Dear Friends, The 2019 school year is already well underway as we take a moment to review the August market statistics for South Santa Barbara County and the Santa Ynez Valley, and look ahead to the fourth quarter of 2019. August saw an increase in the number of listings in our county, however we still have a shortage of homes for sale, especially in the lower price points. The number of sales is still ahead of last year, although the gap is lessening. The median price is above last year by about 3.2%. This gradual increase has continued for the last five years and is projected to continue. The Santa Barbara market is a safe place to invest your money and an opportunity for buyers to act with confidence. Giving back to our local communities in Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley is very important to us at Village Properties. In 2002 we founded Teacher’s Fund, a non-profit that provides funding for our local teachers to purchase much needed basic supplies for their classrooms. Since then, the Teacher’s Fund has donated over $1.6 million to our local schools. 100% of the all funds raised go directly to local teachers for their classrooms.


On October 4th we will be hosting our annual fundraiser at our State Street office courtyard, a Back to School Supplies Drive Celebration to honor our local teachers! Taking it back to elementary school days we’ll be having a pizza party with Woodstock’s Pizza and an Ice Cream Social with Rori’s Artisanal Creamery. We’ll also have some fun lawn games, face painting, live music, a photo-booth, and, of course, adult beverages. Fun Fact: There’s a company that specializes in building secret rooms and hidden passageways (one requires a chess board played in a certain combination to unlock).
