker Jen Bricker, although severely disabled and orphaned, still went on to be a successful, ambitious and well-adjusted person. She travels worldwide giving motivational speeches. Hannon said that 40 years ago, there were no women Lions, but today, women make up about 44 percent of the membership of the club. He joked that this change is great because women get things done, while men can become easily distracted. Charleston concluded the presentations talking about new members, membership drives and the Lions Club International’s accomplishments, history and the plans for the Lions Centennial celebration next year. The Lions Club International is one of the best-rated charities in the world with zero administrative

Hundreds of excited Anza Valley children and their parents gathered to celebrate the annual Hamilton K-8 School’s Fall Festival on the school grounds offering food, games, vendors and entertainment for the entire family Saturday, Oct. 21. The festival’s new location between the classrooms protected the visitors from the wind making the event even more fun. There were gift baskets, created by parents and local businesses raffled off along with brightly painted pumpkins made by the students and teachers of each class. The fall school event is sponsored annually by the Hamilton K-8 Parent Techer’s Association and local businesses including the Anza Electric Cooperative. The Hamilton K-8 band, led by music teacher Lovina Botts, played well entertaining the festival goers. Kim Thompson’s “Anza Kids” dance class put on an unforgettable appearance bringing claps and applause. The children, who received tickets as they arrived to enjoy a multitude of fun games and other treats from community groups and students. The games included the water balloon toss, dart board toss, corn smash, washer toss, disc grab, bean bag toss, hoop shoot and even a cow roping event. When not participating in the games the children enjoyed having

their faces painted, jumping into the bounce houses, eating cotton candy, munching popcorn and browsing through some Halloween costumes being sold to benefit the Hamilton High School students. The parents enjoyed some barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs cooked to benefit the Hamilton K-8 Associated Student Body activities while others tasted tacos and spicy salsa. Hamilton K-8 Principal Carol Robilotta said the event was moved from the playing field this year to make it easier to set up for those attending and saving the teachers valuable classroom time. “It is really great,” she said. The setup is very “labor intensive and this helps bring everything together,” Robilotta said. She was very pleased with the change that helped protect the visitors from the Santa Ana winds and provided shade. She noted that the annual Fall Festival has benefited the school Saturday School attendance since the students were given the day off and free tickets for them and the adults to enjoy the fun and games for the event. “It has really helped,” she said. The principal and teachers enjoyed the festival as much as the students having an opportunity to make informal visits with the parents and making the rounds to the vendors with their special merchandize for sale.

In America, ‘We don’t worship government – We worship God’ Harold Pease, Ph.D. SPECIAL TO ANZA VALLEY OUTLOOK

If the president does what he said he will do, as so far Trump has, Christians and Christian values can look forward to a new era of respect and value. President Donald Trump gave two powerful, policy-changing addresses Friday, Sept. 13, one to the Values Voters Conference which is filled with mostly Christian leaders and the second refusing to recertify the Iran Nuclear Treaty, which basically sends it back to the Senate for much needed improvement. The establishment news media, who are notably hostile in their coverage of Christian values, have essentially buried the first address by extensive coverage of the second. Liberty Under Fire treats this topic as a constitutional issue because the Founding Fathers valued religion in government and protected religion by creating the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights and because the Constitution requires a moral people in order to be fully understood. And, as mentioned, the establishment news media won’t cover it because of its long-standing, anti-religious bias. The Founding Father who best articulated the value of religion in government was President George Washington. In his farewell ad-

dress, as he left office after refusing a third term he advised, he said, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports… Let it simply be asked, where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice? ... Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.” The list of demanded freedoms which were conditional upon the states ratifying the Constitution was written in order of importance in the Bill of Rights. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,” according to the First Amendment. Freedom of religion was listed first. President John Adams best articulated the need for a moral people in order to fully understand the Constitution. “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people,” he said. “It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Benjamin Franklin expressed a similar view. “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom,” he said. “As na-

