Chairmans report Hi everyone things seem to be ticking along nicely in spite of the wind, rain & in some parts snow. I can’t remember the whole of the central North Island being shut down for so many days. Daughter & I went to Napier on the Tuesday - Wednesday to pick up a light 15 Citroen for my sister in law and were just over the Napier - Taupo road before it was closed for 3 days. I haven't seen such heavy snow before. On the club scene a very good day put on by Bruce Cosson, the look in went to his place on Mt Tiger. Lovely setting & convivial afternoon at the Parua bay Tavern an enjoyable day with good attendance. Our next run will be on the second Sunday 13th August 10am start at the NVCC Clubrooms with lunch at the Poroti Tavern at 1-00pm We are setting most of the events on the second Sunday of the month so that there is some certainty for Club day. Planning is well under way for the Far North Tour. There is an After Tour planned to go to Cape Reinga At this time of the year would Club Members PLEASE NOT PARK ON THE GRASS at the Clubrooms. Remembering that all parking should be in the main parking area. All the best Keith Taylor

Motorcycle report It’s the 2nd July 7.30 am with blue sky and sunny, but from my place the town is covered in heavy fog. By 9am the blue sky and sun has gone and the grey clouds and a few showers had rolled in. By 12 o’clock it had all passed. Choice!!! Arriving at Frings alleyway at 12.55 pm there were 7 motorcycles and their riders and one pillion rider. This month we had a Honda, a BSA, a BMW, a Indian, a Triumph and 3 AJS motorcycles, one of the AJS’s was ex Athol Geddes which now belongs to Trevor Ponzts a 1961 model 31 650cc twin. After some discussion it was decided to head for Ocean beach at a stately pace as the road looked wet and slippery, everyone arrived at Ocean beach with no troubles except for the Triumph (the rider said “The rear wheel broke free and spun on the leaves on the windy part of the road before Urquhart’s Bay”) After a ten minute break we all headed back to follow Mt Tiger road. The BMW and the 650 AJS headed straight back following the Whangarei heads road. At the Whareora end of Mt Tiger the sky was looking very grey and it looked like there was heavy rain towards Kamo where we were heading so Martin Salter and I headed for home just making it before the rain. The remaining 4 made it half way along Harris road before they ran into heavy rain. In all we had a good ride before the rain. Next Month ride is on the 6th August at 1pm Robert Young

Dargaville Doings Mid week run 21st June, 7 cars. The weather is a bit windy and the sun trying to come out headed over the Northern Wairoa bridge turned into Hoanga Road and made our way towards Arapohue Road and around the back roads at this time not to many pot holes. So far the roads are not bad as we got into Tokatoka Road which was a bit rougher, into Dreadon, Ringrose Roads then made our way to Rehia Road. As we went into Parahi Road the clouds started to grow darker and the rain stayed away. Turn into Oparakau road and stop a 1129 at a old Kauri Villa owned by Donald Finayson Est and had afternoon tea on the veranda out of the wind also had a peep through the windows to have a look inside.
