VsB reAL estAte Minors Steven Borzillo VSB ’10, jeremy Lynch VSB ’11, Lauren Lynch VSB ’10, and jessica Ramey VSB ’10 won third-place honors at the first annual Villanova Real Estate Challenge, held April 8 and 9. Hosted by the Daniel m. DiLella Center for Real Estate, the Challenge brought student teams from 10 top undergraduate programs to Villanova’s campus for a chance to showcase their talent to judges and sponsors representing top real estate firms.

During the competition, students played the role of commercial real estate developers, presenting their recommendations on the optimal plan and timeline for a transit-oriented development project in Tysons Corner, Virginia. The teams were given 72 hours to review the case materials and prepare a development proposal. The case centered on financial analysis, project feasibility, and design creativity, and the presentations were judged by senior executives from firms including CB Richard Ellis; BPG Properties, Ltd.; Ackman-Ziff; Standard & Poor’s; Cushman & wakefield; and Keystone Property Group.

The goal of the Challenge was to provide national recognition for Villanova’s real estate program among industry and academic audiences. while there are several established real estate case competitions at the mBA level, the Challenge became the nation’s largest undergraduate real estate development case competition in just its first year. The winning teams—the university of north Carolina (first place), Virginia Commonwealth university (second place), the Villanova School of Business (third place), and the university of Pennsylvania (fourth place)—shared
