OUR RESPONSIBILITY

FAIRTRADE

Here at Vinga of Sweden, quality is more than just a good product, fine packaging and the enjoyment we hope our users feel when they receive an item from us. To us, quality work is equally as much about ensuring that the employees in the factories that manufacture our products work in proper, safe, legal, humane conditions. It also means constantly looking for new environmentally friendly materials, energy-efficient production and opportunities for improving our world by means of our daily work. We work in full cooperation and are certified in accordance with the following initiatives and standards.

When, as a consumer, you choose Fairtrade-labelled products, you help farmers and workers to improved economic conditions by means of specific criteria for higher wages and a minimum price which exceeds the cost of production. This, together with longterm trade agreements, provides security for all those who do not have very large margins on which to live. In addition to the higher payment, growers also receive an extra premium. This is used to develop the local community both socially and economically, by supporting a new school, new housing or health care, for example, or by investing in agriculture. How the premium is to be used is collectively decided by the growers themselves. Fair Trade is not just about acquiring a better financial situation. The criteria also promote democracy, the right to organize and environmental considerations in production. Child labour and discrimination are discouraged.

BSCI BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) in a collaboration between European businesses seeking to improve working conditions in the global supply chain. BSCI unites over 1,300 companies around a common code of conduct and supports them in working towards an ethical supply chain through a developmentoriented system. The basis for the system is the common code of conduct that all members are committed to implementing in their supply chain. Both external auditing companies and internal audits evaluate the factories in terms of how well they meet the requirements of the common code of conduct. The Code of Conduct itself is based on the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the core conventions of the International Labour Organisation, ILO.

OEKO TEX OEKO-TEXÂŽ Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for raw, intermediate and finished textile products at all stages of production. Examples of products that can be certified are raw and coloured / processed yarns, raw and coloured / processed fabrics and knitting goods and finished articles (clothing of all kinds, home and domestic textiles, bed linen, terry goods, textile toys and much more).

ISO 9001 A quality system in compliance with ISO 9001: 2008 is a tool for companies wishing to engage in effective, structured quality work. The ISO 9001 requirements are addressed to all companies regardless of size and business focus. The purpose of a quality management system is to be able, following the establishment of quality work guidelines, to pro-actively work towards continuous improvement and to ensure the quality of their services and products.

ISO 14001 An environmental management system helps us to work systematically with our organisationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s environmental impact and to find cost-effective alternatives. This makes our business both environmentally friendly and more profitable. With the help of the ISO 14001 international standard for environmental management, the organisation is able to identify and systematically reduce its impact on the environment. The standard supports efforts to develop working methods in the field by, for example, reducing the use of energy and raw materials or the amount of waste and other emissions.

FTI - REPA Producer responsibility for packaging and packaging materials was introduced by the Government in 1994. Producer responsibility means that producers of a commodity have an environmental responsibility which they are obliged to fulfil even after consumersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; end use. Individual companies are all invited to join REPA. By paying packaging charges to REPA, businesses fulfil their producer responsibility, the materials company effectively assuming the responsibility on their behalf. The fees finance the management of recycling stations to which consumers can deliver their packaging for recycling.

GOTS GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and is an international eco-label for natural fibre. The standard regulates the restriction of hazardous substances and emissions throughout the production chain (supply chain). In order to become certified, the standard requires that fibres are cultivated organically in accordance with EU Directives and that thorough checks are performed throughout the process. There also needs to be full consideration of the environment at all stages of the production process. Through such certification, suppliers guarantee that their products are made of at least 70-100% organic materials and that production is responsible both environmentally and socially. Control and monitoring of requirements is undertaken once a year by an independent party. We are working to ensure that more and more of our textile products will be able to achieve a GOTS label. 3
