This theme for the 24th annual conference will feature speakers and exhibitors that will enable landowners to explore the array of programs available to help them to address problems and explore possible solutions! * Highlights include *  Program Panel: overview and updates on six existing programs for woodlot owners and farmers from tax incentives to tree planting including Q&A  Emerald Ash Borer: science, regulations, detection, prevention, forest mgmt  Species at Risk in the Woodlot: key species to look for, butternut recovery  Agro-forestry: Establishing and maintaining sugar maple orchards  Wildlife Feature: wild bird care demonstrations and contacts

Some Facts Private woodlot owners:  typically have full-time jobs off the land, are farmers, or are retired  only manage their ‘woodlots’ part-time for extra income and/or for recreational, environmental or other values and benefits  own 90 percent of the forested land in Eastern Ontario  contribute significantly to our forest-based economies, jobs, and communities  provide wood for local mills, value-added products, artisans, the hearth  are vital partners in implementing sustainable practices to ensure we have healthy forests both now and for future generations thru: the conservation of habitat and species at risk; the control of invasive species; the afforestation of abandoned farmland with native species; the protection of local watersheds and groundwater; the proliferation of a green canopy to help fight climate change...
