The foundation of every successful breeding program is carefully created with quality bloodstock from respected and proven bloodlines. Since the early 1970s, Mulawa has been blessed with the contribution of several extraordinary horses, many of whom have had a profound and lasting impact on the vision, ambition and direction of the Mulawa program. One of the most memorable and influential horses at Mulawa was foundation stallion Ambition, purchased directly from Lasma in the USA. His enduring legacy at Mulawa includes his son Arrival (x Euni by Bandos) as well as several invaluable daughters. One of his very best is the cherished Mulawa Chance, featured on the back cover, at 31 years young. With representatives in some of the world’s leading breeding programs, Mulawa Chance has had a
tremendous influence on the Arabian breed and is still thriving at Alabama with four generations of descendants. A sterling example of the invaluable legacy of Ambition is the tremendously promising Allegiance MI , a son of the late great Magnum Forty Four, whose beautiful dam Audacia has also produced the dynamic multi-champion MI Aphrodite. A National Stud Show Champion Yearling Colt whose show career was prematurely cut short due to a severe injury, Allegiance MI is most assuredly establishing himself as the heir apparent to his sire at Mulawa. Abounding with superior type and refinement, upright elegant forehands, ideal balance and harmony of proportion as well as dynamic athleticism and confident show ring charisma, the two modest foal crops of Allegiance MI have illuminated the show rings across
Australia this past season. Few Arabian stallions around the world can claim the level of show ring and siring accomplishments of Klass, who celebrated his eleventh birthday in January. The pride and joy of Mulawa, Klass set the standard in the continental show ring as the first ever undefeated four-time East Coast Champion in halter, and most impressively, as the only threetime successive Australian Champion: Champion Stallion (2009), Champion Stallion Under Saddle (2010) and Champion Working Stock Horse (2011). Fuelled by this show ring success, the worldwide reputation of Klass has grown exponentially as a direct result of his extraordinary contribution as a sire. Having sired champion progeny on three continents, Klass is the proud sire of over a dozen champions with a perfect show record, as all Klass offspring shown have been show ring winners. The 2014 Australian Championships were especially rewarding for Klass, with
the five get representing their sire all earning Australian Championships. In a remarkable and unprecedented clean sweep of the female breeding division, Klass was the sire of all three champions: Klassical Devotion MI – Champion Yearling Filly, Klassical Presence MI – Champion Junior Filly, and Klassical Dream MI – unanimous Champion Senior Mare. Joining these three beautiful mares in the winner’s circle were Australian Champion Junior Gelding Krusade MI (x DM Marcedes True Love by RHR Marcedes) and Australian Champion Yearling Gelding Khrome MI (x Fames Harmony by Fame Maker R), the latter a great-grandson of Mulawa Chance. The eldest daughters of Klass are both proudly owned by two of the leading international programs. Klassical Dream MI is currently campaigning under the banner of Al Khalediah Stables (Saudi Arabia), while Klassic Harmony MI , a
great-granddaughter of Mulawa Chance, is a valuable member of the Al Shaqab Stud (Qatar) broodmare band. As the most universally esteemed son of the beloved Mulawa foundation mare Karmaa, Klass shares a maternal heritage with several other highly accomplished Mulawa-bred stallions. The rising international star amongst these is the Karmaa great-grandson, Kavalle MI (Gazal Al Shaqab x Karess by Magnum Forty Four), a unanimous Three Year Old Stallion winner at Scottsdale and Australian Champion Yearling Colt. The Mulawa broodmare band encompasses a group of elite mares representing the world’s leading bloodlines. One of the most accomplished young mares from the current collection is Mustang’s Magnum , a nine-year-old sensation proudly bred by Kay and Phil Edward of Shane Edward Arabians in Victoria. A former undefeated show ring winner, Mustang’s Magnum became the first female in the country to be named National Stud Show, East Coast and Australian Champion Yearling Filly. As one of the treasured daughters of Magnum Forty Four, Mustang’s Magnum
has proven her invaluable worth as a broodmare. With just six foals old enough to compete, “Maggie” is the
proud dam of six champions: a perfect production record. In 2014, Mustang’s Magnum set two new industry records as a dam at the East Coast and Australian Championships. Remarkably, three of her produce earned the prestigious title of East Coast Champion: Klassical Dream MI as Champion Senior Mare, Maximilliano as Champion Junior Stallion, and Maximise MI as Champion Two Year Old Colt. All three of these same stellar produce earned honours at the Australian Championships one month later, with unanimous wins for Klassical Dream MI as Champion Mare and Maximilliano as Champion Junior Stallion, respectively. Maximise MI finished just behind full brother Maximilliano, as Reserve Champion
Junior Stallion, a record-setting accomplishment for full siblings. The halter accolades earned by the produce of Mustang’s Magnum were enhanced by Maggie’s eldest foal, Fames Phantom MI , who added to his respectable show record with the title of Australian Champion Gelding Under Saddle, as well as to his dam’s unparalleled list of accomplishments. The most recent edition from Mustang’s Magnum is Monarque MI , a September 2013 bay colt by Marwan Al Shaqab who possesses marvellous potential. The foundation mares of the Mulawa breeding program have proven themselves for nearly four decades as dams of consummate merit. On par with the contributions of Mulawa Chance and Karmaa, the adored Vision daughter M Angelique has left a prominent and highly influential family now in its sixth generation of influence within the Mulawa program. Two members of the fifth generation of M Angelique female descendants, full sisters Always Valentine MI and Valentino’s Angel MI (DA Valentino x Always An Angel by SK Shakla Khan) have been incredibly successful in the international arena. Elder sister Always Valentine MI spent one season in North America, where she earned prestigious titles at the most important breeding competitions on the continent. Always Valentine MI has since returned to join the Mulawa broodmare band, where she produced the promising bay 2013 colt Marvel MI (ZT Marwteyn) on her first effort. Younger sister Valentino’s Angel MI has been a much admired winner on three continents, winning hearts and roses in Australia, Europe and North America with fanfare and grace. As a yearling colt, Prussia MI, a distinguished fourth-generation member of the family of Mulawa foundation mare Dzina, was the most successful competitor in his age division worldwide, as Scottsdale International, World Cup Supreme and Menton Gold Champion Yearling Colt, as well as Silver Champion Yearling Colt at the All Nations Cup. Not to be outdone in the halter arena, Mulawa-bred Maxium, owned by Francisco Rangel of Mexico and a full brother to Mustang’s Magnum, recently achieved the first international success for Mulawa under saddle as Scottsdale Champion Junior Working Stock Horse.
