FREE White Pine Management Workshop for Landowners This workshop will be geared for landowners interested in learning how to identify and reduce the impact of White Pine Blister Rust and other pests in their forests. This fungus can be a very destructive disease affecting forest productivity and complicating the way we manage our plantations and natural stands.
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 9:00 ‐ 3:00 pm @ Union Hall (corner of Tatlock and Wolf Grove Roads, Lanark County) Site visit just north on Peter Usher’s property (map on reverse) Topics will include:
Identifying blister rust and intermediate hosts Site selection for white pine regeneration Survey methods PW Research (hybridization) White pine blister rust and white pine weevil management guidelines Pruning and Vegetation Management
The day will consist of both in‐class and a site visit led by Dr. Richard Wilson, Forest Program Pathologist for OMNR, and Dr. Michael Irvine, Vegetation Management Specialist for OMNR.
An agenda and supplementary material may be sent out prior.
