If you have email please put it on our mailing list as it is an excellent way of providing updates and information during the month between newsletters. So the options are: 1. Receive Email newsletter but no printed version (saves the club printing costs) 2. Receive Email newsletter and printed version 3. Just be on our email list for updates. I use a list that hides the emails so yours will not be visible to other recipients. Graeme

Club Captain’s Report We have spent some time planning events for the rest of 2017 but at this stage only the September events are finalized. The Santa Parade has been changed to 25th November so we do not need to cope with all the extra traffic on the day of Windsor Rally. Members will still have the opportunity of taking part in the Santa Parade, driving our vehicles (optional) ahead of the trucks as was originally planned for the Parade. Rebecca & Kathleen. Coming Events – North Otago Branch Sunday 3rd September

Opening Run & Tea Pot Rally

Combined with Waimate Branch. Meet at the Club Rooms for a 1pm start for our Opening Rally. We will meet Waimate Branch members at the Waitaki Bridge Hall at 2pm and return to our Clubrooms for afternoon tea and a short quiz. Please bring a plate for afternoon tea as we are hosting Waimate this year. Wednesday 6th September Club Night 7.30pm. Speaker Murray Frew. His recent trip to South Australia. Tuesday 12th September

Mid – Week Run. Lindsay & Christine Schaffer are organizing this run. Details elsewhere in The Distributor.

Coming Events – Other Branches. Saturday 2nd September Waimate Branch Swapmeet nd Saturday 2 September Banks Peninsula – Levels Race meeting rd Saturday 23 September Central Otago – Blossom Festival Rally. Beaded Wheels Scribe Thank you for your overwhelming response concerning my request for comments about whether we should keep the cups and trophies, instead of just giving out certificates. I have picked out the four that cover other possible options :1/ That we keep the cups and have them given out at the end of the event to the winners who have their pictures taken with the cup. Then the cup immediately goes back into the club display case. 2/ The cups and trophies should be kept as the decision to do away with them should have been done with a notice of motion. All club members should have had input. 3/ "Definitely the cups and trophies are the way to go. It's a challenge to have your name added to a trophy which has been continually contested and been around for years and therefore means so much more to the winners". 4/ Each event should have a shield and the winners name is engraved onto a small plate and placed on the shield. The winner is presented with the shield and photo taken; the shield is replaced on the wall of the club rooms, with the winners name now on it. In this way the wooden shield could last for years. Certificates would be awarded with all the above. My only advice to you all is to wait till next AGM, and then you can either change it back to the way it was or just keep the certificates. Thank you for your feedback. Clive Blunden, Club Scribe.

From the Committee After discussion at our meeting 22 Aug is was decide that any charging for the Distributor hard copy would be revisited before next year’s AGM where we could look at increasing the Branch levy that is the portion of the Sub that the branch receives back currently $20. And has not been changed for many years. Feedback from some members was that they thought that they were already paying for it, (a year’s hard copy posted is about the same as the levy per member) we only post out 24 and email out the rest. The levy is your share of running our local club a lot more expenses than just sending out a Magazine hard copy, so the more members that elect to get email delivery saves using the levy money for this purpose.
