Firefighters: it’s all in a day’s work!
W
e are pleased to announce that in September we will be able to host our first Charity Car Wash in over 18 months. Providing the Government’s guidance stays as it is, we will be able to go ahead. The date is yet to be confirmed. This will hopefully be the start of many events we plan to run in forthcoming months and into next year. We will hopefully be able to welcome schools and groups to the fire station to learn all about fire safety, plus an Open Day in 2022. Thank you to those who have been in touch following last month’s smoke alarm advice. It’s great to hear that people are following our ‘Test It Tuesday’ tip, and to those who have been in touch in need of smoke alarms. It’s been a busy few months on station, averaging over 40 calls per month. We have
attended a variety of incidents, such as field fires, chimney fires, house fires, road traffic collisions, fire alarms and helping with providing extra cover during incidents on standby at other stations. One call the guys would love me to share… a few weeks ago we were called to assist with helping a small child with a toilet seat stuck on his head! Luckily, Mum saw the funny side of it and took lots of photos ready for his 18th! It shows how varied life as a firefighter can be! We have a new recruit in the process; he is hoping to complete his training course in September. Hopefully we can introduce him to Village Tweet readers soon.
