CLUB CAPTAINS REPORT

Hello Folks It is hard to believe that another year has gone past and that we are again holding our AGM of the branch this month.We have had another enjoyable 12 months and it is due to your committee working along with members to organise interesting noggin and natter nights and club outings.I would like to thank all members who have supported these outings. As you will read in my Annual Report it is my intention to step down as your Chairman. After 6 years in the position I feel that somebody else should have a go.I remind all members that our AGM will be held on Thursday 18th May at 8.00pm. So please come along and support your club.All branch committee positions are open for nominations that must be in the Secretary's hands two clear days before the 18th May.Please give this some serious thought and if you or you know of any member who is willing to have a go at helping to run our club please contact any member of the committee or give me a ring. April is Maunga Moana Rally month and I am pleased to inform you that we have over 60 entries this year. Rob Thomson is the Organiser and it looks like it will be a great weekend as the long range weather forecast is showing brilliant sunshine after all the wild and wet weather we had over the Easter break.This year the rally will center on Stratford and the Shakey Pear restaurant will be hosting the annual Maunga Moana Dinner that is in the Stratford Pioneer Village complex. The road rally has been organised by Rob to give entrants a taste of our beautiful back country eastern roads .Along with our local entries we have entries from the Waikato. Auckland, Whanganui and Wellington.All classes are represented except the Veteran class this year. We look forward to another great rally. See you all at the Maunga Moana Rally in Stratford, the start is at 9.25 at the Stratford A and P showgrounds even if you are not entering please come and welcome and support the entrants. Take care driving on the roads over our Maunga Moana weekend........ keep to the left.........stay safe........ See you in stratford..Keep the Passion........ remember the AGM............. First of all many thanks to the members that helped at the working bee to tidy the grounds at the clubrooms. Also to Grant Bishop for removing the rubbish from behind the parts shed. The property now looks much better for your efforts and is much appreciated. The Posh Picnic was well attended even though the weather was threatening in the morning. In the afternoon it cleared and the sun came out so our afternoon teaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s never got soggy. The event attracted a good number of spectators who enjoyed seeing the cars and talking with the members. This was a fantastic publicity event for the Branch and I consider we should try it again next year. COMING EVENTS Thursday April 20 Club night, guest speakers Barbara and Keith Wingate wikll show a DVD they made during a recent trip through African national Parks. Friday and Saturday 21,22 April our Maunga Moana Rally from Stratford organized by Rob Thomson.There have been an excellent number of entries so this will be a fantastic week end. Sunday 30 April our clubrooms and the Parts Shed will be open from 2 to 4 pm. Thursday May 18 our A G M, please ensure your nominations for the committee are in the secretaries hands before this important meeting. I will be standing down as Club Captain this year due to other commitments but will be happy to assist with organizing some events. Sunday May 28 I am trying to organize a run to view an interesting Car collection, we will meet at our club rooms at 2 pm , this will be a fine weather event, more details in next monthâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s mag. The 2016 year was a year of change for the Branch’s income stream from members’ subscriptions. During the year the date subscriptions become due occurred twice because of the changes in managing membership subscriptions by the national office. From 2017 our income from this source will then occur near the end of our financial year. During the year the decision was made to upgrade the washroom and toilet areas of the clubrooms. Initially it was proposed an application be made to the TSB Community Trust for a Capital Grant to cover the cost of the upgrade. As the application was pursued, with two firm quotes to hand, it became apparent the branch would be responsible for further costs, e.g. consents etc, as required by the Trust. At this point our committee member, Bryan Bollond, volunteered to look at the project and subsequently presented the committee with a design for the alterations, and a quote for the work. As both bank accounts were in a healthy position, but earning very little interest, Bryan suggested the project be funded from the branch accounts, and not drawing on the Term Deposit Account. The committee agreed to Bryan’s proposal and quote, and that we accept his offer to undertake the project, which at its conclusion came in at under budget. As the painting of the alterations was not part of the quote, the committee moved this cost be the subject of an application to the TSB Community Trust for an Operational Grant The year’s two national events, Maunga Moana and Rubber Duckie, were both successful. Thank you to the teams who organised the two events. During 2016, the sale of parts and surplus publications from the library continued on a healthy level. Thank you to those involved

It is increasingly concerning that trying to find members that are willing to put their name forward to help run the club and put on interesting events for members is getting harder each year and I am unsure if it is being complacent or that we are all getting older and have busier lives.

The Vintage Car Club of New Zealand (Inc) Taranaki Branch CHAIRMANâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S ANNUAL Report 2017 To The Members of the Taranaki Branch of the Vintage Car Club (inc). It has been a privilege to continue again to be your chairman over the last 12 months and indeed as Chairman over the last 6 years. It is now time for me to step down and let somebody else takes the reins of this wonderful club .Thank you for all your support and comments over the past 6 year. It truly has been a pleasure to represent this branch. The monthly chairmanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s chatter on activities in our Topical Torque newsletters covers a percentage of this annual report as I have reported or commented each month on most of the activities that have been held for you, the members. Membership. It is pleasing to report that our membership has held steady over the past year and we have 183 members in our branch. However as reported last year it is extremely important that we must continue to foster prospective members to join our club and also especially concentrate on the younger people in encouraging them to join. I commented on this in my other yearly reports and we must still work hard on this to achieve our goals. The huge amount of different makes and models of vehicles that are becoming of age to join our movement must be considered and there are lots of different motoring clubs that are struggling with funding and falling memberships so we should be mindful of these clubs and encourage all those with mutual interest who wish to come and join our movement. Committee. There has been a lot of camaraderie over the years I have been your chairman and we have been able to work as a very good team in keeping together the smooth running of our branch. Again, a big thank you to Russell Lambert for looking after our clubrooms and grounds and to all members who have helped with attending working bees. Many thanks to Rob Thomson our Club Treasurer who has kept us up to date with the changing finance world and for his valuable knowledge and input. This year Raewynne Kruse took on the Secretaries job and many thanks for a job well done.

