Secretary Snippets At the end of February we had a couple of interesting things. On Friday the 24th of February participants in the National Motor Cycle Rally were at the Okahakura Hall for lunch. They had spent the last few days at the National Motorcycle Rally at Waitomo Caves. This week they have been involved in an After Rally Tour, in the form of a Hub Rally. They had been visiting the old mill in Waimiha district in the morning and were going to the Manu Ariki Marae in the afternoon, but this was cancelled. However they were at the Okahakura Hall for lunch. There were motorbikes from Dunedin, Christchurch, Gisborne, Auckland and Whangarei. Colin Manning was able to take some photos of them. (See over the page.) Norma Thank You Colin _________________________________________________________
Then on Sunday the 26th of February we had our monthly outing & meeting. Though the meeting was not held. An interesting trip to Campbell’s Wright place at Waituhi took place. This was thoroughly enjoyed by the members that attended. Thank you Glenda. Then we were taken on a tour of Campbell sheds to view his collection of Volkswagen and cars. How many Volkswagens, did we see ???? The Catch Cry was ........But there’s more and another shed was found with Volkswagens in.
Peugeot Cars Rob Dowle
On the 15th March Rob Dowle a member of the branch for many years passed away at the great age of 94. Our thoughts are with his wife Mavis and daughters Heather & Kathyrn and the late Beaven and all the members of their rather large family. Rob & Mavis were very active members, and always willing to assist in many of the branch activities. They were the owners of the local bus company for many years. He was known as “The Apprentice. “
1968 Peugeot 404 (This car was in Taumarunui a few years ago.) On the Saturday the 25th March KCVCC member Nick Watson is hosting a Interclub weekend for Peugeot cars. There will be about 10 cars attending the event. They are using the Clubrooms as a starting point and base.
Then on Wednesday the 5th April a visit by North Island Club Captain Tour Group for Morning Tea at 10.00 a.m. at our Clubrooms. ??? After beginning their tour from Taupo the previous day.) They have stayed overnight in Taumarunui. They will visit the railway Museum before coming to the Clubrooms for morning tea. (This date has been change as they wanted time to look around Taupo.)
