Project discrip on The goal for the project is to combine housing and conserva on, in an old wool spinning mill in Ytre Sandviken in Bergen. The building becomes office/commerce in first and second floor. Third, fourth and fi h floor is to be housing and are considered to be the main interven on. The project recognizes the importance of diversity in architecture and housing, and adapts the former factory by working with daylight condions. Facades becomes an outer perforated skin for the interior, halfclima zed streets. The dwellings become the fully clima zed parts. The overall concept for the interven on is to open the building and embracing the space, light and air. Connec ng it with the undula ng surrounding topography. Outside atmosphere inside the common parts of the build-ing. Inside atmosphere in the private housing units.Different housing arrangement are generated to interest different people to live together, and to share the interior landscape of the building.

This project focuses on a buildings ability to facilitate various programs and users through flexibility and its immediate context. Through essay, atlas, case studies and during a studytrip to Copenhagen and Hamburg in September we studied projects that inspired us to focus on dialogues between learning facili es and the community surrounding it. A er establishing a common interest we focused on crea ng a generator for openess and sharing in a local community as well as an attractor regionally by organizing a mix of programs in different scales in an exis ng building. Our project does not target the tradi onal layout of a school building, nor the conven onal program. It rather aims to create a pla orm where people can exchange knowledge and where program and ac vity can change and adopt throughout the day. We want to achieve this dynamic by facilitate learning for school children during day me as well as courses and ac vi- es for surrounding organiza ons and individuals in the a ernoon / evenings. In order to ac vate this program further we also want to focus on and create spaces for the local community / neighbours.
Complex Context, diversified solu ons. The course aims to re-think the exis ng schools and their contextual rela ons in The city of Bergen, Norway. Projects should develop urban strategies and programs, within the frame of livingcondi ons in Bergen. Projects will through drawing and models, ini ate architectural proposals to interven ons in chosen sites. Profound and careful understanding of place becomes our instrument and point of departure for the development of architectonic ideas and search of clear tectonic and spa al strategies for school projects that has a direct rela onship with the place where they belong.

First Rule Converঞon of Sentralbadet, a former house of swimming into a house for the performing arts.

If the iconic character of the swim hall is not preserved, the whole building might as well be demolished and replaced. We propose to preserve its volume and charm by removing the pool itself and replacing it with a new floor. A new stage for BIT-Teatergarsjen is placed underneath in the footprint of the old pool. The stage for Carte Blanche (CB) is placed on the second floor framing the lobby and the bar. The swim hall is repurposed for the dancers and visi ng performers into (likely) the world’s largest rehersal space, further accelera ng CB, BIT and Bergen’s posi ons at the forefront of interna onal performance art. Addi onally, the use could be shared so the public of Bergen can reclaim Sentralbadet in the form of a mul purpose event space. In this proposal CB and BIT coexist while maintaining individual iden es: CB as a public ins tu on, highlighted by the in mate rela on between the rehersal space and the public, BIT as an underground theatre. An escalator dives from the lobby directly 3 stories down connec ng these two worlds.

During the researchphase leading to this project the focus was the migratory route through Paris and Calais, France and Athens, Greece with emphasis on selforganiza on Research findings and experiences from studytrips to the men oned ci es are the base for the two week project interven on that analyzes the migrant camp in Calais and inves gates how the housing func on could give be er life for its inhabitants if placed elsewhere.
This Master course will explore migratory lines of flight as a social and spa al movement. We will research the intermediate zones, where migra on slips out of the hands of regula ve, codifying, and stra fying policies. We will look at how migrant bodies respond to the hardening of the external and internal borders of Europe, and examine both the local and global implica ons. This includes examining how security regimes (na onal-, interna onal-,local-) adapt to the increasing numbers of migrants. The focus will be on self-organiza on - how migrants change the spaces they occupy, and on the nego a on of space - between temporary and long-term occupa on, between migrants and non-migrants, and between temporary and las ng architecture, between the formal and informal. Self-organiza on and temporal use of space is an important discussion within the discourse of the Right to the City. Effort will be applied to understanding the economical and poli cal circumstances that create these temporal spaces.

A housing soluঞon in the transformaঞon Repurposing warehouse structure for housing.
Project discrip on The project aims to keep exis ng quali es of the structures at Kris anholm in Sandviken, Bergen. Through mapping of the exis ng structures and ambi ons for the developing of the site, the project finds a way to keep an exis ng structure and overall form of a building. And give new public space in all of its footprint. Suspended in the steel structure that used to hold a traverse crane is now 1000 square meters of apartments. The housing units fit in the 5 meter span of the structure. Each unit is developed in this short width, and has many levels and ample of daylight.
