Village of Bensenville 12 S. Center Street Bensenville, IL 60106 www.Bensenville.il.us 630-766-8200
This change will automatically take effect in March and requires no action on the part of Bensenville utility customers to receive the savings. However it has come to our attention that various other sales people purporting to represent various other Retail Energy Suppliers are still canvassing our neighborhoods trying to sign residents into energy contracts. These companies are not affiliated with the Village of Bensenville program or FirstEnergy Solutions. Residents should be cautious in dealing with these companies and call the Village 630350-3400 or FirstEnergy Solutions 866-636-3749 with any questions.

On December 11, 2012 the Village of Bensenville contracted with FirstEnergy Solutions to provide electric supply for eligible Bensenville residents and small businesses for the next three years at the low rate of 5.205 cents/kWh. We estimate the average resident will see a reduction of $26/month on their energy bill ($311/year).

Community Policing helps cut crime A remarkable 20 percent reduction in index crimes over the last four years (per the National Uniform Crime Reporting) prompted the Village of Bensenville to honor the members of its successful Community Oriented Policing Watch programs with commendations for their service to the citizens of Bensenville. Since the inception of the Village’s Community Oriented Policing Division in October 2009, including all the volunteer watch programs, the community has come together to reduce crime and make our neighborhoods safer.
Village Clerk
Susan Janowiak
Village Manager Michael Cassady
Community Oriented Policing is a single division whose sole purpose is to concentrate on crime prevention.
Senior Citizen Monthly Lunches Bensenville residents aged 55 and over are invited to enjoy a meal and play some bingo at Monty’s Banquet Hall located at 703 S. York Road. The luncheon takes place the first Tuesday of every month. The cost is $4.00 for a great meal, raffle prizes, and bingo. If you would like to join the club, simply show up at Monty’s the day of the event with your ID. Doors open at 10 a.m. and lunch begins around 11:15 a.m. Call 6302
The significant and quantifiable results have made Bensenville a model for community policing. Other US cities, as well as international cities, are adopting the Bensenville model. Australia recently adopted Bensenville’s Airport Watch Program and is applying their program nationwide. Bensenville’s program consists of six different community volunteer groups who receive training in crime detection and reporting. The different groups are the Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, O’Hare Airport Watch, Organizations Watch, Student Watch, and Crime Free Multi-Housing Watch. The Division identifies the various segments of the community where crimes could be committed, establishes watch groups and tailors programs for each of those segments. Call 630-350-3455 to become a member.
Building Permit Reminder Spring is just around the corner, and with good weather comes the opportunity for many home improvement projects. Building permits are required for many home improvements. Please visit Village Hall or call 630-350-3413 with any questions.

Vietnam Memorial Wall comes to Redmond Park The Wall That Heals, the traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, will be on display in Bensenville this summer at Redmond Park. The Wall will be open to the public around the clock from Thursday, June 20 through Sunday, June 23. This is a great honor for our Village to host this meaningful tribute to our Vietnam Veterans. There will be many events planned around the arrival of the Wall. Arriving in Chicago, the Wall will be escorted to the site at Redmond on Wednesday, June 19 by various car clubs and riders’ organizations who are proud to show their respect to this Memorial. The Village will also be rededicating the baseball field as “Memorial Field” and the softball field as “Liberty Field” as well as installing a new permanent Veterans Memorial. We are looking for more than 72 volunteers to assist visitors to the Wall and to keep vigil around the clock at this hallowed monument. Anyone interested in volunteers should call 630-594-1190.

Spring Brush Pick-up A New Look, A New Outlook The Village of Bensenville is showing its vibrancy with its updated logo and taglines. Over the next few months, throughout town new signs are going up that incorporate “Gateway to Opportunity,” a new tagline for our Village that was a result of discussions with residents and businesses during the development of the Comprehensive Economic Development Plan. This updated look appropriately reflects our vitality as a Village. With new schools, playgrounds, updated parks and vastly improved streets, sewers and landscaping, Bensenville really is a “Gateway to Opportunity” for families and businesses. Our Business Districts are “Where Opportunity Takes Off” and use of this new tagline will encourage business growth and investment.