It is important for all members to give this serious consideration as this club needs dedicated and committed members to help in the important running of our club. Many thanks to John Muter for standing in as Club Captain this year. I would like to extend my grateful thanks to all the committee members who have carried out their duties in a most professional and helpful manner. The parts committee have again been very active this year and have managed to help our members with parts and members outside our branch with some good sales of parts and motors. Members will note in the balance sheet how successful they have been. You have all made valuable contributions to our branch, Thank You for your dedication and support and your untiring efforts. Obituary. I extend our deepest sympathy to all members who have lost loved ones over the past year. Activities. We have had a varied amount of club runs and Noggin and Natter nights throughout the year. Our club nights have been well attended with an average of around forty to fifty members attending the monthly meetings. We are always trying to give a varied line up of guest speakers and these nights have been enjoyed by the members. It is good to see a variation to these nights remembering always that they are a way of socializing and getting together to share our mutual interests in the motor vehicles that we choose to own. Most months there has been some activity organised by members for the monthly club runs and the attendance has been very good. The annual End of Rego Run, The Brick Run, The Breakfast Run, Rubber Duckie Motor cycle rally, Potters Paddock, The 44th Waitara Mini Vin Tour ,The Picnic run to Lake Rotokere and the real Posh Picnic that showcased our branch with photos in the local Midweek and the 52nd Maunga Moana Rally held in Stratford with over 59 entries have all given members a good cross

section of activities to choose from. It was pleasing to see a revival of the tours over the long weekend outing which members enjoyed. The Mid week Runs and Sunday runs have been very popular and I would encourage members to support the outing to the clubrooms on the last Sunday in the month as it gives you an opportunity to join an enjoyable tour or just a drive to the clubrooms type afternoon run and enjoy the company of your fellow members at our clubrooms. Again its many thanks to members who have organized these outings for members. As the years go by more of our members will receive 50 year awards and from our records another 5 members will qualify this year. Historical Records of our Branch. As reported in last year’s report It is vitally important to keep our historical records up to date, correctly documented and preserved. We must be prepared to spend some funds to preserve these important documents correctly and in a safe environment. It is of great concern that we have not been able to replace our the Clubs Historians position this year as this is an important task of looking after our historical records of collating, dating and checking. Please help us find someone to fill this real important position. Club Rooms. Again we have had another year of using our clubrooms to their fullest potential and they continue to be admired by all visitors that visit them. It is important to keep the maintenance up and we have had working bees attended by members. It is pleasing to note that the Monthly Sunday afternoon recent opening of the parts sheds and clubrooms were well attended. Let’s get some other activity organised for our clubrooms. This year the clubroom’s toilet areas were fully refurbished and we are now ready to paint the areas as we were lucky to secure funding from the TSB community Trust. I would like to thank Brian Bollond for the work he put into this area and all others who helped. We are truly very lucky to have our clubrooms and it’s thanks to the District Council that we are able to enjoy the use of this property at the lease that was negotiated some years ago. We are certainly the envy of other motoring clubs with owning our own facility here at Waiongana.

The grounds of the clubrooms need constant mowing which is attended to by member Russell Lambert. The old ride on mower is nearing its useful life so to make things easier for Russell we will be applying to the TSB Community Trust to sponsor a brand new ride on mower. An application is being put together now and we hope to know if we are successful in the next few months. We also have sold off the old steel and wooden tables and wooden piped chairs and replaced them with new plastic stackable chairs and folding tables making for better storage of these items. 2021 International Rally The National President and nine executive members paid a visit in January to inspect our Venues for this big event. A meeting was held and confirmation was made to name the rally” The Vero International Festival of Historic Motoring New Plymouth 2021”. It was also announced that former member of our branch Greg Terrill has been appointed Management Committee Liaison. As Rally Director for this event I have been tasked with a huge job which needs my full attention to secure the right personal to work as a team to deliver “A Rally Like No Other”. The dates have now been confirmed 10 days from Tuesday 19th January to Thursday 28th January 2021. This will coincide with the Magical Festival of lights in Pukekura Park and Rally Headquarters will be the TSB Stadium and the New Plymouth Racecourse complex. I ask all members for their full support, even though the branch will not be financially involved we will still get the kudos for putting our area forward to host such an important rally for our New Zealand members and international visitors worldwide. Future of our Club. As I have stated in previous years, we must look to the future with confidence as our club will go from strength to strength if we continue to encourage the motoring fascination that we have for the ever changing motor vehicle that we want to own, restore and drive. Finally I wish the branch the very best for the future. Members, Thank you again for allowing me the privilege of being your Chairman over last six years. Let us all look forward to enjoying and participating in our club.

EDITORS REPORT Hi there, another year gone and nearly time for our Branch A G M again. Take time to read through Colin’s report and you will realize that nothing happens by itself and all the events we have shared over the past twelve months have had someone working away behind the scenes to make them happen. Please give some thought to standing for committee, some of us have been there for a while, it’s time for some new faces around the table at meeting time. Enclosed with this newsletter is Rob’s financial review for the last year, you will see from that we have ended the year in a good financial position , marginally better than the previous year. You will also see from Rob’s review that the biggest item of expenditure after Insurance is the Branch newsletter, due in part to rising postage costs, If more of you members were willing to receive an email version instead of a posted copy, we would be able to make some savings in this area, think about it!!
