Welcome to the Village of Schaumburg’s 28th annual Prairie Arts Festival. This is a fine arts festival so its artists are juried for entrance. You may notice ribbons being displayed by a number of artists indicating that they have been judged and selected for prizes. We try our best to attract artists from all over to come to our lovely municipal center grounds so that you can find the perfect birthday gift, wedding or anniversary present, housewarming gift or just something for someone you love. You may even want to bring home something for yourself. Stroll the grounds. Enjoy the swans (Louis and Serena) and (possibly) their cute as a button cygnets. Listen to the music, grab some eats, and enjoy the day. And don’t forget to tell your friends about what you saw. And what you bought. Sincerely, VILLAGE OF SCHAUMBURG Al Larson Village President

“My primary style of creating wearable art jewelry is small scale sheet fabrication. I use sterling silver, 14 karat gold, precious gemstones and found objects. “I am inspired by nature and modern architecture, as both forces are constantly evolving and growing with a momentum of their own.” “I teach Metalsmithing/Jewelry at Harper College every fall semester.”
Dwight Lohman Photography Booth #23 & 24
Jim has explored photography from the still life to nature. The black & white image has been his specialty. Techniques include fine grain, long exposures, toning, solarization, multiple image prints and the use of grain to give images texture. The computer has become his darkroom for color images.

Photography • Booth # 66 “My current work consists primarily of digital– fine art–landscape photography offered as traditional framed prints, canvas/wrapped or framed pieces, or metal prints. Many of my images are taken in the Midwest, but include scenes in East and West Coast locations, as well as national parks.” “A theme that runs through much of my work is ‘Just Add Water,’ as many of my photos capture images taken at seaside locations, waterfalls and other bodies of water.” “I search for “the image within,” focusing on a part of a larger landscape captured in optimal lighting. I hope that my images evoke a sensory or emotional response.”

Dwight is a self-taught photographer, having had a camera in his hands since he was 9. He finds most of his subjects by purposely getting lost on the back roads of rural America. He draws his inspiration from the stories of his Grandma’s life on the family farm.
