What is forest certification?
How does forest certification work?
Forest certification is a process that encourages, supports, and audits forest management practices. Forest certification:
Forest certification involves the independent evaluation of a forest to determine if forest management practices comply with the established environmental and socio-economic standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC.) In eastern Ontario, practices must meet the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence standards. Certified forests are subject to annual audits.

The FSC is an international, independent, nonprofit, non-governmental organization formed to oversee the certification of well-managed forests.
