CHAIRMANS REPORT The Posh picnic that is organised for Sunday 26th March is an opportunity to showcase our club to the general public. This will be held at the Wind Wand carpark grassed area commencing at 2.00pm.The bollards will be removed so that you can drive your vehicle on to the grassed area to the left of the wind wand carpark. Please see advert in this newsletter. We hope to see you all dressed for the occasion with your best china and posh sandwiches or cakes. The club custodian Russell Lambert has been keeping our lawns mown for quite a few years now and has reported that the ride on mower is coming to the end of its useful life with a major break down recently so the committee have decided to apply for a capital grant from the TSB bank to fund the purchase of a new ride on lawn mower. We will apply as soon as the application is complete and in the meantime Russell has been able to keep the old mower going. This important part of keeping our clubrooms looking tidy and I again thank Russell for his untiring efforts. As of March 2017 we have 182 fully paid up members including joint members. I have just returned from Auckland where I attended the Excutive meeting as Delegate and a report will be available in the next newsletter. One idea that was discussed was to have a National Day all over New Zealand, may be in August/September and link up with a charity like the Cancer Society and each branch organise a run to raise money for that charity. It’s possible to create this event for little or no cost. It was moved to proceed with this and it to be known as "Rally For Cancer" and the date would be Sunday 20th August. All branches will participate and this needs a national push to get it promoted and market it. We are the leaders in Historic Motoring and will involve other motoring clubs. So keep the passion............attend the posh picnic all dressed up.......... enjoy the last of the summer weather " Yeah Right"............keep to the Left....... Keep the Passion.... ..

CLUB CAPTAINS REPORT This year’s Mini Vin Rally was well attended as usual and enjoyed by all. I didn’t have a chance to count the number of cars entered but there must have been over 30. Many thanks to Colin and Team for organizing a great afternoon. It was good to see Alan and Robyn Henry out in their newly purchased MGB GT which has replaced the Alvis. Another new car to the Branch is Elinor and Bill Durling’s Sunbeam Talbot convertible. It should keep Bill occupied over the winter months and we look forward to seeing it back on the road for future club events. COMING EVENTS Thursday 23 March the Mid Week Run starting at the children’s playground car park, Orlando St Stratford at 1.15pm. Sunday 26 March our Posh Picnic on the grassed area next to the Windwand car park assembling at 3.00pm, further details in Chairman’s report. Friday and Saturday 21 & 22 April our Maunga Moana Rally, Stratford. This year’s Rally is being organized by Rob Thomson and assistance for running this event is urgently required so if you are not entering and could help please phone Rob 7584881. Safe Motoring John.

Des Cornwall with the Jag at the Waitara Mini Vin Tour 2017 EDITORS REPORT Hi all just returned from a most enjoyable weekend away with a group from our Branch, visiting Raglan and some interesting places in between over Taranaki Anniversary weekend. A group of nine cars travelled north on Saturday, using the alternate route from Awakino, via Marokopa, which was our lunch stop, to our overnight stop at the old Waitomo Hotel. Sunday morning saw us leaving for Raglan, via Piongia where we stopped for a coffee break at the Clydsdale Café, and then turning off at Whatawhata to take SH 23 to Raglan. A few rain events saw the open top cars juggling their hoods to keep dry but the weather overall was dry. The harbour cruise was bypassed, and instead we all enjoyed a lovely evening meal at the Orca Restaurant on the Raglan seafront. A lunchstop at Bosco’s Café, Te Kuiti on the way home capped off a most enjoyable trip, thanks to Ron and Dianne all their efforts to
