TRUSS DETAILS The traditional detailing of the truss is done in typical vernacular style of kerala that offers the lightning in attic and outlet for stack effect. The timber back rest offers the comfortable seating as well acts as the support system for transfering the load of the roof to the beneath.
The roofing is done using clay tiles. roof structures have three dimensional space frames. The basic structural elements consist of pairs of kazhukol (rafters) resting on an uttaram (wall plate).
Pairs of kazhukol (rafters) would be bound by horizontal rods going through other pairs of kazhukol. This rod is called vala. Thus, the vala, kazhukol, montayam and uttaram become one unit of roof construction. The path of the vala determines the roof construction of Kerala houses as a three dimensional rigid space frame.

Sky light : As per the concept it is provided to transmit light and ventilation and ETFE material is mainly used to provide strength and resistance to degradation from UV rays and pollution. Solar panels are used which preserve 20% of the solar energy that falls on construction. Roof frame : Modular truss is used to hold the roof from beneath.
The concept of the design is derived from the form of an aquatic animal called “oyster” which is a mollusca where the exterior diagrid smart glazed faced acts the protective calcium layer and the roof that is situated at the centre top acts as the soft skin for day lighting and air exchanges.
External diagrid skeleton : The diagrid system consists of sloping columns modularized every four stories that act like a braced tube. This system resists lateral forces efficiently by its bending or shear action.
Smart skin : • Physical: a physical interdependency exists, such as the location of an underground service or duct route. • Functional: performance independency exists, such as power requirements or data connectivity. • Appropriation: Environmental, Functional and Formational benefits. Smart louver screen panel : Automated facade that opens and closes with respect to the sun orientation and climate type.
Frame : Frame is used as to support and hold the diagrid structure with the panels.
