Chairman’s Report A very Happy New Year To all Members hope everyone has had a well-earned break over the Christmas New Year holiday period and all are refreshed ready for some excellent motoring that Club captain John Muter has in store for us. Please check the what’s on part of the newsletter to see what’s coming up. I would like to pass on the clubs grateful thanks for all members who supported the annual Christmas parades held in New Plymouth Bell Block Waitara Inglewood Stratford and all the other ones that were held. As we are trying to watch our costs for the posting of newsletters it would be an advantage if members when they collect their newsletters at club night could check to see if members in their home areas could take those newsletters and give them to the members who are not present. In an effort to promote our branch our Club Captain is going to organise a Posh Picnic on Sunday March the 26th. We will use our cars and get dressed up and gather the china from the china cabinet and end up in a public place and have a Posh Picnic with all the trimmings that you can bring. The alterations to the toilet block are nearing completion and a big thank you to Brian Bolland who has overseen this project and he has made sure that the alterations have come in on budget. The final touch is needed for the painting to be organised and this will finish a long awaited upgrade to this amenity. If you can spare a bit of time to help out in this regard please see Brian and he would appropriate your help on this. We will be holding another working bee soon at the clubrooms to tidy up around the section and a bit of cleaning of the gutters and roof areas and the buildings. We will let you know on the date. Some members have asked if they could organise a weekend away at some of the long weekends that are coming up. We would encourage any members to make your thoughts known to Club Captain John and get under way with a run for members to enjoy. It’s a great idea and has been successfully held in years gone by and should be held as it is a great way to have an interesting weekend and great camaraderie. Please remember because our newsletters are ready to be picked up at the Noggin and Natters that organising for events and announcements have to be a month ahead. So I hope to see members out and about in their vehicles as summer is now here and the warm sunshine is supposed to be warming everything up. There is something for everyone to do over the next three or four months be it a rally outside our branch or a club run. So enjoy your Club. Take care when out driving on the roads.........Keep to the Left.........Keep the passion.......Cheers...... Chairman Colin

From the International 2021 Rally Director. On the weekend of 13/14th January a visit was held in New Plymouth by ten members of the Management committee including the President Diane Quarrie of the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand. They were here to inspect the Facilities that were proposed for the holding of this event in January 2021. All members of the committee were very impressed with our TSB stadium and the New Plymouth Race Course, The Bowl of Brooklands and Pukekura park facilities. The Stadium was toured with NPDC personal on hand to answer any queries. A tour of some of the road routes took place with very good comments from management members about the condition of our back country roading network. A four hour meeting was held to decide on dates, budgets, facilities and naming rights and I am pleased to announce that a former member of our branch and a previous rally director of the 2000 international rally Mr Greg Terrill from the Waikato has been appointed as the VCC management representative and will be an enormous help to me as he will have valuable knowledge. I will make further announcements on appointments after I have viewed all the questionnaire forms sent to all Taranaki branch members that are now being returned. I would like to thank those members who have returned their forms. Regards Colin Johnston Rally Director 2021 New Plymouth. A Rally "Like No Other" WANTED FOR THE BRANCH The position of Branch Archivist has become available following the move to the Waikato of our previous Archivist. This is an important position for the Branch and the job involves, collecting and archiving all our Branch records, compiling photo records of Branch events and maintaining these records in a safe and secure location. Interested parties please contact Chairman Colin. Ph 7546216

EDITORS REPORT For those who don’t subscribe to the NZ Classic Driver magazine you would have missed the item in the Jan-Feb edition by Mark Holman on the 2016 Garden Festival in Taranaki. Along with a couple of photos of Branch members cars there was a good description of the other cars on the Festival run that day, and a description of his visit to the TATTM museum off SH3, precious publicity for our Branch. If you read through Johns, report you will see that there is a good variety of events coming up which hopefully we will see some of you at. Also you will see an Item advertising the upcoming Ngawhini hill Climb to be held on March the 4th.Anyone interested in competing in this event can contact me or Les Bognuda for a copy of the race regulations and entry forms. See you at the clubrooms, ED.
