Hi guys.
September has been a sad month with the loss of an older member. I have expressed our sadness to Mrs Hooper and family with the loss of Arthur Hooper.
And sadly the loss of John Lester to a heart attack very suddenly. John was a member of Waimate VCC a few years ago before he shifted to Temuka .
I understand the mid week run was very successful last month. I couldn't make it myself but a good run for those who did.
We have some good prizes for our first raffle on the 4th of October which most of them have been donated to us. I will let you know which prizes were donated at a later date. Thanks to those members who are on the roster for selling raffle tickets. Those members that weren't contacted I shall call on you on our next date the 6th December.
There has been a change of date for the T pot Ralley. It is now being held on the 9th of November. It's hard to secure a date this time of the year that suits both clubs.
Xmas is coming WOW. I have an idea for this year's celebration. Will let you know at the next meeting.
If you have a suggestion let's hear it. Signing off now the rugby is about to start. Yah Cheers Owen
Midweek Run 25th September
Midweek Run set out by Trevor Holland ending up at Rooney’s Lookout on
Passing Lane
Last Thursday 19th September, Arthur Hooper passed away, after a long well fought battle. Arthur was a dedicated car enthusiast and often told people , that the love of driving his different cars bought a smile to his face. Arthur was a man of great knowledge and wisdom. And an avid follower of all things to do with cars. Kindness and generosity. May he rest in peace , condolences to Jenny and his family.
John Lester passed away suddenly on Sunday 22nd September . In the beginning of our Waimate Club Rooms , John painted the complete interior. He and I were the youngest members and very active in those days. John often drove us around when we did mystery bus tours and out of town trips. John and Mary were greatly missed when they left Waimate. They did however always support our rallies and events, over the years.
Our sincere condolences to Mary and the Lester family. John Dawson
