Fall 2013 Introductions and birthdays

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. - Henry Ford

Note From Village Manager Mike Cassady Dear Team Members, I hope you and your families have had a great summer! We are well into the third quarter of 2013 and we have had an extremely successful LibertyFest and Music in the Park series. We also recognized our Vietnam Veterans by hosting the Wall that Heals this past June. This emotional tribute brought thousands of people to our community to respect those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. These events were special because of your efforts and commitment to exceptional customer service. I thank you all for a great job! There are many significant infrastructure projects underway. We will complete the Northern Business District road reconstruction and flood control initiatives this year. What an amazing transformation from when we started. Vacancies have stabilized and we are starting to see some private sector reinvestment. Over the next two years we

will be focused on the adaptive re-use of a blighted manufacturing building at 345 E. Green, the future site of our Police HQ and Emergency Management Agency. We had hoped to welcome the Canadian Pacific Police as tenants, but they have recently decided to remain on CP owned property. This project will be dedicated in Spring 2015 Another key project is rebuilding our circa 1940’s waste water treatment plant. We will receive funding from the IEPA to finance this project at an interest rate below 2.0 percent. The liquidity in this IEPA funding source and ideal financing rates make it a great time to invest in this critical facility. Stay tuned for more information on these new initiatives. We are beginning to get our heads wrapped around the 2014 Operating Budget and Community Investment Program. I am hopeful each of you had the opportunity to present ideas and suggestions to improve the way we approach our work. The best

innovations come from our front line team members who know the job the best. I hope you are as enthusiastic and positive as I am about our team and the future of the Bensenville Community. We are all very blessed to play a key role in the progress. Seize the opportunity to prove to our customers that We Are Here to Help! Please enjoy the rest of the summer and remember my door is always open to you. Sincerely, Mike