tions become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” The following phrases in Trump’s address to the Values Voters Conference are some of the most powerful to come from the lips of a president in our history and are in harmony with the Founding Fathers. “America is a nation of believers, and together, we are strengthened and sustained by the power of prayer,” Trump said. “We know that the American family is the true bedrock of American life. “I pledged that, in a Trump administration, our nation’s religious heritage would be cherished, protected and defended like you have never seen before,” Trump said. “Bureaucrats think they can run your lives, overrule your values, meddle in your faith and tell you how to live, what to say and how to pray. But we know that parents, not bureaucrats, know best how to raise their children and create a thriving society. We know that it’s the family and the church, not government officials that know best how to create strong and loving communities… In America, we don’t worship government – We worship God. “We see it in the church communities that come together to care for one another, to pray for each other and to stand strong with each other

in times of need,” he said. “We will pass on the blessings of liberty and the glories of God to our children.” So what campaign promises on freedom of religion has he kept? “To protect the unborn, I have reinstated a policy first put in place by President Ronald Reagan, the Mexico City Policy,” Trump said. This policy prohibits the federal funding of organizations performing or promoting abortion as a method of family planning. Democratic presidents always reinstate it, and Republican presidents always rescind it. He issued an executive order “to prevent the horrendous Johnson amendment from interfering with your First Amendment rights.” This amendment prohibited taxexempt organizations, churches and ministers included, from having a political voice in society. “We will not allow government workers to censor sermons or target our pastors or our ministers or rabbis,” Trump said. “These are the people we want to hear from, and they’re not going to be silenced any longer.” The order resulted in the Department of Justice issuing “new guidance to all federal agencies to ensure that no religious group is ever targeted under my administration,” he said. “We have also taken action to protect the conscience rights of groups like the Little Sisters of the Poor,” Trump said. “We will not let bureaucrats take away that calling or take away their rights.” So is Trump just following a script to insure that he captures the votes of the religious community in 2020? He already has them, because he has done more for this community than any president in distant memory. Moreover, as he pointed out in his address, he is “the first sitting president to address” the Values Voter Summit and not while not running for re-election. The words are perfect, and they should inspire confidence that in the difficult decisions that he may make, he will go first to his knees and be led by God. But will he? I would feel more comfortable if we saw him attend a church occasionally. Still, it is refreshing to have someone defend the religious community as too few before him have. DARREL EDWARD GOLEM CASE #: MCP 1700642 To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors, and persons who may otherwise be interested in the will or estate, or both of A Petition for Probate has been filed by GREGORY A. GOLEM in the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside. The Petition for Probate requests that GREGORY A. GOLEM be appointed as personal representative to administer the estate of the decedent. The petition requests authority to administer the estate under the Independent Administration of Estates Act. (This authority will allow the personal representative to take many actions without obtaining court approval. Before taking certain very important actions, however, the personal representative will be required to give notice to interested persons unless they have waived notice or consented to the proposed action.) The independent administration authority will be granted unless an interested person files an objection to the petition and shows good cause why the court should not grant the authority. A hearing on the petition will be held in this court as follows: Date: 11/20/17 Time: 8:45 A.M. Dept. T1 Address of court: 41002 County Center Dr., Ste. 100, Temecula, CA 92591 If you object to the granting of the petition, you should appear at the hearing and state your objections or file written objections with the court before the hearing. Your appearance may be in person or by your attorney. If you are a creditor or a contingent creditor of the decedent, you must file your claim with the court and mail a copy to the personal representative appointed by the court within the later of either (1) four months from the date of first issuance of letters to a general personal representative, as defined in section 58(b) of the California Probate Code, or (2) 60 days from the date of mailing or personal delivery to you of a notice under section 9052 of the California Probate Code. Other California statutes and legal authority may affect your rights as a creditor. You may want to consult with an attorney knowledgeable in California law. You may examine the file kept by the court. If you are a person interested in the estate, you may file with the court a Request for Special Notice (Form DE-154) of the filing of an inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any petition or account as provided in Probate Code section 1250. A Request for Special Notice form is available from the court clerk. Petitioner: Gregory A. Golem LEGAL #: 2727 PUBLISHED: October 20, 27, November 3, 2017
