Dear Friends, I am pleased to bring you the Real Estate Market Report for October, keeping you in the know and up to date on the latest activity and trends in the communities we serve in South Santa Barbara County and Santa Ynez Val-ley. After a slower start to the year, we are now seeing a brisk fourth quarter in home sales. Even though mortgage rates have increased a little, they are still low. Economic forecasters are predicting there will be a 1% rate increase over the next year, so if you are thinking about buying a home, now is the time to do so. An interesting fact for 2018 is that 65% of homebuyers in Santa Barbara are lo-cal, and of the remaining 35% only 14% originated from outside of California. We were honored to run away with a trifecta win in the Independent Best of Santa Barbara 2018 Readers’ Poll. Village Properties was voted the best Real Estate Company, Riskin Partners was voted the best Real Estate Team and Marcy Bazzani won the best Real Estate Agent. We had a fabulous Halloween at our Montecito office when the Lower Village turned into “Ghost” Village Road. Over 1,500 people in spectacular costumes came by our office for this lively trick-ortreat extravaganza. Many of our agents dressed in delightful costumes and gave away great quantities of candy to happy children. We love to have fun with our local community. As we celebrate Thanksgiving this month we are acutely aware of how much we have to be thankful for. American writer William Arthur Ward says it well: “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” Wishing you a great November and a very happy Thanksgiving.
