August Newsletter 2017 The days are finally warming and spring flowers are appearing through the sodden earth with a promise of better days ahead perhaps. It was discussed at the July meeting that if you believe you are eligible for a 25 or 35 year badge you must approach Secretary Gary and he will organise this for you. Wednesday Run – 2nd August 4 years of outings completed – well done! 12 vehicles and 27 people participated today. The trip this month replicated the route of the first outing travelling from the Clubrooms, Greenfield, Tuapeka West and Lawrence. Due to the recent damage with flooding in Lawrence the cuppa was held at Lola’s Café in Milton.

Wednesday Run on the 6th September. Visiting the Gasworks Museum at 20 Braemar Street, off Hillside Road. $5.00 per person This will be a visit to the Gasworks Museum in South Dunedin which operated from 1863 to 1967. Meet there at 1 p.m. for the tour of the Museum. Quiz Night 26th August at the Clubrooms 7 p.m. $2.00 per person Another great night with Kaye and Paul McNabb testing our memories. This is a fun night. Teams will be made up on the night. The Molyneux Women’s Group have been invited to come along. A supper plate would be appreciated. Opening Run 23rd September. Meeting at Beaumont 11.45 a.m Picnic Lunch at Roxburgh. (Shelter available if weather not so good) Visiting Harness Horse Racing trainers Geoff & Judy Knight at the Race Track, Roxburgh East approx. 1.30p.m. Afternoon Tea will be at Faigan’s Cafe-Store Millers flat approximately 3.15 p.m. This will be a relaxing day starting a little later so you can cast your vote before coming or if you haven’t then you can do it in Roxburgh. Gordon Duthie Central Otago Branch are holding their Blossom Festival Rally also on the 23rd September. This is proving a popular date for the events calendar.


National Day Fundraiser for Cancer Society It was decided at the July Meeting that South Otago Branch make a donation to the local branch of the Cancer Society as a volunteer co-ordinator was not forthcoming. Gore Branch are leaving from the Gore Town & Country at 1 p.m. with a cost of $10 per vehicle finishing in Lawrence. The Otago Branch are combining with the Big Rigs for Kids in Dunedin. Annual Clutha Rally 11th November 2017 The Rally route has been mapped out, offers of help have been coming in so another good day out is anticipated. Stuart will have the Entry Form ready for printing next week so you can look forward to receiving one in the near future.
