Chairman’s Report:
As I sat down to write this month’s report, I looked at the clock and realised it has been another late night in the shed working on projects. The Valiant has a fancy new pair of electric cooling fans installed and I am now confident that it won’t get too warm while cruising in Whangamata at this year’s Beach Hop event. Time will tell, I guess. The New Year got off to a great start and Summer has been kind to us this year allowing plenty of opportunities to get out on the road. Our annual East Coast Rally was a huge success, and I would like to both thank and congratulate everyone involved. The rally was well organized, and I was very impressed with how smoothly everything seemed to run on the day. Certainly, a job very well done! It seems we may have finally put the challenges of the pandemic behind us, and we saw a great turn out from our own branch members and members from other branches that made the journey to the Eastern Bay of Plenty for the rally. I had my fair share of fun early in the day and had some unexpected excitement in the afternoon acting as a rescue crew for some Tauranga entrants who had a bit of a mechanical issue with a sporty little Triumph. I sure hope they enjoyed their ride in the Valiant. It is good to see that we have plenty of club activities coming up on the calendar and I appreciate the participation of keen branch members when we are organizing our monthly runs. There were plenty of ideas put forward in our February meeting and I am looking forward to planning outings to these interesting locations. A number of keen branch members will be meeting at Matata to attend the Surf and Sand Autorama car show at Pukehina next weekend, and I am looking forward to seeing you all there.
