Hi ya a bit late getting my report in this month. Have been in rangiora back now to put pen to paper. Good to see two new members at the last meeting Andrew and Noel welcome again guys. I would like to apologize to Maureen forgetting your surname wrong where I got that from I've got no idea. I bet I don't do that again. Insane that thanks to Maureen for starting to advertise the Wallaby rally. A reminder to our members I need numbers for a Christmas run on the 10th of December. Riverstone will be our destination after a car run. Hopefully I will have some information about the teapot Rally on the 12th of November at our next meeting. We haven't forgotten about a car rally this month for our Club members we will keep you informed with what we get are going to do. The weekends are coming around too quick. A reminder to all members Robert will be showing a CD on V8 engines at our next meeting. Should be interesting, let's get behind Robert. Well not a lot to report this month. See you at the next meeting on the 19th of October at 7:30.

CHAIRMANS REPORT
Cheers Owen.

Part 2 Driving the Beast (Brush)

Starting from Cold:

1. Make sure in neutral, ie lever in middle notch

2. Turn on fuel , flood carb, turn on oil , set advance /retard lever to retard

3. Crank over a few times slowly with rag wrapped over carb to prime, remove rag

4. Switch on ignition, bring up to compression stroke with crank handle (note it turns left) a swift pull over it should start.

Let it idle , don’t touch anything until it warms up, sometimes when very cold it is necessary to open main jet 1 full turn and jack up back axle to allow trans oil to spin back wheels and get engine turning faster.

Opps forgot to mention make sure brakes are locked otherwise you have just been run over.

Hot. Usually just turn everything on as above and crank unless there is crowd about then it will not start.

Teapot Rally

12th November

10th December is the date for our Xmas Run and lunch at the Riverstone Kitchen

Numbers needed please advise Owen

On the Road

Foot on brake, release park brake mechanism, bring engine revs up a little (RH lever on steering column ) Ignition , advance about an inch (LH Lever) move gear leaver into back slot, left foot on brake, bring revs up and it should move away.

Then at 5-10mph change into top , advance spark, adjust throttle to suit.

In top gear if you brake for a corner etc, the transmission will release and you coast until brake is off, have to make sure it does not over rev.

In Low or reverse you need to flick it out of gear (no clutch) .

Brakes are really good , have to be careful to not lock up (no ABS)

All hand signals have to be done while working throttle and advance levers, gear changes and waving to the ladies, it can get really busy

On open road or on hills the exhaust cut out can be opened , not much , more power but sounds nice (baby bulldog)

Fuel consumption is 30-40mpg , so sit back and enjoy the flight, you will be there in a while.

It’s a fun car to travel in but can be hard work in town, there is a spare seat for a nice adventurous lady.

Next Month 1929 Desoto Roadster. What is it like to wn one.

WE need other members to write about their cars .
