Keeping in mind the Grade III status of the Haveli wherein sensitive additions and changes are permitted to be done to the heritage structure, a façade design is proposed using the design components identified in the existing strucutre and its context. The focus point of the façade has been reserved for the main entry with its original steps and arch profile. No other element has been proposed to compete with this focus element. All other fenestration of the façade have been organized in a background grid enhancing the central focus of the entry feature. The fenestrations like doors and window are set within an arched profile using design references as explained above. To break the verticality of the façade due to the addition of the second floor, a balcony projection running the entire length of the building is provided, corresponding to the Haveli opposite. The existing stone brackets above the main entry are repeated in a linear array to support the balcony projection. This creates a sensitive addition to the street experience. The railing of the balcony is broken into equal sized stone jaalis by miniature balustrades which are modeled on the columns pilasters found on either side of the main entry. The top parapet wall follows the same design as found in the existing building. Staircase Mumty is avoided to keep the façade at a more human scale, and to retain focus for the entry only. An interior staircase is designed instead to provide access to the terrace, following the pattern found in the existing Kashmiri haveli as shown below.
