Merry Christmas from Billingshurst Fire Station

We would like to wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Very much like 2020 we have had to adapt to changes throughout the year with the pandemic still impacting everyone. It was good to see restrictions slightly lifted in the spring so that we could get back to some kind of normality. We still have quite a few restrictions within the service to try and avoid the spread of COVID-19. We have not been able to complete our usual community fire safety visits but we hope next year we will be able to welcome back groups and visit our local schools to promote fire protection and prevention.

We will certainly be holding another Charity Car Wash in March and with a bit of luck, and Open Day in the summer.

It’s been a busy year again at Billingshurst Fire Station with crews responding to around 500 calls. Well done to the committed crew of 13 who have been on-call during the past twelve months protecting their community. A big thank you to the local businesses who have let their employees leave when called out. We would also like to thank the families whose partners are Retained Firefighters, as I’m sure when our pagers go off it can be inconvenent. Pagrs interrupt kids’ bedtime routines, family get-togethers or the dreaded washing up duties (lucky for some I’m sure)! Either way, we know when we are called out it puts pressure on our partners to get things done without our help, so thank you for supporting us. Hopefully we all get to spend some quality time with our families over the festive period, but of course we will be on-call to keep everyone safe this Christmas.

We are very much looking forward to 2022 here at the Fire Station, so until then, have a safe, fun and enjoyable Christmas. Twitter: @Station49Fire Facebook: Billingshurst Fire Station Dan Game, Billingshurst Fire Station
