"Could the person who mistakenly uplifted the FIVA Flag from the 2016 International Rally Headquarters in Dunedin, please return it to the National Office" I know that it was over a year ago, but so far it has not been located so it is hoped that one of the entrants may have accidentally picked it up. Kind Regards Julie Cairns - Gee Administration Manager Vintage Car Club of NZ - National Office

Chairmans report It was with pleasure that Marion & I went on the Wellsford - Warkworth “Are We There Yet” rally. Started in Wellsford then thru Mangawhai then Paparoa, Tauroa, Maungakaramea, Snookes road and had lunch at the Country Yard near Maungatapere. We then went to the Packard Museum & on thru Otaika Valley & finished at Waipu. We came home whilst the majority stayed at Waipu Cove. It was a very well set event. Saturday 8th April 4 entrants from the NVCC went on the Brian Parker event set by Sue & Terry Rogers. Another very good rally starting in Okaihau past Horeke near the cycle trail then up the main road to Victoria Valley hall for lunch, fantastic scones. Then back country to Far North clubrooms for tea, excellent meal. Both these Clubs were part of our Club in the eighties & used to regularly attend Whangarei meetings. Hopefully by the time this is printed the Tutamoe Event will have been well supported. Bruce Cosson has put together a very good Rally & hopefully gets the support he deserves. If you don't have a Club car operational come in your modern. The Club is about people as much as cars. Paul Collins from the National Executive attended our last Committee night & had some very good advice, National rules override Branch rules. I wish to acknowledge the three great runs that Denise & Dave Williams put on for the benefit of all Club Members. The fact that the weather was atrocious at the start and obviously deterred many of you, those that did come had a great time & interestingly the weather cleared for both outside events Taiharuru was brilliant & Sunday was also favoured. SO A GREAT BIG THANK YOU DENISE & DAVE BRILLIANT Let‟s see who can step up and continue such a great effort. Remember the AGM is now coming within the 45 days notice required. Please read the notices regarding this. To all of you who helped with the Swap Meet many thanks. Till next month Happy Motoring Keith

In my last letter to the editor I acknowledged the efforts of those involved in the truck shed concrete footpath. Unfortunately due to a brain malfunction I failed to acknowledge the efforts of Trevor Reilly, Lawrence Hillier and Alan Pearson, who all played a huge part in this effort. I apologise to all concerned. Thanks Mike McGee (Acting secretary)

Motorcycle report Eight riders and a pillion passenger turned up for our monthly ride in conditions which didn‟t look too good, very overcast and drizzling. It was good to see Graham on his Norton 600 for the first time, a bike he has recently restored to a very high standard. Donald was still sorting out the wiring on his Triumph which gave up the ghost on our last run, so he resorted to his new Triumph, while Roger Ballard turned out on his Triumph Tiger 800. Cam led the way out over Vinegar Hill to Kauri and then up over Apotu Road which unfortunately is under reconstruction with some heavy metal which made for some interesting riding. After a stop for refreshments at Hukerenui we returned via the same route before branching off into Rushbrook Road and returning via Matarau. All in all a good run. MooLoo Meander Cambridge club rooms and start of the MooLoo Meander. Cam, Simon & Sylvia and I made the annual pilgrimage down to Cambridge on the weekend of the 7th - 8th for the Waikato run which was held in glorious weather. Robert & Lorraine although not riding (Lorraine is still recuperating after her operation) attended the Saturday night dinner and prize giving. The run travelled east from Cambridge, ascending a steep winding bush clad hill road, at the top of which afforded panoramic views of the Waikato. Unfortunately no time to stop as this was a timed section. Then it was on to and through Matamata toward the Kaimai range and north to Te Aroha for lunch. The return trip was over flat straight roads in a more direct route. Hugh Andersons (of Grand Prix fame) beautifully presented Vincent Rapide which he rode on the day. These bikes are now fetching over $100,000. „Not for Sale‟ says Hugh No Trophies this year I‟m afraid but Robert & I came second and third in the raffle respectfully. Cheers for now and looking forward to our Northland motor cycle rally next month on the 20th.

Keep the rubber to the road. Lofty

Further Progress: About two months ago the committee received a letter from Kiwi North saying that the path along the side of the truck shed no longer met health and safety regulations and could we please repair/replace it. This was discussed at the next committee meeting and passed. The footpath has now been finished. A huge thank you to Virgin Concrete who supplied the concrete at no cost to the club. Thanks also to Downtown Tools who supplied a concrete cutting blade at no cost to the club. Thanks also to Keith Taylor, Gwynn Price, Alan Pearson, Lawrence Hillier and Trevor Rielly who prepared the site and laid the concrete. I believe Marion has volunteered to do the garden along the edge. Craig Mcdougall has offered to supply volcanic topsoil and Lawrence Hillier has offered to transport it. Lew Appleton has also offered soil. Thanks to all involved. It is so good to see members getting together and getting the job done. This is what our club needs to move forward. Mike McGee

Tutamoe Rally Review TUTAMOE Easter Sunday 2017 the ‘RIP-SNORTER’ run “. . . . A great run yesterday. Really enjoyed a true vintage run.” “What I get from these rally days is friendship.” If you took part in the event last weekend and survived - well done. Congratulations. As anticipated there were a number of things that we could have done differently, and next time we probably will. Overall though the day lived up to expectations and the most important ingredient, fun, was there in buckets. Rob‟s Model A survived. „Too dark on the main road home run,‟ was the comment. Thanks for the ride Rob. And what about that Dodge huh? To get the whole story see the June „Beaded Wheels‟ mag. Nice one Donna The Best Dressed award for the day goes to Adam in the speedster. Looking every bit and totally vintage in all ways. Very good Adam. The car looked and sounded splendid.

Thanks for taking part everyone. Until next time. Bruce.
