ALUMINIUM IS CONSIDERABLY MORE RESISTANT TO THE OUTSIDE ELEMENTS COMPARED TO OTHER FRAMES MAKING THEM LESS LIKELY TO WARP OR ROT AS A RESULT

CONCRETE CONTRIBUTES TO THE BEAUTY OF THE PUBLIC SPACES AND ALSO HELPS TO LOWER CITY TEMPERATURES, REDUCE COOLING COSTS

STEEL RAILINGS ARE WELL KNOWN TO STAND THE TEST OF TIME AND THE WRATH OF EXTREME WEATHERS

Taking advantage of the grounds slope, the public space is taken to the interior of the site, and ascending by ramps and stairs, creates an environment for learning, that takes place in different levels, with double heights, outdoor theaters, balconies and terraces, that create visual and programmatic relations within themselves, and that serve to support the educational and cultural activities that take place in the park

The project is part of the initiative "Antioquia the most educated", with which the government of the department bets on the education, innovation, entrepreneurship and the culture, as an engine of change and an open door to new opportunities for children, young people and the community in general, all of this exposed in 80 educational parks and facilities of a public character, inclusive and open to all Adequate response to the human activities that take place in the space Efficient construction technique coherent with our environment

The building sits between the sidewalls of two adjoining buildings, articulating the existing building of the Mayor’s office of the municipality The scheme seeks to form a courtyard that gathers the distant landscape with the different spaces that conforms the educational park The intention is to incorporate the natural elements of the landscape to the architectural space, integrating them into a single spatial entity ages

Project 2B : Responding

Site Demarcation

Context

Site Condition Design Response

3m setback from site area Setback area can be use for parking activities and others.

Programme

Make sure car can go into service lane Add some connection between walkway and site chosen to create more contract

Site Condition Design Response

Site chosen on the lower contour area so put building upper and retaining wall to avoid flood

Building can connect with the bridge, more entrance and bring more convenient for circulation

Climate

Plant more trees to - reduce temperature - reduce noise - provide shades

Private and public zone both can take advantage of the views of the river

Vegetation around the Perimeter setback to avoid the view of carpark

Adding acoustic cladding on the wall reduction of noise and vibration coming from the railway tracks right next to the building

Raise building 1m from ground to prevent flooding and to have a better view

-Cross ventilation -Shading device that comes with the building to provide shades

Building openings face North and South side

Sensory

Site Conditions

Design Response

Blocked view from car parking, open views from the river ,filtered views from central market

Development

Most facades of the building must face towards the river and central market

Building is located at the back of the site, far from the smell source

Buffer zone to minimize the noise from public road next to the site

Because of the increased traffic at Central Market we recommend that additional briage be built for people to visit our site, as this will be more convenient for them

Circulation

For more easy and quick access to the site, we recommend clearing a way or creating a shortcut in the central market

We propose that some signage directing visitors to the location be placed in the central market to make it easier for them to find it

There are benches available to be a lull area right below the rail route for the pedestrian before the rail road entering the subway

There are only few solid boundary around the river area, allowing flexibility of the pedestrian movement

Human and culture

There are more parking as you advance Thus, i proposed a drop off area to increase the professionalism of the site

It's best to replace the stairs with ramp considering the limited space and the cyclist. We also increasing the existent by extending it to the market

Taking advantage of the surroundings - trying to include the 'river if life' as part if the design - maybe create a scene / view for the LRT passengers while passing our site

Add security cameras to overcome the safety issue, especially around the river (under the bridge)

Adding a few mid sized rubbish bins might help with people not throwing their trash around

Having more cultural elements in and around the site to attract more visitors - cultural nights - murals representing the diversity of our malaysian culture

Cluster

Miss Pui Yee is an extreme workaholic. She spends most of her time working and ways to increase her business. She also has an exceeding active social life. She's consistenantly balancing her work life and her social life. Hence, the choice of cluster principle.

Mini Village

The site is located in Central Market, Kuala Lumpur. The shops around the site are mainly influenced by the Chinese and Malay architectural style. Both of the architectural styles have some things in common but most commonly, village. Hence, the mini village concept is chosen.

Modern Style

To compliment the surrounding buildings, Modern architectural style is chosen with some particular materials such as, concrete, wood & glass.
