A committee consisting of school staff, community members, retirees and students selected the following Fenton alumni: TERRY BIEFELD | Class of 1958 U Aerospace Engineer U B.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Masters in Aerospace Engineering from University of South California U Worked for Douglas Aircraft Company (AKA McDonnell Douglas, Boeing and Unite Launch Alliance) for 47 years U Focused much of his career on the Delta Launch Vehicle which first flew in 1960 and is still launching satellites today. U Accomplishments include launch of all GPS satellites, communicates satellites and weather satellites. | Trains and mentors young engineers to carry forward. | Married to a Fenton graduate, raised a family of eight children

A dinner to celebrate the honorees will be held on Thursday, March 26 at 6 pm at White Pines Golf Club and Banquets located at 500 W. Jefferson Street, Bensenville. The evening will include music by the Fenton Jazz Ensemble, a plated dinner and presentations from Terry Biefeld, Matt Lloyd and Charles Schlie. The Fenton Alumni Wall of Fame was established in 1995 by the District 100 Board of Education and honors the achievements and contributions of the school’s most outstanding alumni.

BENSENVILLE APPROVES NEW COMPREHENSIVE PLAN After months of dialogue with Stakeholders, the VVillage illage off Bensenville Board of TTrustees rustees approved a new comprehensive plan to guide growth and development within the community community.. The previous comprehensive plan was approved in 1980 e. TTypically ypically a comprehen and was dated in terms of the planning area and changing regional transportation infrastructure. comprehensive plan is written to provide guidance for a community to work towards its vision over the next 10 to 20 years. The VVillage illage capitalized on an opportunity offered by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), when it was echnical Assistance grant. CMAP and Village Village staff worked together on a collaborative planning process awarded a Local TTechnical to refine the future land use vision in Bensenville. The Bensenville Comprehensive Plan process benefited significantly from recent planning ng grants, including the 2011 RT TA A Transit Transit Improvement Plan and Station Area/Corridor Study and the RTA 2013 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy funded by the FFAA AA to ensure the Village Village leverages benefit from the expanding O’Hare International Airport. The Comprehensive Plan will help strategically implement the recommendations of these independent planning studies. TTopic opic areas addressed in the comprehensive plan include land use, transportation, infrastructure, parks and open space, housing, retail/commercial development, and community image and identity identity.. The planning process included three phases, with public input being a key component of each phase. The first phase involved a thorough analysis of the existing conditions within the community using information gathered through one-onone stakeholder interviews, steering committee meetings, focus group workshops, public meetings, review of previous studies, and available data. Phase two focused on creating a vision for the future of Bensenville by identifying goals and objectives based on findings from the Phase 1 analysis and a public visioning workshop. The final phase combined efforts from previous phases to create the comprehensive plan document containing policies, programs, and action steps to be undertaken in order to achieve the community’ illage of Bensenville. community’ss future vision for the VVillage The plan can viewed on the VVillage illage website at www.bensenville.il.us. www.bensenville.il.us.

SPRING BRUSH PICK-UP From April through November Allied W Waste aste will remove individual branches that are less than three feet in length and one inch in diameter on your regular trash collection day from your regular collection point in biodegradable paper bags or garbage cans with two “Y “Yard ard W Waste aste Only” labels attached. Allied Waste Waste collects these branches with other residential yard waste. Unbundled brush and branches will be collected from single-family residences four times this year by VVillage illage Staff.

Brush Pick-Up Expansion The Village Village is excited to announce it is expanding the number of brush pick dates in 2015. Brush Pick-Up k-Up will wi begin on the first full week of each month from May through November. November. Residents are invited to put these items out for removal on the Sunday prior to the week of pick-up, but no later than 7:00 am on the first Monday of each month. DISTRICT 2 HAS FINISHED PLANS FOR BLACKHAWK MIDDLE SCHOOL BLACKHA AWK M If contracts are awarded, the work will be performed this summer summer.. The proposed work renovates the audiaudi torium, creates a new and larger learning center center,, and converts the existing learning center into classrooms for Science/T Science/Technology/Engineering/Math echnology/Engineering/Math (STEM), for Art, and for general instruction. The project budget is about $3,000,000. The proposed auditorium project replaces the original 1960s seating, adds new carpeting and refreshes other surfaces. On the stage, new lighting and sound equipment will be installed, with new controls located in the main seating area. The proposed new learning center will be much larger than the current library library.. wo large work areas will TTwo wil offer space in which students can make presentations, create projects, and learn research strategies. The learning center will also have four meeting rooms for student projects, one of them suitable for student video recording. The proposed new classrooms for STEM and Art will each bee ready for students to work with both wet and dry materials and to buildd engineering projects. TTwo wo other classrooms spaces next to the current library will be renovated with new boards and display materials and new flooring and ceiling.
