CHAIRMANS REPORT
Hi guys
That Magic month of the year is looming. The May AGM month. To all members please think about who you would like on the committee for this next year. Plus if you have an idea how things could function even better we need to here about it.
Our last meeting to me was very successful where members stood up to take their turn to organize club runs .The question is can this replace a Club Captain? Well I believe it could. A reminder I need numbers and Menu choice for the 10pin bowling and lunch in Oamaru.
I understand we have the 3 passes run on the 11th May and we will be driving it backwards. Let's give it a go. If it's deemed unsafe on the day I'm sure we will head on a run somewhere. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
Well must go. AGM next meeting 16th May at 7.30pm.
Cheers Owen

Waimate VCC Hall and buildings
It has been interesting watching the restoration of the Arcadia and how impressed people have been. Approximately 15 years ago, I believe we sold the Hart Parr, and used some of the money to paint and spruce up our building. It gave a lift to our club and to the people that use it. For the last few years, we have really done very little maintenance to our hall and building, and people seem reluctant to do so. The hall and building are a reflection on the state of our club and how we and other people see us. The hall is used regularly by many dancers and other uses, and the condition reflects on all of us. The front of the building is peeling in places, and all the outside windows need painted. The hall, toilets and kitchen/store, have all become cluttered with objects and old magazines, old shelves and bits and pieces that are no longer used. Where has our pride as a club gone? As you all know, I never shy away from saying it how it is, but I also never shy away from doing the work. I believe we need to start fixing up the building and bringing some pride back to what is our clubrooms and meeting place, and also having a well-presented clubroom for when other people choose to use it. We need to start with the floor in the hall, yes it needs done, it hasn’t been touched for 39 years and it is the first thing you see. We could do with new lighting and curtains, do some cleaning and painting. Let’s put up some more motoring memorabilia in the hall as we are a car club. The meeting room could do with some paint and new shelves, lets sort the displays and get rid of the clutter. Sort the display boards and arrange the displays properly. The kitchen needs sorting and finishing. Decide what you want in the kitchen and finish it. Somone decided to sell one of the ovens, and then did nothing with the hole it left. The outside needs work done. We need to fix the peeling paint and fix the sign writing. The windows need painting, we replaced a window pane and never cleaned it and it looks terrible. All these things add up to make it look old and drab.
I propose we do the floor at the quoted price of $2000. I suggest we allow money for the curtains and paint. The windows can be scraped and painted for very little money. Someone can organise the kitchen and work out how they would like it finished. Get rid of the clutter and rubbish, all this would take is a willing bunch of helpers, a few working bees and spending a little money.
What is everyone’s thoughts??
