Shipping Your Wine

BRINGING YOUR WINE HOME

Wine transport – the final step

Shipping your wine is the final and most delicate step in your winemaking journey. It is also potentially the most complex, as we are reliant on the vagaries of the world of global logistics.

While we (sadly) cannot fully control the transport of your wine across borders, we have carefully chosen logistical partners who can help with the coordination of transport documents, taxes, import and export duties in order to ensure that your wines are delivered to your door in a timely and secure manner.

The following document outlines the different processes that need to be considered and understood before arranging your delivery.

We, therefore, ask that you read this booklet carefully and contact me as soon as possible with any questions that you may have.

Understand our shipping procedures

Your wine was purchased “ex-cellars” from Pauillac. This means that transport costs, sales taxes, VAT and any other duties applicable in the destination country are not included in the cost of your barrel. You are, therefore, responsible for the payment of these charges prior to delivery.

SHIPPING OPTIONS AND PAYMENT

There are two options available to you:

1. DIRECT PICK-UP FROM VINIV (PAUILLAC, FRANCE)

If you take possession of your wine within France as a private individual, you are required to pay French VAT (20%). This applies even if you then take your wine out of France. VINIV will invoice the French VAT prior to pickup, as payment must be received before we can legally release your wine.

Alternatively, if you prefer to organise your own collection, via a professional transport service, it is imperative that they contact VINIV, no later than July of the bottling year, in order to arrange the logistics.

2. YOUR WINE DIRECTLY TO YOUR HOME

Prior to the bottling of your wine, we will ask you to complete the VINIV Shipment Form. This online form confirms the exact location of your wine delivery and whether you require multiple delivery points.

Please understand that the information on this form allows us to consolidate shipments to various countries, thereby keeping the costs down for those concerned. Failure to complete this form in a timely manner will lead to additional costs, as your wine will have to be repalletised.

Your delivery details will allow our logistics partners to calculate your shipping costs. They will quote and invoice you directly for transport costs from Pauillac to your home, including VAT and any applicable taxes in your home country.

Our logistical partners

SHIPPING

EUROPE AND INTERNATIONAL

VINIV has partnered with JF Hillebrand, the world’s leader in beverage logistics. Their International Servicing team will work with you directly to organize your wine delivery.

U.S.A

Our US importer, Côte d’Or Imports, will handle the delivery of your wine from Pauillac to your home. They will consolidate all US deliveries in temperature-controlled containers from Bordeaux to their warehouse in the US. From there onwards, they will coordinate the shipment of your cases to their end destination(s) directly with you.

Please note that our US logistics partner does not provide storage facilities, however, if you have your own storage facility, they can deliver to that address. As a result, the inland portion of your delivery will be organised shortly after the wines have reached the U.S. warehouse.

Important note: depending on the delivery State, the quantity of cases shipped and the method of shipment (UPS, FedEx, etc...) the wines must sometimes be removed from the wooden boxes and shipped in approved wine shippers + the wooden boxes empty and separately. Some carriers will not ship in other shippers than their own. Cote d’Or will let you know when this is the case.

UNITED KINGDOM: BERRY BROS. & RUDD ACCOUNT HOLDERS

VINIV will coordinate with Berry Bros. & Rudd to organise a consolidated shipment to their bonded warehouse in the UK. The cost of your shipping from Pauillac to BBR in the UK will be confirmed in advance and must be paid before the wines can be released.

As soon as the wine is delivered to BBR’s warehouse, you will be able to identify it in your wine inventory, via your BBR account. You will then be able to liaise directly with BBR for the shipment of your wine to its final destination.
